v1.6 Critical Fix - August 19, 2025
Your support over the years has helped a lot when it comes to maintaining my channel. Now, EA has given me super early access to Cottage Living. I've made a 2-3 part lets play out of that opportunity, and this is part one. You can learn a lot about how new things work though it's through the eyes of a guy exploring it for the first time. Kind of a look at how I'd normally play through content to get a feel for it.

Hello everyone. My videos come a bit slower these days, but I got sidetracked from news due to IRL issues. Sims team didn't cover it enough anyway. I had to go digging myself for all the trait changes. I'm working on a video and edited 3m/7-8m of the content, so it'll be out in the next 48h! I look forward to sharing. I do not think this one update is some amazing thing, but it's DEFINITELY something people who care should encourage Maxis to do more of.... it's exactly the type of update that...

Got a sentiments guide out, but it needs a bit more work. For now it's handy for seeing the types of activities that trigger them. I may put in info about buffs, but only if it seems they vary enough to be useful. I think they give you random moodlets based on the type of sentiment.

I've written and gathered info pretty quickly this time, though none of these pages are "final" you can learn a lot about what's up in this pack if you're primarily checking to see if you would want to buy it or not. So far we have listings of Lifestyles, the three new skills, a cheats page and the main gateway (which has been updated to be a little more thorough now but needs more work).

I got my Snowy Escape coverage started over on the guide. I didn't jump right into this because it didn't feel like there was a lot to talk about, but that has eased up some as new information came out. I'll be covering the livestream tomorrow and summarizing everything into one short video.. well, sort of, You know how I am :P

While I'd always prefer to like a pack, I don't this time. I will still try to cover it and find anything interesting.. I'm just a bit behind due to lack of early access. I'm going to get on that this week. First impressions were enough for me to form a concrete opinion whether the gameplay improves or not. I don't believe it gets much better. It's just very contained, and as a result you will spend a lot of time only doing missions... an area that is not a particularly strong one. If it were...

Hi guys. I just did a video on My Time at Portia, because I had a lot of fun with it and wanted to share the things I enjoyed. Just to be clear though, I'm not moving away from Sims just do not have early access this time so I'm trying something new.

Hi guys. I will say right away that I had a fairly neutral opinion on this pack. I don't have high expectations for SPs, so any gameplay at all is nice. I was tired when I launched this and forgot to post it here. Do let me know what you think on the video's quality. I'm starting to feel a bit more comfortable but feedback is always helpful!

Hi guys, I just wanted to let you know I did put out a page about this new patch today: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/june-2020-patch.php
I'm working on covering this new Expansion. So far, a bit disappointed with how Eco Footprint works. Player actions don't matter much for determining if there is trash or not, and you seem to need to build other lots (or at least modify them) to g...

The first video I put out was sort of thin on information, so I made an effort to combine info from official sites and stalking SimGurus for far too long. This is the result. My pacing has slowed down a bit lately, and I'm sure it's been noticed. I've been experiencing an explosion of learning in video editing for a few months now, finding ways to save time but also rebranding with the new logo and assets I use for every video. Not quite done, but hope to be by the time this pack is out...

Hi everyone, let me know what you think of the style. I have done about 4-5 of these of my last 100 and kind of consider it a Let's Play hybrid. I only keep highlights and edit it down a lot, create a script that flows with the content. Made an effort to keep it entertaining, so happy to hear any feedback. I'm actively learning to improve my editing. It's very easy to just cut up video and forget how important it is to spend some time refining things :)

Hey all, here's the link to my checklist for making a Super Sim like mine. https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/supersim.php I think it's a fine challenge and will help some people do things in a way they haven't before. You do get the most out of the game by pursuing this, because it does require you to utilize all the systems. I found it pretty fun, and know others will too.

Hey all. I know not everyone watches my LP but today I made a guide video based on my experiences there. This was the plan all along. I learned about how things work together in 4 and put up this video explaining all the main components you need to come up with to make a proper Super Sim in Sims 4.

I've just now completed my Discover University review, which took a few days what with the holiday and all. It comes a bit late, because frankly I had to explore it all and guides are obviously higher priority for my sites. Thanks for your support as always. I'm sure many of you bought this and wonder if you agree with my points. Throw a comment on it and let me know.
Cheers,
Carl

Just in case you missed it, here's my summary of yesterday's livestream. Ultimately, I think the nature of this pack makes it a challenge for the devs streaming to show a substantial amount of university attendance. I think anything in the careers area is drawn out somewhat by schedules etc. I think we will need a look for ourselves to get an idea how fun it is, but it gives you a good idea what the pack looks like and a chunk of what's in it.

I made this list in order to share one of the things I love about The Sims. Items like the Bee Box, which have their own gameplay but aren't the main way you level a skill.
I don't think I'll put out many this week in anticipation of Friday's livestream. I had server issues going into the last game pack and think I'll make it easier on myself this time around. Looking forward to covering University with a review and gameplay guides in both formats.
Thanks for your support as alwa...

Hi gang. I really appreciate your support and I hope this doesn't cause some people to be angry. As much as I love The Sims, as a long-term fan some things have bothered me for a while now. After Island Living I knew I was going to do this video. It stewed in my mind, and I grew as a Youtuber until I felt comfortable enough to attempt it. I knew it would be long, and I knew it would be difficult. No video has ever taken me so long, but I wanted to articulate my thoughts on The Sims 4 and how ...

I am sure that a few of you have seen it, but just yesterday I uploaded a video highlighting some of LittleMsSam's mods including live-in retail, roommates, and about 10 more. She has about 150 mods total so this is only a tiny fraction of what she has to offer. I had a lot of fun making this. It's the 2nd 'showcase' of a bigger modder and everything they offer (the first being TwistedMexi's building stuff). I misspoke saying 3 in the video. Sacrificial's super hero mod was pretty much standa...

I've just put up my video summary of the Realm of Magic deep dive stream Maxis held today. I have a lot of work to do updating the site in coming days but I'm excited to learn and share that info as always. For now there's just a video and brief article summarizing a few things that are new from today's live play. Feels pretty good to cut down a 2 hour stream into a 20 min one with really tight info. However I do kind of struggle to keep it in sync. We learned a LOT today.

I'm not big into building, but I did put together a guide to using the new stair customization tool - mainly getting around troubles that might come up, with general advice on how to use it. Hi everyone! I have been hard at work this week learning some new tech that will help me to share quickie information with the community. News updates about patches and upcoming DLC is definitely the focus, though at times I can also use it for mini-guides and tutorials. This will also be a good way to link to new videos and text guides.
The home page automatically shows the most recent 10 posts, and the sidebar shows the most recent 5. On mobile, you also have a small segment that ...

The Sims 4 Moschino Stuff gives the impression it's a pack about clothing, but it's more a pack about fashion photography. Learn about the new career, photography objects and how they improve the skill, and new build/buy options you'll unlock with the DLC. CAS assets are lightly featured here, so be forewarned. This is mainly a look at the gameplay of the pack, because it's my main objective.

Hi all. I just now put out this summary of yesterday's livestream. I feel it's one of my better videos. Let me know what you think, and whether this helped you decide if you want it.
On the idea of post-video credits: I had mentioned doing credits just a few weeks ago, and I didn't get around to that yet. I just recently got upgrades to my PC completed with a new install of windows so that is much more possible now.
I need to decide how I want to approach that, but I think I'll u...

Title says it all. I summarized the Maxis Monthly livestream for July 2019. I did cover things in the order the team did, and the first part goes on a bit. There's a point though.. a lot of what's said indicates we may have Sims 4 quite some time before a sequel.

A friend recommended I cover Snaggle Fluster, a rare drink recipe in The Sims 4. This ability gives you massive skill gains and is available from level 9 in the Mixology Career. It's entirely missable because you can skip right past it. Let me know what you think of this one, it's a bit experimental but bartending is kind of repetitive as far as activities go, and the video was definitely going to hit 4-5 mins no matter what. Thanks for your time and support as always folks. We hit 20k youtub...

This covers the Sims 4 base game patch that came out ahead of Island Living. it made substantial changes to many functions of the fishing skill, which was badly in need of an update. Bait changed, examine water, the notebook (slightly) and fish tuning in general. Players also receive a new Angle for Big Catch ability that unlocks at high level. Here's a guide to those changes and how you can take advantage of them. We also dip into fishing traps, fishing from canoes, and the Mermaid's Aquatic...

I've put together a long video that goes over Island Living's gameplay systems. I'm afraid the outcome isn't good. I'm not very happy with how shallow this pack is - there's little for me to do as a player and little for me to write about as a fansite owner.
