You all have been SO incredible - thank you for being so supportive of one another and for sharing your work with us here in the FanClub!
This week I am going to introduce sketching into the daily creativity sessions; so once a day, let's commit to taking the time to write a poem OR draw something!
To start it all off I made these little colouring pages since I know adult colouring books are quite therapeutic. They really are a nice distraction from reality.
You can p...

Hello Beastlings,
Here is my offering for today.
I was inspired by Robert Frost and then decided to put a loose spin on a Petrarchan sonnet to start introducing structure into my writing.
When writing songs, the structure is important - you have to cooperate with your intended verse/chorus/bridge/etc arrangements when composing your lyrics. I have lots of Arch Enemy songs (Time is Black, for example) where I had to painfully cut away chunks of lyrics b...

I think we all need a little hang-out, myself included. So, for this month's bonus material, let's do exactly that.
This Meet & Greet will be open to all patrons, so I will see you tomorrow, March 25th at 12pm (NYC time)!!
Stay safe and strong!

Here's a poem I wrote just now, after my jog... which I think I'm still "allowed" to do as long as I keep a distance from passers-by (it feels insane to write this).
I didn't pay much attention to cadence or rhythm here and instead focused on a single, meaningless moment of stepping on a twig. As I wrote, I felt that it was an important reminder that even startling, loud, violent moments can sometimes be more benign than we think. We shouldn't give anything more power than it deserves....

Thank you all for posting your poetry and art! I’m loving this so much!!
Today I wrote more like a stream of consciousness - less of an intentional piece. Again, it doesn’t matter if it’s good or not. I created it and it exists now forever.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings. Goodnight everyone!

I have wanted to cover this song for years. No time has felt more appropriate than the present.
This is just a one-taker because it felt really good to do this... but I want to cover this for real. Then I can give you guys the file here on Patreon so you can keep a high quality audio file for rainy days or weeks.
I hope this brings you some joy or some comfort at least!
This is a cover of a song by Chris Cornell off one of my favourite albums of all time, Euphoria Mourn...

Guys - this is an extremely tough time for all of us. I have not been coping with it well, to be honest. But let's not talk about that.
I was thinking: maybe we can ALL do something connected. Every day. Maybe we can all write poetry - 1 piece per day or more. Whatever style you want. Long or short. Doesn't matter.
Get the thoughts out of our heads and onto paper. Doesn't matter if the poem sucks.
I wrote this one right now and maybe in a few days I'll be embarrassed and...

Time to get creative - good thing that’s what we do anyways!
We can’t ignore what is happening to our Planet right now but we can try to make the best of it. I actually can’t believe I am typing these words and I’m describing reality. It’s shocking.
Tomorrow - if you can, let’s ...

Hi everyone!
First of all, I hope everyone is doing okay despite what is happening globally at the moment. It is a VERY scary time for everyone. The health risks are one thing but the absolute collapse of entire industries is terrifying. I know you have seen all the tour cancellations going on - there is nothing anyone can do about this and we are all basically in shock.
That being said - I am taking the opportunity to be in my vocal booth more and I was already on my writing re...

Hello Beastlings!
I hope you are all doing well!
I am trying to stay off social media and stay in the zone here in the wilderness. I have to say, I am experiencing a LOT of weird emotions while writing... frustration, panic, pride, desperation, joy, peace...
I guess that is what the creative process is all about! The full-on isolation is scary but refreshing. The album feels imposing and foreboding but also cathartic. It's a real journey, I have to say. I didn't kno...

What is Inspiration? The beauty of nature, the innocence of ignorance, the gravity of knowledge? It is a craving, a hunger that takes over my whole body and mind that only creativity can satiate. In today's visual voicemail I want to start a discussion with you all about what you do to get inspired!
Gold, Platinum and Blue Beastlings are already familiar with this format since this is where we do our Virtual Meet & Greets.

Hello Beastlings and happy Monday!
To any new Beastlings, welcome aboard and have fun digging through all the posts of the past here in the Fanclub!
Here, I am standing next to some of the very machines that documented some of the most iconic moments in cinema history dating back over 100 years. The American Society of Cinematographers has a walk-through museum of artifacts and memorabilia like this - it's really fascinating! Do you see the little headphones handing on the viewfi...

You know who you are! Thank you!!! 😎🤘
This is going to be a big writing year for me so I'm getting into gear now to make all of this happen! I can feel it all bubbling up inside my head so I have no choice but to let it out! This year has just begun and by the time it ends, I should have my most productive year to date when it comes to the creation of new art. Can't wait!!!

I found an old photocopy flyer for a show of mine from 2005!
"The Tempest" at the top left - that was my band at the time. My third band at that point. I drew that logo using a technical pen, french curves and a big illustration board. The details are actually quite nice and I remember bumming out that the photocopies didn't do it justice! I still have the original logo drawing somewhere. I didn't draw this octopus lady but it seemed to be based upon our one and only t-shirt design at ...

This is a purely anecdotal, personal post and has nothing to do with art.... but remember a few months ago when my EARS started ACTUALLY burning before one of my concerts and my body was instantly covered in hives?
Well, it happens a lot now! So I think it is a weird reaction to high-stress moments. Only started happening recently! Also sometimes accompanied by dizziness. I think it's just how my body is deciding to handle stress these days. Weird right?
Anyone else ever have the...

I've been feeling particularly visually inspired recently and I did this amazingly Canadian thing so I thought I would share some of my captures.
It seems to be becoming a tradition for me to cross the threshold of the new year in museums, light shows or just surrounded by art in some way. Do you have any NYE traditions?
The weather was mild and big, chunky snowflakes were gently floating down to Earth... it was quite magical.
When I'm sad, I can't make music. I can't sin...

Hello Beastlings! Thank you so much for making our charity donations so effective so far. For any new Beastlings, here's what we have accomplished (sorry, this will be long!):
We are the sole sponsors of an adorable pig named Princess Pomegranate (aka Pompom) who was rescued from laboratory testing and is now living a peaceful and happy life at Rancho Relaxo. I drove there and met her in person and although she still had burns all over her body from the chemical tes...

Happy New Year, Beastlings!
I really mean it. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
As most of you know, I have a devastating health situation with my fur-baby right now. I’m doing everything I can but my heart and head and soul are in a lot of pain trying to make sense of it all.
I want us to all enter this new year on a positive note though. So let’s stay positive and keep our heads high. Please hug your family for me and if you don’t mind, I’ll ...

Here's a little view of what is usually staring me in the face leading up to most tours. This is where I create or add the finishing touches to my stage outfits for each tour. I spend a LOT of hours here.
It's also where I fix Doyle's clothes and as you can see, sometimes write or work on lyrics (those Avalanche lyrics are the actual pencil-on-paper sketches that ended up in the album booklet).
The window faces west in this room and sometimes that's just the...

This art piece is over a decade old and originally intended to highlight the plight of the Iraqi people, but I feel it is still relevant and has even shape-shifted in its message.

LOL! Enjoy! Is that my first ever growl-attempt at 0:17?! 🤣
Is it weird that I REMEMBER doing this? As we've discussed, memory is a fickle friend and it is very possible I am just forming what my brain is recognizing as a long-term memory from the simple act of viewing my younger self in this clip. I feel like I really remember these moments though!
And if you're wondering why I'm looking off to the side, I'm fairly certain it is because my very crafty and inventive fath...

End of album cycle; end of year; end of tour; end of DECADE wrap-up! What a scary thought!
