This is uncut and unedited process from very start to finish if creating that map.
There are couple easy ways to improve it further, but i thought of them afterwards, so, if you wanna see some more tips - wait for next map :3

Im almost ready to release a kit that'll let you guys do the same with your maps, but i need to prepare it, write instructions, upload a gigabyte template to google drive...
And my uplaod here is 4-6 mbit/s, so that alone would take me eternity.

It's enough to do simple areas already. Im missing sand and water textures though. But of course there are water textures i have already, so only sand for the most part.
After that, and me making a decent map using all that, i will release those assets, textures and template(whuch is monstrous in size btw, already 500mb, might want to downscale it from 4096x4096...)

Hey all!
Im slowly preparing to add photoshop versions of my topo assets, in fact, i already got them as brushes, but i want to create a template with textures you guys could use for easy start.
Image above has only 2 layers of textures, im planning on making quite a bit more and make them all in to photoshop template. Probably will create a guide on how to use it for those who doesn't use photoshop.
I've heard GIMP can use photoshop brushes as well, but i never used GIMP.

Im done with it today!
Honestly i thought it'll work much worse, but it's pretty nice.
Next one is going to be some easy fancy textures pack most likely, but i think it's gonna be done next month.

I got my table and chair moved in new house, so i finally can work!
Started working on couple asset packs.
First one is ink spots, made irl and scanned by my friend T.A., 43 so far, but i finished only with 1 scan.
Second is quick showcase of texture objects, that let me do some really quick detailed textures for land, though base colormap for it is not really good for flat land, but it's just a test.

And i have wonderful news to tell.
T.A. - traditional cartographer, artist and my very good friend, is joining us at this patreon!
Tomorrow i will post first pack of assets that are taken from couple of his maps, they will be distributed under the same rules as my own assets, so it's just more assets for you all :)
Maybe he'll post his own maps as well, who knows, they are wonderful :3

Gathered test group this time, they practically saved color-friendly versions e_e
And helped to improve it, now it can be changed.

Well, i posted last thing promised for this one, so i can finally rest e_e
Im not tired of making assets though, it's just i was doing some asset work for friend and it was tedious, but at least he's gonna join ranks of asset creators now :3 I might share him later, when there will be more assets(im the one doing packs for him), maybe i'll manage to make him donate some to this patreon as well xD

I decided to crunch it today, so i finished new pack.
40 parts, ranging from small(~size of old assets) to gigantic(~3000x3000px) with much better level of detail, because it's based on special template, specifically made for creation of such mountains/landscapes.
In process there were some hiccups, like scrapping 2 hours of renders because of bug in software, first map being rendered somehow differently(leading to 5 objects being slightly different color, sorry for that), not g...

I made new template for Gaea that generates such region with mountain in center(and possibly smaller chains of them, but that part is random)
Currently rendering a bunch of them to later convert them, using technique i developed on islands pack, to topographic versions, colored, textureless and color-friendly :3
