Bramley Apple

Just in time.

I'm always complaining about the opportunities I miss, but I should also stress how lucky I am, from time to time.
Bianca is a good example: she never modelled before, we made our shooting during the short period of time she was happy to pose nude, and shortly after she limited her exposure to chastised portraits.
In this single chance I managed to make some beautiful photos of Bianca and document her singular beauty for future generations.
This is exactly the mission of the Bramley ...

Un-makeup.

I'm not the only one experimenting.
Whilst I do it with cameras and lens combinations, the girls might do it with makeup.

This was one of the times Cristiana got it wrong...
That's why I went back to my "no makeup" policy with her, no point in ruining the great job nature has done with the face of this adorable girl.
And I also save time retouching the damages she might do to her appearance!

Long shot.

I like these full figure, long distance shots of a nice girl.
Not every time I can rely on such wide spaces, In my next shooting I will have to make do with a hotel room, but every time I get more space, I try to use it in the best way.

Overbooking.

I'm getting a lot of disappointments of late from my shootings, or lack thereof.
I manage to schedule them all right, but the models don't appear to materialise in front of my camera for various reasons.
That's why in the future I will have to take example from the airlines and do some overbooking, maybe not as much as overlapping two models on the same day, but at least trying to fill up every available Weekend with at least one shooting, just to be sure I get to do my minimum of one e...

Backing up?

Searching for new models is risky, and the one scheduled for last Monday turned out to be unreliable and unprofessional.
I guess very young ladies who are prepared to pose in the nude are somewhat a peculiar kind, and only few of them are taking this commitment seriously, as a true mission.
Girls like Cristiana are rare indeed, that's why I've been working a lot with her.
But of late I'm missing too much opportunities with other girls, so I'm seriously considering about lowering my s...

Resting like a flamingo.

At the end of the shooting, I was using a longer lens (Contax-Zeiss Planar T* 100mm f2), so I was going to crop in tight and said to Annalisa she could wear her socks, to warm up her feet.
After the last portraits, I noticed she was relaxing in this strange position, she tells me it is normal for her to rest like this, so I decided it was worth documenting!

Voyeuristic appeal of a telephoto lens.

One of the plus point of a telephoto lens is to keep you distant from the subject, like a paparazzi, the longer the focal length, the stronger the effect.
This Nikon 180mm f2.8 ED AI-s does a fine job of isolating Martina, and she seems unaware about our presence.
The flat view, strangely enough, makes all the volumes of her body stand out.

Filtered by glass.

If you are not with a person in a specific moment, and you're looking at a picture, or a movie, you are separated from reality by various layers of glass.
Mainly the lens (which should have as few elements as possible), but also a window glass, like in this image of Cristiana.
Glass is a way of isolating somebody from us, as if he was a prisoner living in a glass house and, at the same time, glass is capable of unleashing the soul of your subject, provided you are working well enough. 2022-04-15 07:31:00 +0000 UTC View Post

Untidy hair.

Many models have learned to play with their hair, and frequently they are getting it messy and sometimes the face results partially covered.
I usually prefer to see the face, but sometimes I like this mess.
After all, playing with the hair is somehow like playing with shadows to hide part of the dace or body...
In this case, the hair leave us the whole face of Stefani free.

Bad luck.

Cars are not reliable, at least the ones of my models.
Last Saturday I missed another shooting.  
I was supposed to shoot with a new model coming from Modena, but her car was broken and she didn't manage to come.
It happened also with Sophia, a long time ago...

This is Bianca leaning on my Caterham Seven (it too a pretty unreliable piece of transport), she seems to mock me about the unreliability of cars in general, and particularly the ones of my models...
Maybe it is ...

Eye bags.

So many young girls have some kind of eye socket problem, particularly Cristiana and Annalisa.
I can spend hours retouching these darker areas (and I'm doing so, slightly, without overturn their features), but that is part of the charm of these modern girls, what makes them genuine young ladies instead of movie stars.
Also, I'm pretty sure it is mostly a problem for me, and less for the people watching at my pictures.
Maybe I should stop doing all that useless work, maybe I will... n...

Goddess or girl next door? - 2 of 2

In my pictures I alternate these two aspects for my models, and I'm not sure which one I prefer.
Yesterday I showed you the untouchable Goddess approach, today I show you the approachable next door girl version, still basking in the same majestic light, but looking vulnerable and in need of consolation...

Skin color.

This sofa in the swinger club must have witnessed some pretty hot stuff, but I suppose it rarely accommodated a beautiful girl like Martina.

I was talking to one of my new colleagues about the Leica M Monochrome today, and saying how much I would like to have one, but also that I couldn't give up the color in photography!
This is a typical example of a picture that I'm happy to have in both versions, it exemplifies why I'm unable to choose between the 2 versions sometimes...

Eye in the sky.

Stella has some of the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen, of a light blue colour I would have loved when I was younger.
Her eyes were even more evident when we met, and she was dressed up for Winter mostly in white.
But also in this picture you can really see her eyes well, thanks to the excellent job of the  Leica Summicron-M 90mm, so don't get distracted by her nudity!

Ok, now that you've had a good look at the eyes, you can check out her thin skin, that is almost transpar...

Un bel dì vedremo...

Another picture from the last shooting with Cristiana on March, you can spot the same cup I showed you in a previous photo.

These were apartments for rent in Milano, and each one was dedicated to an opera singer, we were staying in the Renata Tebaldi apartment.
On the wall, behind the head of Cristiana, you can see the out of focus version of the same picture I have dowloaded from Wikipedia, showing the famous soprano dressed as Butterfly, one of her best roles on stage.
Not sure ...

Looking up at Corine.

In this picture, Corine was standing on the bed, and my camera was about the height of her belly button, so I was slightly looking up at her.
In this picture she feels more important and detached, less intimate with us, like a goddess of some kind.
You could accentuate this effect even more by lowering your camera even further, just be careful the model does not shows a double chin when she looks down on you...

Level up on Corine.

Yesterday I showed you a picture of Corine looking down on her.
Today I show you this example in which I am at the same level as her eyes, it is a more friendly and respectful approach to your subject at the same time.
Tomorrow I will show you the last example where I'm looking slightly up at her, so you can tell me which one you feel more appropriate...

Looking down on Corine.

I normally avoid looking down on a model, I much prefer to be on level with her or even look up to her from an even lower position.
There is nothing wrong with the towering approach in this picture, I just feel it is a slightly less respectful point of view on a human being, and I seldom try it, just for a change.
In the following days I will show you a levelled and looking up examples of the same model, so you can make up your mind about what vision you might prefer.

In the cockpit 2 of 2.

Compare today's picture with the Bianca's one of yesterday, not to choose between the girls as both are way beyond gorgeous, but to see different approaches to posing in a cockpit.
The good news is that I should be able to show you more of Martina in the future because, as far as I know, she is still posing in all the styles we've learned to appreciate (and we can't live without).
The nude career of this model is still running, pedal to the metal!

I love the contrast between the cold aluminum and the warm flesh of Bianca in this photo.
Touching this car is pleasant, but I guess touching the skin of Bianca could be even more pleasing, I hope the image can give you that kind of tactile feel.

Confirmed!

Yesterday I was confirmed for my third trial period in the new job until August, whilst other people were not.
This is a though period for many businesses, because of Covid first and Putin next, so I was lucky to keep my job.
The only bad news is that I will still have limited amount of time for my photographic work on nudes, but I will try to use it in the best possible way, for example searching for new exciting models like Linda...
