Gibbering Mouther beginnings

Before I get too carried away with this I wanted to chuck an update out. It needs a bit of adjusting but I'm trying to design it so it could fit on the appropriate sized base without losing the dynamic forward lurch. It still has to work baseless as well so I'll make sure everything finishes at the same 'ground' level but that's easily sorted.

What kind of monstrosity did you lot pick! 

Seeing as there is no need for a t-pose or any kind of symmetry we need to decide what this thing will actually be doing, mainly if it's going to be more vertical or horizontal in it's final pose. I'm drawn to the more horizontal lurching forward look, like it's spotted its next victim and is going in for the kill.

That's the direction I'll start in but throw any ideas or reference at me if you have them!

Dropbox Issues

Hey everyone,

I'm having some issues with dropbox at the moment, they have temporarily suspended downloads possibly for 24hrs as I've had too much traffic for my account. 

Trying to get it resolved now but they aren't being very helpful, I've upgraded plans to more than double the allowed bandwidth but they wont automatically apply that change so I'm waiting for contact from the specialist support team.

Bonus Drop - The Qalupalik

We've got another cryptid type monster this month with the Qalupalik. It's basically a creepy looking arctic mermaid/siren from Inuit folklore that snatches kids if they get to close to the edge of the ice.

The spooky windsock has joined the collection! Sizing is a bit all over the place depending on where you look, some say 12ft long, others say 20ft and then the latest art has them with a mouth that wide... I settled on 30ft for the total length with the proportions I had, 12ft was way too small and 20ft wasn't much better, this looked like a good size to match up to a normal humanoid and fit a full torso in it's mouth.

Phaerimm almost ready!

I jumped ahead a bit and started posing so I could see what I'm actually working with, it makes it hard to imagine the final result just looking at a lumpy sausage!

I need to finish off the pose but what I'm thinking is the lower hands will be touching the ground to help it from tipping forward and I'll put a spot for a flying base in the rear where the body loops down.

Phaerimm progress

I've got all the base forms in place so far and started laying out some general detail to sharpen up in the next pass. It's not a whole lot to look at right now seeing as it's essentially just a lumpy tube but that will all come to life once it gets coiled up for a pose. 

From what I can find they seem to be around 12ft long, the art does look a bit more exaggerated though. I've got it setup with a decent amount of length at the moment and will just see how it balances out visually...

Resurrection Vote - Round 35

We've had a lot of close races lately with many options being very popular but not quite making the cut, it's time to give them another chance!

I had a bit of chill time away from the screen over the weekend but the boar will get sent off for supports today and will join the collection shortly as well.

I've also been thinking about doing a meme creature/homebrew type vote, with...

Giant Boar - Ready to pose

Mad a few proportion tweaks on the big fella and tightened up the sculpt, done a full fur pass as well and added in some smaller front tusks. The little guy got some baby tusks and another light pass to flesh out the anatomy a bit more.

Which pretty much puts us in the clean-up and pose phase, so any ideas or preferences? Initially I'm thinking a big charge, half way through a stride to get something a bit more dynamic but I wont really know until I start playing around.

Giant Boar progress

Couple of quick pics of where the sculpts are at, I'll most likely make some proportion tweaks to adult when I look at it with fresh eyes in the next session but pretty happy with the overall shape so far and because it came up a lot we'll have a little piglet as well.

Bonus Release! The Yeti

Another monthly bonus is already here and this one is the Yeti. I had to go with the famous pose so it could also make for a good Sasquatch with the horns removed (just let me know if you want that variant). I went with a modified approach to my fur technique to try and give it that thick shaggy look with larger and flatter 'strands' and it got a pretty good result!

Giant Boar Moodboard

The boar took that one out pretty convincingly and I've actually made a moodboard this time! Straight away I'm liking the the proportions of the large shoulders and that hump back look, it will definitely be carrying my usual muscle mass to build out a big frame. Tusks I'll play around with, I dont want to go overboard adding extras it wouldn't normally have but it's hard to judge without actually seeing it all together.

Rakshasa Released!

The regal Rakshasa has made it's way into the collection. I think we captured that high class feeling spoken about in the lore and going with the white tiger look really adds to that as well. The backwards hands even have a certain charm to them after I got my head around it!

Vote - Round 34

Had a bunch of large beasties requested so it's turned into a bit of a theme for this round. Dire/Giant stuff is always cool to mess around with so it should make for a fun sculpt either way!

Always looking for vote ideas so let me know if there is something you would like to see and an quick update on the Rakshasa -  it's tested and ready to go, I'm just finalising all the stat/token art ...

A wild Sharkenbear appears!

After many requests the ultimate beast has now joined the collection!  (along with a normal bear variant as well) These homebrew monsters are always fun ones to muck around with and the result speaks for itself, I think we have the best Sharkenbear mini available now lol
