Dave is just the best, making all my dreams and wishes possible on this tour! I couldn't be more excited for all the experiences I get to offer these birds while on tour. It's pretty special (if stressful on us humans!) and it's actually how I used to take on project birds (could you imagine?!)

Organized chaos? Maybe a bit. These three are working really well together but they aren't perfect, of course. Little run ins are common among parrots. It's important to know when to interfere and when to back off.

So far, Dave hasn't been involved in much of the training in a hands-on way, which is usually the case for project birds in general. He is more of my sounding board or will watch a session upon request, maybe brainstorm ideas/solutions or next steps. But today is a nice treat of him working with Zip in a hands-on way! You can see her apprehension yet willingness to push through. What did you think of this session?

Alright guys, we are working on it and these products are a slow process but we have the prototype finally and have been messing with it and deciding what we want to modify from here.
The size is going to be ideal for medium sized parrots such as African grey parrots, goffin cockatoos, galahs, amazon, eclectus, you get the gist... but even some smaller species are going to be very comfortable traveling in this for even longer durations like Senegal parrots, Meyers, pionus, e...

Many people don't realize what a giant role desensitization plays in a bird's welfare. It makes the difference between a bird being adaptable to new things and experiences or traumatized by them. If you want to achieve outdoor freeflight, this needs to be taken to an extreme level so that your bird isn't at risk of flying off due to being scared easily. If your bird is scared, it should be trained to come to you for safety. If your bird takes off indoors in a spooked flight, try to contact ca...

Hey patrons! I am so excited to share our newest BirdTricks toy designs with you. We have slowly been working on expanding our own personal bird toy line of all natural parrot toys and so one of the first steps with a new design is having it photographed for our website. This means I get to see new designs before they make it on the site and are even offered yet! Here are some of the newest toys in our line up. Which one is your favorite?
You can shop all these designs and more at

I took on a bit more than I expected in this batch - holy moly! Also, sorry about the flickering that happens sometimes throughout this video, my camera settings got changed and I did not catch it until the editing process of this video. If you watch it on faster playback speed, it really helps eliminate it! Looking forward to updating you all on how the cookbook updates we coming next month!
PS - It's is Cressi's birthday today! So easy to remember being on Halloween. She's 16 now!&nbs...

This month's Q&A had a freeflight theme to it! I mention a website for our Freestyle Flyer Grads, it's here. It's not much to see if you aren't a graduate with a login (and you have to be invited to create a login) but I figured some of you might be curious!
Note: Only Morgan tier patrons can participate in asking us questions for these videos, but this series is available to both our Rocko and Morgan tier...

Hey everyone! This is just a quick reminder that October is the LAST month to get the Summer variety of our freeze dried (and to take advantage of the fact that you have no limits on said season!). So if your flock LOVES summer but you aren't sure how they are going to like Fall/Winter, we recommend grabbing some extra bags for diet conversion between seasons if needed.

Taking you through spending the day with Zip (through the last few videos). Doing normal, every day tasks with your bird helps desensitize them to things they will likely encounter often. I also find social eating helps birds try new foods, too. Zip did way better than I expected, what did you think? What are some daily tasks you include your bird in?

In today's video Zip DOES NOT want me to touch her back. But Dave has insisted I get her prepared for accepting a GPS device on her tail if she is going to be a freeflight bird. In this case, I have to be able to touch her tail to be able to put the device on and off of her. So today I am working on the first steps to being able to even touch her tail and that's simply working on touching her back.
Typically, I like to work on this type of training when the bird is mellow and more...

Desensitization is a huge thing with pet birds to make them more adaptable in our homes and less frantic. They are prey animals so naturally they're on high alert when it comes to scary sounds and things. It's our job to help them through their fears so they can know what's rational and irrational.

I wanted to give you all an update on Monet the lovebird that Capri took on as a project bird. Now, all of Monet's content is going to be going into our new Lovebird Addition Course that will automatically be part of our Budgie Course. Lucas is still editing that beast of a project but when it's done, I will be posting it here on Patreon for all of you at the Bondi tier and above as well as adding it to those accounts who have my budgie course already or get it in the future.

You all ask such great questions and this was one I wanted to answer in a full length video for everyone to hear the response to.
Do you have a bird you've over bonded to or views you as its mate? Sometimes it doesn't take as much effort as I've put in with Jinx for a bird to see us as their mate! Let me know your thoughts on this topic in the comments.

So we had heat temps around 91 and 91 degrees and both Zip and Olivia were not feeling well because of it, and showing signs of heat stress. These signs included lack of appetite (both food and water), seeking shelter under dishes or toys, the sick eyes (where they just look like they don't feel well in their eyes), looking unkept, lethargic, fluffy, etc.
If your bird shows signs of heat stress, simply get them into a cooler temperature for a minimum of 48 hours and offer them coo...

In today's sneak-peek video, I'm showing that Zip and Zoom moved out into my new aviary at my folk's house. They are doing great, even if they were a little unsure at first. I played around with housing them together, separately, next to one another... and have tried a little of everything!
PS - Please let me know if you can see this video and the previous ones okay. As Patreon has been changing a lot about their platform, it has impacted how they play nice or not with Vimeo and so I ha...

Soooo, this wasn't planned. And I didn't mention it in the video BUT I made sure to interact with Jinx first and last and he did AMAZING on this trip! He was soooooo happy this trip... my gosh. Freeflight trips are his jam. So that's your side-note since I forgot to even mention all that stuff because this other stuff happened and I was like omgomgomgomgmog about it.
Are you guys shocked I did this?
