After some very helpful bug reports, 5-1b is now available on the downloads page for the Prototype 5 series. The changelog can be found at the bottom of that page.
If you have an existing save from 5-1 or 5-1a, it will work just fine with 5-1b.
The most important bug fixed in 5-1b is the defeat-scenes-not-playing bug. So now you can get the missing TF from Prototype 5.

That was fast, wasn't it? Thanks to several bug reports I found an uninitialized variable bug as well as a few minor text bugs. A patch has been issued, and the patch has been rolled into the main release. Check the patron downloads page for the patch if you're using the early copy.
Since I forgot to mention it, you can adjust the game's brightness from the options menu. I intend to put in a tutorial for this where the game prompts you to adjust the brightness, but that hasn't been put in yet....

Meet Unit #499323, the Maintenance and Repair unit of Sector 96. She's very shy, and likes her job since it mostly lets her work by herself. Since she's in charge of fixing things in Sector 96, you'll be seeing a lot of her. Trust me.

Here is the concept for the latex drone, done by hand. Way to go, Chicken.
Latex Drones are used for manual labour and security duty. They are equipped with CPU inhibitors which keep them from thinking too hard or asking too many questions. They also get excited a great deal from the slightest pressure on their tight, rubbery chassis. You can bet Christine is going to be fascinated by these machines...

Here we have Unit 2855, the player's companion for Chapter 5. Basically anything I tell you about her is a spoiler, so instead just look at the lovely design.
2855 can change her stats in combat by loading new combat routines. This changes which abilities are usable. She can thus switch between Assault, Support, and Healing. She's very adaptable but not nearly as durable as Christine is, so be sure to use Christine's distracting and stunning abilities to keep her alive and dealing damage.

In Chapter 1, there were four very important Alraunes (other than Mei, of course). Florentina and Nadia had character art done, but Rochea and Adina did not. In my original draft work, Rochea had all of two lines and Adina didn't even exist.
Well, as time went on these characters got bigger and more important roles. Both will be appearing again in later chapters. In v1.04, these characters will now have unique sprites and dialogue portraits!
Rochea is also the only Alraune who has a hair...

On Regulus, the golems have a very strict hierarchy. Lord Golems are administrators and researchers. They have a great deal of power and often command a number of Slave Golems to do their manual labour.
I really like this design. It's actually the first monster design that I made direct suggestions for (I provided a design for the dress that Chicken incorporated) and I think it turned out splendidly. I think the ears are my favourite part, and I couldn't tell you why.

In Chapter 5, there are two forms of currency. The standard Platina is accepted by some elements of society, like the Steam Droids, but Regulus City doesn't take them. You need to produce work credits by doing useful things around the city. Coincidentally, those useful things are the minigames of Chapter 5.
