The effects were stronger than Bart could've imagined, but Lisa did tell him it was just a prototype so... it had to be "trial and error" at that time.
Now Bart has to take Ruth home while thinking of what to do about it.

Bart doesn't know what to do... on the "good" side, the device did work and didn't become a fancy flashlight. But on the "other" side... well, you can see how things went.

So... did the new thing work? It looks like it did, but... to what extent?
It seems to me that there might be something wrong with that device... Lisa did say it was a prototype, so it could have flaws...

But i'm pretty sure that Bart wasn't expecting things to happen so fast...
