Miscellaneous Practice February 2024

Instead of a re-release this month I throught I'd post some practice pieces I have done lately; I hope you like them and find them interesting, and ideally that they don't disturb your expectations for my posting schedule too badly 😳.

Jaina Worried Selfie - Development Snippets

Does what it says on the tin really. Quite a lot changes on this one from start to finish, particularly Jaina's face; lots of subtle changes there.

Starfire Vs. Minotaur

Here's a spontaneous sequel to this little set of our favourite Teen Titans.
The Talisman of Temptation sure is powerful, but Starfire is really strong, and this poor Minotaur may have bitten off more than he can chew with this Tamaranian.

Arahan & Naestra - Development Snippets

This is more for anyone that's curious about the behind the scenes of any drawing: Often when I work on commissions I send snippets like this to my clients so they can rubber stamp things so I don't end up drawing the wrong thing. Sometimes drawings stay on track, sometimes they deviate into something new, but these snippets will hopefully provide a little window into how a picture grows through its earliest drafts to its later stages, with other bits in between.

Vi & Jinx Portrait & Illustration Video

A little sort of research sketch I did of these two, I like to illustrate Jinx and I feel very confident about how I draw her, Vi less so however. This piece was done to see if I could draw Vi in a way which looks reminiscent of the Arcane artstyle, but also to make her look more related to Jinx than the show did. Whilst it's hard for me to say how successful it was, I did enjoy drawing this and like the result; I certainly hope you do too.

Patron's Pick #4: Bust is a must

Patron's Pick returns and this time with a throwback to an old, short series of pictures I did. Five characters from Dota 2 are up for evaluation, but only one can emerge victorious in this poll.

  For those of you unfamiliar with Dota 2 you will find a reference image using the in-game models below: I try to base my depictions of the characters on these, but sometimes take a little bit of liberty, particularly with the faces (be nice to mirana please).

Journey to Ungoro Re-release
