We are going to be unveiling our bounty system soon in the next few upcoming days. We will be well on track towards honoring our previous promises and commitments that we laid out in previous goals.
We will also be improving netplay soon with UPNP support so that you no longer have to port forward manually.
We are adding a new goal now -
Two new cores added each month for the next 6 months! The users will be able to choose from a dropdown list each month which two it's going to be,...

There have been some changes made to the names of some cores.
GLupen64 has been renamed to 'Mupen64plus libretro'. This will be an upstream-compatible libretro fork that uses the GLideN64 graphics plugin. We will also be maintaining this ourselves from now on.
The old 'mupen64plus libretro' core has meanwhile been renamed to 'ParaLLEl N64', and this single core now has both GL and Vulkan renderers integrated! It will also switch on the fly to Vulkan or GL mode depending on which video dr...

External people have managed to get RetroArch to run on NES Classic!
Setup instructions here:

We'll have to get a NES Classic eventually so we can check the state of development and try to support it officially.

These are some screenshots of a VERY EARLY Dolphin libretro core.
Don't bother us with requests for a release right now concerning this!
Some details on the Dolphin core:
* @AliAliaspider did the port
* Porting took about 4-5 days
* Right now it needs to be statically linked to RetroArch because the dynarec is not PIC-compliant.
* Libretro API does not have support for...

This video shows how to join a netplay session that's advertised in RetroArch's netplay lobby. This is a new feature from RetroArch v.1.4.1 that removes a lot of the hurdles in getting netplay up and running, especially when your netplay partner is less tech-savvy.

This is a quick video showing how to download free/homebrew content from RetroArch's online updater and then initiate a netplay host instance. You can't see it in this video, but once the hosting is initiated, it is announced in the netplay lobby for others to join and, as of the 1.4.0 release, the host can continue playing while new players can jump in at any time (that is, you no longer have to stare at a black screen until the client joins).
Just launch your content like normal, ...

This video shows off RetroArch's new multi-language support. Now, users across the world can use RetroArch in their own native language!
To change languages, launch RetroArch and, from the main menu, go to the Settings tab, scroll down to the 'User' submenu, navigate to the 'languages' option and then cycle through the available languages. These changes also apply to the onscreen keyboard.
Ideally, you should exit and relaunch the program after changing languages to...

RetroArch has now been ported to Windows 98SE/2000 as well as MS-DOS. These are very early work-in-progress ports but in their current state do allow you to start up RetroArch and load a core/game.

Below you can see a video demonstrating a prototype of the GameGirl! This is a handheld Lakka/RetroArch video game handheld powered by a 120Hz screen and making use of a Raspberry Pi Zero as the SoC. This comes directly from the horse's mouth, the Libretro team in coordination with some very capable and reliable engineers!
We wanted something that looks, acts, feels and responds like a game console/handheld. We also wanted something that would be differentiated enough from the typi...

We at Libretro wish you all a happy New Year! 2016 has been quite the year for Libretro as a project, so let’s briefly recap where we stand at the end of this year and what we managed to do in 2016, and what we are going to do in 2017.
RetroArch 1.4.0 is still right around the corner, we are delaying it a bit because we want to further finepolish it and make sure people are really going to like it! But come early January it's certainly getting pushed out there!

Merry Christmas Lakka users :)
In this new release, we packed a lot of small improvements and bugfixes.
We know that a lot of you will use Lakka as a Christmas gift for friends and family, so we took time to test things twice before pushing the new builds on the servers. However, we can’t test everything so it’s better if you can check by yourself that all the aspects of the OS are working as expected.

Mednafen/Beetle PSX is now out with Vulkan support!
To get it: Start RetroArch. Download it by going to Online Updater -> Core Updater and download 'PlayStation (Mednafen PSX HW)'.
To use it: Make sure the 'video driver' is set to 'vulkan'. To confirm this, go to Settings -> Driver and make sure it's set to vulkan. Then start up any game with Mednafen PSX HW. Two month ago, we added Wi-Fi support in RetroArch, to allow Lakka users to connect wireless network using their joypad.
This first implementation was just a proof of concept: scanning the networks was a blocking task that was freezing the interface.
In this new implementation, we are using RetroArch asynchronous task system to scan the networks without blocking the interface.
