Dug Something Up...

I sketched this storyboard up a long time ago when I just had the seed of the idea of doing some 40k animation. Eventually evolved into Part 1 and kicked off this whole thing.

Renegade Soldier

Marine 3D Model

A few have asked for a clearer look at the Space Marine model, here he is! At some point I hope to show similar breakdowns for actual shots but for now plugging away at Part 4.

Part 4 Happenings

While I work on 3d assets for Part 4 I'm also working with my brother (a talented 2d artist) on the storyboard/animatic to help nail down the shots and timing. Here's some random stuff that didn't make the cut. Not super exciting to look at but thought it might be interesting!

Episode Comparison

Thought you guys might find this interesting. For each scene/shot I animate I give it a name off the top of my head. Here a snap off the scene folders from episodes 2 & 3.

Part 3 Artwork Complete! Onto Audio...

Wrapped up the last piece of animation tonight and now to start slapping some audio on this thing! Almost there...!

The Sound of a Lasgun

Starting to play around with sound ideas for lasguns. I was wondering if there's any examples in existing 40k games/media that you guys particularly like? Or even examples from non 40k stuff. 

Part 3 Progress

Had a few distractions lately but progress is being made! And even speeding up...

Boltgun Penetrative Power

Fluff Fam! Can I request opinions or cold hard fluff facts (if there are any) on the penetrative power of a standard astartes bolt round against the 40k equivalent of high quality steel plate? The mass-reactive aspects tend to make you think they're geared more for softer targets but that didn't stop marines blasting away at each other with boltguns during the Heresy.

How many milimeters of armorplate would seem reasonable to stop a bolt?

Bunch of completed assets for Part 3. Just one last major asset left (I think) before I start animating scenes.

Las Fire Color

So as far as I know there's no 'canon' color for las weapon fire. I believe most artwork shows it as red or yellow/white. Do you guys have a preference? Or know how it's most often described in Black Library books and fluff?

So I was going to post an update on the weapon I had been working on but was unsure if you guys would rather wait and be surprised when ep03 is done? I've now moved onto a new character that's needed...

Deploy

A long time ago I made an animation of a Rhino driving down a street and stopping. That's about all that happens.

Ep03 Storyboard Finished

Storyboard for Ep03 finished. Have moved onto modelling one of the extra weapons needed. A quite large weapon...

Also, I entered Astartes into a competition to win a Rokoko motion capture suit, which would be a major asset going forward as future episodes will have more character animation. The thing is, Death of Hope won their last giveaway so I doubt they'll give this suit to another 40K project :D

Patreon, Good Idea or Not?

Hey guys,

I feel foolish writing this a day after opening the Patreon account but after some input from others I'm becoming a little concerned that it might appear to GW that I'm earning a profit off of their IP/brand. Initially I thought it should be okay as other content creators seem to receive support for videos that focus on a certain IP/brand's products but now I'm not sure. 

What do you guys think? I really appreciate your offers of support but I don't want to do anything tha...
