MARTINA 20.

I was lucky that my 20th shooting with Martina coincided with my will to experiment with my Profoto A1 flashlight, because the apartment was really dark!!!
On the first floor of a condo, with frosted glass at the windows and white curtains, so people couldn't look inside.
The apartment was also very small, so I used exclusively the Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AF-D on the Nikon D810.
The flash light + the Japanese 36MP sensor were providing a cold and clinical look to the pictures, so I am infus...

Shower.

Should I make peace with flashes, now that I have a decent trigger that actually works?
After all, the times I've used it, I got some good results, even if the experience was not free of issues.

Also for Martina on Friday, I will take with me the Leica SL2-S and the Nikon D810, and whichever I end up using, I will try to use it in conjunction with the flashlight, unless the natural light is overwhelmingly good...

But she can look at herself in the mirror as much as she wants!

105.

Even when the light is fading away, you can't stop snapping pictures of Martina.
It's a long time since I used this Nikon 105mm f2.5 AI-s, and it is a pity, because it worked very well!
It is the fault of the Contax-Zeiss Planar T* 100mm f2, that has bullied the similar focal length from Nikon away from the scenes.
Actually I tend to use the same 2 lenses every time indoors, changing the telephoto for outdoors risky adventures.
Maybe next shooting I'm going to dust some dust off o...

My cup of tea.

My experiment with tea or coffee cups to help my model assuming natural poses was very successful, and I will have to remember to use this trick also in the future.
In this photo, for example, Ania feels totally at ease, casual, as if I wasn't even in the same room with her, and with my huge black camera.
I was very happy about my first shooting with Ania, and the following 3 for that matter.
I hope we can manage to do at least one also this year!

Limelight.

I used 2 lenses during this last shooting with Sugar, mainly the Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AF-D, and a little less the Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm f1.8 AF-D.
This photo was shot with the latter.
The light is coming from the Profoto A1 (remotely trigged from the camera) on a tripod for studio lights that goes very high.
Imagine Sugar is up a stair + her hight, and yet the flash was slightly higher than her (you can see the shadow she is projecting on wall on her right.

Brand new shooting with Sugar!

I'm really getting fond of this model!
Sugar is a simple and kind girl, she is not intimidated by me (because she understands that I have no hidden purposes), and we're working very well together.
I had some technical issues, I always do when I use flashes, but everything went so smoothly that 2,5 hours were enough for me, and we stopped before the appointed time.
I shot only 287 photos, but the rate of success should be much higher than usual due to the flashlight.

This was shot with the Contax-Zeiss Planar T* 100mm f2, on the Panasonic Lumix S1.
When the Leica SL2-s arrived, the Lumix was downgraded as a videocamera only, but I must admit it was a powerful machine, also for BW!

Today I'm shooting with Sugar, I hope to prepare a preview for you in time for tomorrow.

I have chosen the main camera I will use on Saturday with Sugar, it is going to be the old and trustworthy Nikon D810, ideal to use with the Profoto flashlight and the new remote control trigger in auto mode.
Main lens is going to be the Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AF-D, luminous enough to autofocus even in low light scenarios.
In the past days I purchased the last 2 items, a lens hood for the 50mm, and a huge SD card dedicated to the 36MP Nikon flagship camera.
The D810 is indeed a great machi...

Warmth.

The feeling this photo transmit is of warmness, which is accurate as it was August 2021.
My "Saudek wall" in the house in Merate was still available, and complemented the skin colours of Linda very well, and I'm talking about colours in the plural form because the real contrast in this photo is between the tanned and the white skin tones...

Locations...

Locations are always a problem for me, especially from when I can't count on the house in Merate.
Nowadays I'm also prepared to pay for a hotel room, adding to the general budget but, for models like Sugar, that is preoccupied about not showing too much, the hotel room is not ideal.
For her I need to wait for the hot season and place her inside a huge abandoned environment that can share the stage with her.
The abandoned mansion was unfit to use any more.

She is not going to be wearing a Winter jacket this time, and she will happily stay naked all the while.

Yesterday I anticipated that today I was going to post one of the last photos I took with the aid of a flash, to show you the advantages of this technique over the natural light I normally use.

The main advantage I want to point out is the exceptional quality you can get with flashes, because of the medium apertures you can afford to use with so much light, that in turn ensures the optimal output from any lens you're using, and also ensures an additional depth of field with everyth...

Young people are not interested in cars.
In the countryside where I live it is still a necessity for the social life, because of the distances and the lack of public transports, but in the city it is utterly useless, and some youngsters don't even feel the necessity of getting a driving licence.

Good actress.

Quinn is a very good actress, capable of great expressions.
You could say that the filter provided by the looking glass is helping her to forget she is in front of my camera, or that it is easy because she is not looking into the lens, but the truth is she is just a great actress.

Cornered.

It is easy to shoot in a hotel room, clean and tidy, the model can walk barefoot and lean on the walls without worries of getting dirty; and light, although low, is enough for my style of photography.
In these conditions we can concentrate only on the beauty of our current model, in this case Sophy.

I find the consistence of Martina's breast really appealing, especially when she was younger (this photo is from May 2019).
Perfect dimensions, and great firmness.
The arm compressing one of the boobs is giving our fancy plenty of elements to think about, and we end up feeling even more driven towards this ideal specimen of woman!
