The Film Room Ep. 39: Landon Collins is a bad, bad man

Giants third year safety Landon Collins is one of the most exciting young defenders in the entire NFL. After an astonishing 2016 campaign where he amassed 125 total tackles, 4 sacks, and 5 interceptions, Collins is now on the short list of elite safeties who have ever challenged for a Defensive Player of the Year award.

Whether he is roaming the deep middle of the field as a free safety or enforcing his will in the box as a strong safety, Collins has the talent and versatility to ma...

The Film Room Ep. 38 - Tyreek Hill

Chiefs second year receiver Tyreek Hill might already be one of the most dangerous weapons in the NFL despite starting his career as merely a role player in the Kansas City offense. Whether he's on the field as a wideout, running back, returner, or anything in between, Hill has proven thus far that he can take any touch to the house in an instant, regardless of alignment or field position.

So when KC released their former number one receiver, Jeremy Maclin, a while ago it begg...

How to draft properly in your fantasy football league

With NFL GamePass continuing to undergo maintenance after their relaunch last week, I am unfortunately still unable to finish and release my breakdown of Tyreek Hill's rookie campaign. What I *am* able to do, however, is take some time this week to address a topic that a lot of people have been asking about lately - how to draft a winning roster in fantasy football.

It's an interesting question that really has no "correct" answer simply because everyone has their own personal ...

The Film Room Ep. 37: How Jordan Howard ran over the entire NFL

Jordan Howard's astonishing rookie campaign in 2016 was as impressive as it was unexpected. The former fifth round pick out of Indiana took over the starting running back job in Chicago in week four and then went on to have one of the most productive rookie seasons in franchise history - even outshining the great Matt Forte in the process.

But all of that success begged the question - how could a running back with seemingly average physical talent put up elite numbers in his f...

The Film Room Ep. 36: Michael Thomas - The Saints' New Mr. Reliable

With Brandin Cooks now in New England, Saints receiver Michael Thomas is shouldering massive expectations in year two as Drew Brees' go-to target. He led all rookies in virtually every statistical category during his monster season, but the real question is if he can do all of that again in 2017 with defenses likely being more committed to stopping him.

In this week's episode, we'll try to answer that question by breaking down what made Thomas so effective in New Orleans right out o...

The Film Room Ep. 35: DeForest Buckner is (almost) unblockable

The 49ers raised some eyebrows this offseason by formally switching their defense to a Seahawks-style hybrid 4-3. They did this, of course, despite arguably having none of the "necessary" personnel to run it, but fans and analysts alike seemed to forget about one key detail - monsters like DeForest Buckner can play in ANY defense and succeed.

San Francisco was lucky to have the former Oregon Duck fall into their laps at 7th overall in the 2016 Draft, and he rewarded that selection b...

The Film Room Ep. 34: Joey Bosa is the next big thing...or is he?

Joey Bosa - at least based on raw numbers - just had one of the most impressive seasons ever for a rookie defensive end. 10.5 sacks, 23 hurries, and a forced fumble all looked great on the stat sheet, but it was actually the technical dominance that he displayed on tape which really caught my eye. I am being 100% honest when I say that Bosa might already have one of the most refined pairs of hands as a pass rusher in the entire league despite not even having a full season under his belt. He's a ...

The Film Room Ep. 33: Ezekiel Elliott is the Cowboys MVP (and it's not close)

This week's episode is all about the incredible rookie season of Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. He may have been blessed with the best offensive line in all of football in front of him, but make no mistake about it; Elliott doesn't even need good blocking to run over entire defenses. He does that just fine whether the holes are open or not.

An exceptional combination of power, speed, fluidity, and instinct, Zeke is perhaps the most well-rounded back in the NFL. He has found s...

The Film Room Ep. 32: DeAndre Hopkins battles Jalen Ramsey

With the draft now in the rear view mirror, it's time to turn our focus back towards the players that are already making their names in the NFL. Jacksonville's Jalen Ramsey had a stellar rookie season (by typical cornerback standards at least), and I would bet that he will soon be a fixture among Pro Bowl and All-Pro rosters alike. Despite his early success, however, one receiver in particular seemed to repeatedly get the best of him - Texans star DeAndre Hopkins.

2017 NFL Draft Recap and Reactions

This week's episode is a bit different because I am approaching it as more of a one-off podcast. If I were to fully produce a film breakdown for every single team it would take weeks and weeks to do, so doing this as a podcast helps me get my immediate thoughts and reactions out there without having to make you guys wait forever.

I will be returning to the traditional film room format next week with my breakdowns of DeAndre Hopkins and Jalen Ramsey.

Enjoy the episode!

The Film Room Ep. 25: Malik Hooker is a QB's worst nightmare

With the NFL still trending more and more towards fast, aggressive Cover-3 defenses that prioritize athleticism and range over everything else, there is perhaps no better time for Ohio State safety Malik Hooker to enter the pro football scene. Blessed with an incredible blend of straight line speed, fluid hips, and ball skills from his background as a basketball player, Hooker's unique physical skillset makes him the ideal free safety prospect for the modern NFL.

The Film Room Ep. 24: Jamal Adams is the next Brian Dawkins

With just eight days to go until the 2017 Combine kicks off, we're taking a closer look at LSU safety Jamal Adams on this week's episode of The Film Room.

Adams' insane physical talent is evident from the moment you first put his tape on, but perhaps his biggest asset of all is the leadership and culture change he can deliver to an NFL locker room. He was the heartbeat of the Tiger defense for the last three years, and he has the toughness, work ethic, and football IQ to perfo...

Temporary (Forced) Video Takedowns

Hello everyone,

I have some terrible news to share with you all. Unfortunately my current employer (NFL Network) was none too pleased with the existence of this YouTube channel, and they have threatened to take action against me if I continued to post more videos while working in their building. I have since temporarily taken them down, but after this season I will be leaving my current job in order to pursue this channel full time.

The Film Room Ep. 18: Will Fuller is a clone of DeSean Jackson

Whoops, I forgot to post this one on here last week. My apologies!

Will Fuller made his long-awaited debut in the NFL last weekend, and boy was it a doozy! Five catches, 107 yards, and a touchdown capped off the best performance for a rookie in their first career game in Texans history. What was most surprising about Fuller's highlight-filled tape from that game, however, was that his numbers should have been even BETTER. The Texans may have found something special here, folks.

The Film Room Ep. 19: How the Vikings crushed Cam Newton

The Vikings defensive line made a huge statement last week after completely shutting down a potent Panthers offense. Carolina could not run the ball at all, could not convert on third downs, and most importantly could not reliably protect Cam Newton in passing situations. Minnesota racked up eight total sacks on the day in a variety of ways, most notably their famous "double A-gap blitz" packages. Here is a quick breakdown on how the NEW  View Post
