After the hours spent on the first floor Ajax didn’t want to spend as much time on the second floor and quickly ran through the place cloaked in Shadow Mana while gathering any plants he could use for alchemy as well as killing any creatures whose body parts [Alchemist’s Examination] deemed as usable in combination with the molten plant.

Ajax took a moment to take a good look at Verya. It didn’t seem to him like she was lying but he had no way to verify it. That said he wasn’t about to risk pissing off any Ascended, especially if he would be going out of his way to do as he was already no planning on causing a dungeon break.

Ajax woke up refreshed after a long sleep, before exiting the dungeon however he did have one last thing he wanted to try out now that he upgraded his [Mana Syphon] with refuel. Approaching one of the arches for the next floor Ajax tried to drain it to see if he could refill his own Mana pool with those Mana types. 

Sadly while Ajax was able to get a bit of a better feel for the Mana types present he found he couldn’t actually pull any of the Mana from the arch into his own pool....

The closer Ajax got to the dungeon the more he started to run into these small gatherings of sentient races. Some of them were living more like humanoids did by adapting the environment to better house them while others didn’t change anything about the forest. What was clear however was that all these communities were at most the size of a small village back in Gryndor. He was very much surprised that whatever or whoever it was that he was feeling following him didn’t take advantage of his weakened state to make a move but he also felt the presence that was looking in on him show up more and more sporadically, rather than the almost constant presence it had been when he first sensed it.

Making his way through the forest Ajax happened upon the dead body of a large stag. It was the first such body he had encountered and the clear bit marks showed that whatever it was that had been eating it wasn’t finished with it but had in fact been interrupted and intended to return.

Ajax was slightly disheartened when HelSotHein had given him an more in depth explanation of how the Ascended races decided which dungeons to keep. Unlike humanoids the rest of them couldn’t get any bonus out of dungeons besides the access to a Mana dense location and strong enemies to fight.

Ajax didn’t get a moment to celebrate his successful shadow jump as he felt a burning pain shoot up from his leg. While his shadow jump had been successful it had also thrown Ajax outside of the shadow he jumped to leaving him open, more than that HelSotHein hardly seemed surprised by his move and reacted quickly enough that one of the heads sunk its teeth into Ajax’s leg.
