Weekly Update - Aug 6, 2017

Hey everyone, M here. It's been a quiet week production wise in the house of Mapping, but that's all about to change this week. We didn't plan it that way, it's just how stuff shook out.

This week we had:

  • my Life is Strange let's play continues into the harrowing episode 4, which still has not concluded. I already played it and my heart still isn't ready
  • m...

The Patreon Letters - August 5, 2017

Hey everyone, M here today. I have to admit I’m struggling to come up with a topic for the letter this week. Jackson kind of stole the idea I had for last week’s, and while I don’t begrudge them that, I’m sitting here staring at this blank screen with a sense of dread that puts me in mind of my young, fiction-writing days when blank windows were a constant source of stress.

I don’t really talk about it much anymore, but there was a good three years when my Internet Presence and free ...

Weekly Update - July 30, 2017

Hey friends! It's time for the weekly update, where I fill everyone in on what's happening over in the land of Abnormal Mapping.  It's been a busy week, so here we go:

The Patreon Letters - July 29, 2017

Hi everyone, Jackson here with this week's Patreon Letter! I've been spending an above average amount of time this past week (even for me) watching, reading and talking about Star Trek so, unsurprisingly, that's what I've sat down to write about.

A week ago, the big trailer for Star Trek Discovery dropped at comic-con, and the reaction in my circles has been somewhat muted. I've seen a lot of takes of people di...

Weekly Update - July 23, 2017

Hi everyone! This is the first of a new weekly series that breaks off the updates that were attached to the Patreon letter into their own post. This is in large part because locking updates away behind the $5+ tier was a bad choice, even if it means slightly more work from us to get two of these up a week. This'll be pretty short, at least.

The Patreon Letters - July 22, 2017

Hello everyone, M here again for this week's Patreon letter. If you notice, we don't have any updates for you today. That's because, going forward, the weekly update will be a separate post that we write and put up every Sunday for all Patrons instead of appended to the front of this writing. It didn't really make sense that useful links were behind this higher tier of pledging, anyway. If that means these letters appear a little shorter, then my apologies.

We're about to record our episo...

August's Game Club

Hello everyone! M here, with the August update for all patrons! We've been super busy settling into our new four-show schedule, but it's been nice to be busy as hell. Thanks to everyone for your support. I know most of the Patreon updates are focused at the $5+ tier, with the weekly writing and all, but every bit of support helps a lot.

We're probably going to change a bit of how that works. Right now we have a weekly updates portion of the Patreon letter that we're going to break out st...

The Patreon Letters - July 15, 2017

Hey everyone, it's Jackson here with another Patreon letter, hope you've all been well. Here are The Updates:

  • This week, we released a Beginner Friendly episode of Second Officer Slog, watching a couple of TNG episodes and reading the book Imzadi by Peter David. If you've got a more casual relationship with Star Trek and the DS9 Relaunch Series is ...

The Patreon Letters - July 8th, 2017

Hello friends, M here again with a new Patreon letter for a new month. Let's get down to business!

  • A new Abnormal Mapping came out yesterday! We liked our big soundtrack episodes in December so much that we decided to start doing them every six months. We're a little late, but only because it was so big to put together a...

Suggestions for August and a Small Change

Hey friends. You're all signed up for another month, and thank you again for all your Patronage. We're in a good place and figuring out our new more intense schedule and we can do that because of y'all.

Like last month, it's time for you all to suggest a game for us to play, this time for our August episode. Unlike last month, I don't have one we've been thinking about doing like I did for our July game, so voting this month will be entirely based on patron suggestions.

One other s...

Hi friends, and welcome to the latest exclusive Patreon letter! It's Jackson here, with the updates you crave. As ever, it's a busy time here at Abnormal Mapping HQ, so I'm going to break down the important happenings for you!

  • Yesterday we released Abnormal Mapping 64. It's one of our best episodes, two hours of extremely good Star Wars criticis...

The Patreon Letters - June 24, 2017

Hello everyone! M here again for another Patreon letter. First things first, as is tradition, some updates to get y'all started.

Our July Game Club!

Hey everyone, M here. We're at our first poll, which means every Patron gets to help vote on the game we'll play for next month. This will usually be pulled from our own working games list, and also suggestions offered up by $5+ patrons this month.

We only got one suggestion this month, which is surprising given how many games we haven't played that people love and talk about on the regular. I mean, I'm glad y'all enjoy the games we self select, but I expected people to have burning games to s...

The Patreon Letters - June 17, 2017

Friends, welcome, one and all, to the Patreon Letter. Things are extremely busy for me and I've found a moment to breathe for a couple hours and write this for you so let's get right to the updates:

A Quick Update For Everyone

Hey friends, Jackson here with a little update to Abnormal Mapping patrons! Here ya go:

First thing: $5 Patrons have until Monday to write game suggestions in for Next Month's Abnormal Mapping! After that, we'll be putting up these picks in a poll for everyone to vote on, which is going to be a lot of fun.

Second thing: we have a lot of patrons who haven't selected a reward tier, or who'...

The Patreon Letters - June 10, 2017

Hello everyone! M here again for another weekly update. We're in the middle of spinning a lot of plates, so excuse the bunch of updates in this piece.

  • We're still taking suggestions for games to play. So far nobody's really been forthcoming. If you're reading this, YOU can suggest a game and get it on our polls for next month. The poll will be going out next week so you only have like ten more days to suggest something.
  • Amory Score episode 4 came out this week, and it's th...

It's time for you to suggest things for us to cover!

Hello $5+ and up patrons! M here, for this update full of possibilities. Our first payments processed, which means that you all quality for the rewards set at this tier. That mostly means writing from me and Jackson every Saturday, but there’s more!

First, about the monthly hang out thing. We don’t have a ton of patrons, so we can do this in one of a couple ways. We could do a skype call. We could do a google hangout or a private stream over youtube’s live streaming service. This would p...

The Patreon Letters - June 03, 2017

Hey everyone, Jackson here with this week's Patreon Letters! This week is our first payment week(!!!), which is very exciting and means that when everything processes, we're going to move ahead with the first stage of bonuses and goals. What does that mean right now? Well let's break it down:

  • Later this week, we will be putting up the first posts for you to either vote on, or suggest Games for Abnormal Mapping, depending on your pledge level! I think (hope) Patreon will send you an email...

The Patreon Letters - May 27, 2017

Hello friends! M here again for your weekly dose of updates and thoughts. Let's hop right into it!

  • The new Abnormal Mapping, episode 63, went up yesterday . Our Myst talk has been literal years in the making, as it's one of the original games I wanted to cover when we started the podcast. Not many of those left. I'm indebted to friend of the show Hea...

The Patreon Letters - May 20, 2017

Hi folks, Jackson here with the second weekly letter for $5+ Patrons! These are fun updates about what is going on with the site, as well as some loose thoughts about whatever is on our minds this week. In olden times, I believe they called this “Blogging.”

But first up, the all-important updates:

  • Tomorrow we're recording Abnormal Mapping 63, where we'll be talking about Myst. It's gonna be a good episode, we're having Destiny with us to record so it's a very happy occasi...

The Patreon Letters - May 13, 2017

Hello everyone, and happy weekend. This is going to be the first of our weekly letter series for $5+ and up patrons, about what we've been up to and what's on our mind. I don't intend for these to be especially long, but you know how it can be when writers are given an empty page and a broad perogative to make something. So we'll just have to see.

First off, updates to the network in general:

- we're prepping to record Abnormal Mapping 63, covering Myst, which we'll do next w...

Many thanks and a first update!

Hello everyone, I wanted to take a quick minute to thank everyone for pledging and getting us over our first goal within like a single day. Hitting that first goal was the main reason we started this Patreon, and now that it's met we can do the podcast without worrying about how much it costs us out of pocket, and that's a big deal. We're a humble little show, so your support means a lot.

This post is going to be public, because I want people to be able to see what's going on right now. ...
