Howdy all, hope this update finds you all well. Weather is beautiful where I am, and what a difference it makes.
Going forward, I'm going to endeavour to give regular updates on how the writing is progressing--still keeping the chapter in its entirety for once the first draft is completed, but giving something tangible: a word count update. I've started this as much for my sticking to my own targets as to indicate actual progress to patreon supporters.

One of the things that led me back to writing, recently, was a patron's suggestion to read Stephen King's BIlly Summer - a fantastic novel of redemption and on the power of the writer's craft. Following that, I started listening to King's "On Writing," off of Audible during the commute to work.
The autobiographical parts were surprisingly compelling--I'm not usually one for biography--but it was the writing-guide stuff I was most interested in. And though I don't completely ...

So--that's done, then. I've refunded as far back as Patreon will allow me - a surprisingly slow and painful task; I guess the service doesn't like people doing that.
So, what happened?
When I stepped away from the computer, stuck in the middle of scene with Cindy sat opposite her therapist being secretly observed by K, I never expected to be this long. Obviously - a month, maybe, or two, but certainly not longer. But at some point I decided that until I had somet...

Hello.
Well, it's been awhile - much longer than expected, to be honest, and I apologize for that. Now, before trying to justify anything, I want to also sincerely apologize for the continued charges. I thought I'd suspended all Patreon charges when I stepped away from my computer and Fakeminsk account. I hadn't intended to stay away for so long, but I also thought I could do so without charging people. Today is the first time I've logged in since Christmas, and ...

Part of the Story: BackgHello! I just wanted to follow up on the message I sent earliabout inserting patrons a scertain level into the fiction. AN exaAn example of what I mean might be soemsomething like this, from the current chapter:
"That woman there: tall and slim in an enviably elegant long dress, backless, slit to the thigh, legs crossed at the knee beneath the dance of fabric, hand delicately held to her throat as she laughed, a precise fall of notes like a chor...

Hello, all, I hope this update finds you healthy and well as we approach the end of the month.
The end of the chapter continues to run away from me - in that, as I work through the remaining scenes, they've grown in length a little beyond what I'd expected. My original aim had been for a chapter of around 10-12k word in length, but now 15-18k seems more likely.
Is this a good or bad thing? I'm not entirely sure. I suspect I'm being more than a little indulgent, i...

Hello!
An update was long overdue - apologies. So, writing of Constant continues, though at a much slower pace than I'd like. Real life stubbornly refuses to step aside and give me absolute freedom (probably a good thing, as I'd just squander it) - but in this case, real life decided to kill my car. Not a surprise, really, as it was about 20 years old and its demise inevitable, but the timing wasn't great. So, as I'm arranging financing to buy a new (used) replac...

Hello!
It's been awhile, and an update is certainly overdue. Progress continues, in fits and starts - every time I get back into a comfortable writing rhythm, something seems to conspire to knock me out of it. Nevertheless, I continue to crawl my way to the end of chapter 2.
As you've all been quite patient, I've decided to share with you the first half (or so) of the chapter. This is roughly 6000 words, though I estimate the whole chapter will probably hi...

Hello all! It's been a while, so I thought a progress update might be a good idea. It's been slow going; before Easter I'd managed to work my way into a really good routine, a solid 30min to an hour of writing every day, generally after work. Then the holiday knocked me out of that routine, and work's been pretty full-on since, and disciplining myself back into writing had been tricky.
Fortunately, I think I'm finally there again. Progress on the current ch...

Hello, Patrons!
Apologies for the delayed update: I've been on a short holiday, catching up with family I hadn't really seen in two years.
This proved wonderful, stressful and exhausting in equal measures. I'd thought there would be plenty of time for writing during the short holiday, but that proved wishful thinking. A few moments here and there, but between catching up with family, jetlag, and work, I didn't find nearly as much time to write as I'd hoped.

Hello everyone - another update on Constant in All Other Things. I can't deny a little disappointment at how chapter 5 seems to have been received: only a few comments, and far fewer views (as far as I can track - Big Closet tracks hit data, Fictionmania doesn't seem to) than the previous chapter. Then again, Big Closet went down right as I posted, and by the time it came back up, the chapter had already slipped pretty far down the front page.
In any case, I continue to make...

Hello Patrons! After a few delays, Chapter 5 is nearly ready to post. I'm going to let it sit for 24 hours before giving it another pass, then post it to the usual sites, Here's a sneak preview. Enjoy, and feedback always welcome. There are some bits (especially towards the end) that I'm less pleased with, which I suspect will change in the final revision.

It's been a pretty good week for writing, I think, though I admit 2000 words isn't exactly a blistering pace. I've decided (I think) to split chapter 5 into two parts - the way its structured lends itself pretty well to that. Which means I should be ready to post it by the weekend.
I've gotten our protagonist out of the restaurant and back to Julia's apartment, and laying down some groundwork for the next chapter.
Care for a sneak peak? There's got to be so...

So, the word count for Chapter 5 continues to trundle along, and reached 4k today. I abandoned by original plan to revise chapter 4 - it was at risk of becoming way too long - but what I wrote was salvagable as a starting for chapter 5. It's tricky to find writing time during a weekday - I'm lucky if I carve out 30 minutes for myself - but even at that pace the chapter is growing nicely. There's some fun stuff going on between Cindy and Julia that I hope readers will enjoy.<...

So, I thought I was making some good progress into Chapter 5 of Constant in All Other Things, but soon realised that I'd posted chapter 4 a little too quickly. The structure I have in mind for the fifth chapter (in a sort of interview / flashback format) requires me to go back and polish up some bits of chapter 4 first. I got lured into the idea of ending the recent posting on a cliff-hanger, but I think that was a mistake.
So now I'm extending the end of the previous...

This is all very new; welcome to the page! Having never done anything like this before, I've doubtlessly messed it up. Nevertheless, here it is: the Patreon page for supporting the writing of Constant in All Other Things and (possibly) other stories in the future. Let's see where this goes...
