TBOE Tuesday Upd8

Hello, today I have for you some rooms with a new enemy. A robot Mechinator, which is very slow and therefore not terribly threatening on its own. But in combination with allies it can effectively seal you away, locked under a robotic metal shell.

There's also been a spot of refactoring under the hood, so please let me know if that's caused any bugs that you notice.

I think that in the coming upd8s I shall at some point add restraints that incentivise you to maintain and clean the dungeon. tasks which result in rewards including more such restraints. The intention being to create a path that pulls you further into slavery, and concludes in what other similar games call a bad end: the player becoming fully bound to the point of inescapability. But that's all in the future for now.

Slave Juice

It is important for even gagged slaves to eat, but obviously you want to minimise the amount of time your slave is without a gag. Why not keep your slave gagged at all times with a compatible gag, and feed them using Slave Juice! You can easily force-feed them this neutral-tasting slurry so that they can continue to serve and labour to your benefit!

Slave cult: cleaning

Hey, how do folks stay clean under all those restraints? Here's some of an answer, there is technology in place to ensure that the benefits of a shower can pass through the hard mandatory exoskeleton of the slave, and benefit the biological skin beneath. It does make it somewhat troublesome to go to bed less than twenty minutes after showering.

"do the specific supplies need to be replenished?"
nah, they are generated on-site using the slave's biological sheddings and the surrounding air as raw materials, by way of genetically engineered microbes

"does the stuff ever need to be removed for a deeper cleaning"
eh, usually not. but in some cases enough persistent grime might accumulate that this becomes necessary. in which case it'd have to be removed and cleaned under strict supervision

Slave airship

Some slave managers reside in airships, managing and controlling their cult through physical tethers from the sky. Occasionally you may see a migration of a few hundred of these slaves passing by, moving from some unknown place to another unknown place. It is probably best to stay in your home and not bother them, lest they aggress and capture you or any other onlookers.

"hey, what's with that electrical gap bit?" it's to allow the tether to pass through other overhead cables and small bridges and such. as well as allowing groups of slaves to be easily disconnected for independent work.

TBOE tuesday upd8: Effects of sound

Good afternoon. Today I have for you an update that enriches the soundscape of The Bondage of Eliza. Specifically, items have sound effects for when they are donned and doffed, and a few other events have SFX. In other words, the pre-existing sound effect volume slider now has something to do.

I've also thrown a new obstacle into the Robozone, a pit of chains. And a few more minor tweaks as usual, the most notable of which is those balls that trap you with a ball-and-chain. They activate slower now and with warning, so you can conceivably run away instead of being entrapped in 0.001 seconds.

As usual, this version of the game has an F3 debug menu in-game so you can spawn in all the objects or items that you want.

Doctor's solution for wrist pain

Sometimes it's possible to slam the computers so hard for so long that you develop wrist injuries, as I have. one solution to this is of course an enforced rest for a few weeks managed via handballs and administered by a genuine doctor. Unfortunately for me I don't have that kind of doctor around here so I'll have to make do with just working less intensely and using my relatively uninjured non-dominant (submissive?) hand more. Whether I'll be able to keep up with the pace of creation that I have enjoyed in the recent past is a question only the future can answer.

TBOE tuesday upd8: helping hands

You can now find and stockpile Helping Hands, which are a consumable that lets you remove items easily as though you were unbound. Does nothing against locks. There was previously a problem wherein you could end up heavily bound with nothing further to do in the game but wander gradually from room to room. The helping hands give you the opportunity and potential to gain a bit of easy freedom just from exploring a little - so you can be tied up again in future.

Of course as a patron, you have access to the F3 cheaty debug console in game with which you can remove anything anyway, but y'know, it's the principle of the thing.

You can also 'disarm' yourself such that you will not deal damage when slapping, even if you have attack stones. Through this you may save these stones for an important enemy, or maintain a principle of pacifism in your violence if you so choose. In future perhaps I will add other types of attack stones, and this lays the framework for that, being able to toggle through the various kinds.

Nation of slaves: Politician

It's important for those who legally hold the power, to know that they serve only as long as the people will them. To this end, the politicians of Ketteburg are encumbered with a uniquely programmed set of restraints that only allows them partial freedom when they're in their own home, or when four common folk take it upon themselves to remain near the politician in question, sacrificing their own time to show that this person is worth supporting. Else they will be stuck mute, blind, and kneeling.

TBOE Upd8: Robozone

Hullo again. In this update there's a new area featuring a collection of autonomous or non-autonomous devices of restraint. Latex spillages that climb up to bind your body if you stand in them too long. Turrets that shoot the screen full of vantawhite aplenty. And the chambers that seal you inside and shoot you relentlessly with robotising pellets.

Those leash chain things I added last time, I've made them easier too. Can't shoot through walls and their collars are easy to remove.

It is my intention to make another new area this month.

Also there's been this uncommon bug where invisible walls are created. If you run into that please let me know what floor it happens on, I've been trying to hunt it down.

TBOE Tuesday Upd8

For this week's first upd8 we have item groups. It was kind of nonsense that you would take off a 'rope blindfold' and then have a 'rope blindfold' in your pocket. Now, instead, you get 'ropes', which can be fashioned into any number of rope-based restraints, as long as that number is currently five. Chains operate under the same principle, and perhaps other things too in the future.

Soon I shall look at making the next environment, which would be a robot factory workshop kind of place I think, where Eliza would face the sincere risk of being encased in a hard-to-remove robot suit.

Eventually the time comes for most slaves that they shall return to free society. Although they stand changed in body and mind by their months and years of service and restraint, and so there shall be an uncomfortable period of readjustment during which there will be the everpresent easy temptation to turn right back to the slave cult, to benefit once again from the direction and order that they provide.

Opinions on TBOE features

Hullo, good evening. There's a few possible things I could work on next for The Bondage of Eliza, and it seems like a good time to get opinions through an ironically non-binding poll on what direction y'all folks are most interested in seeing in the near future.

MORE CONTENT

would be more of the same: more enemies, more floors in the dungeons, some more beneficial items like the oil collar, more restraints and the like. One thing I'd like to include in this would be other very long term restraints like the control suit, so it would be possible to come out of the game's dungeon with more nigh-irremoveable bondage than you entered with. In the longer term I'd want to add other characters than Eliza with other mechanics, much like The Binding of Isaac has multiple characters; and other dungeons that you can go to, much like you have a choice of where to go in something like Lethal Company.

ENSLAVEMENT OF ENEMIES

would involve applying articles of bondage to probably only some of the enemies in the game, and gaining some control over what they do. Perhaps these ally-enemies could be used to free you from bondage, or capture others. The main hurdle to doing this would be making a system to show what bindings are currently applied to someone; all the current images are made to match Eliza or someone very similar, and a lot of the enemies are quite dissimilar.

SLICE OF LIFE

would focus on the impact of bondage on day to day life. Does Eliza have a job that needs doing? Does she have a garden to manage? Does she need to phone people up to negotiate a lower price on bills? All these things outside of dungeon runs fall under this category. I'd probably at least add the ability to actually sleep in bed, and furniture that can be grabbed from the dungeon as loot.

CHARACTER CUSTOMISATION

is something that I'm hesitant to add but which I understand is quite popular. Different hair-styles, face tweaking. it might be possible to do something about general body shape and skin colour. accessories like cat ears, horns, tails, spectacles, I'll probably add these regardless since they likely work quite well within the existing system. In any case, if you're interested in customisation let me know and I'll be more likely to give it some serious thought going forward.

New public TBOE upd8

Righto then, it's upd8 time. As ever, the game is easily playable over on Itch 

The main change in this one is that after a successful run you go to a place called HOME, which is a domicile in which one lives. From here you can endure the restrictions of the bondage you have acquired in the dungeon, and then launch a new run under the same restraints in an attempt to get free. I intend to add more features to this HOME place going forward.

So, here's the cycle: You awaken at game start in a CONTROL SUIT, an article of bondage which will be your constant irremoveable companion for a while. Your main objective insofar as you have one is to remove it by repeatedly going into the game dungeon and searching for solutions. Congratulations to all who remove the suit at any point.

What's more, many items now have a simple minigame to complete in order to remove them. Ropes and gags and such will require a little interaction in order to rid yourself of them. One such minigame is this DDR rhythm arrow button pressing thing:

We also have chain mines and rope mines! They do what you'd expect, so I don't recommend stepping on them unless you want to be tightly and heavily bound immediately.

There's also now some permanent QOL features exclusive to the paid version: multiple save files and a debug menu to spawn items and enemies. This version is also a couple of updates ahead, and already has some kind of leashing enemy and some music. Paid members shall get updates much more frequently throughout the month.

TBOE upd8

Today we have a new 'enemy' of sorts, this contraption that shoots a chain that leashes you to it. I'll probably come back later to make it easier to escape with hands bound.

Other minor changes include options like music volume being saved, and the ability to spawn enemies and props and things via the F3 debug menu.

I guess any upd8 after a couple of days is necessarily going to be minor so I'll stop calling them that.
