Bit of a weird machine!

So I’ll touch again on this in a few days it has been modified it seems since it’s original use as a bell programmer. It’s from the 40’s ish. The bottom control panel and motor were not originally there hence my confusion when talking about the mercury switches but I will get to the bottom of this. This is not what the analog church bells are for however it should be enough of a clue as to what the church bells are needed for!

A Look At July Plans + YOUTH8500 LIVE.WAV

attached is the live version WAV. quite pleased how it turned out reasonably similar to the recorded version minus the polyphonic pads in the chorus, I guess it was down to the fact the recorded version was pretty much a live take with vocal and polyphonic synth overdubs.

also I do plan on doing a livestream at some point once and for all putting all the names I have missed onto knobs in the museum :D. it will take a day probably but I will find one this month.

Song Out Next Week "YOUTH8500" heres A POV Shot Of Performing it

So i realised because i had been practicing with mic in 1 hand and synth the other hand, realised i could swap the mic with a camera and show what the plan is, i got the days wrong, im filming this today so i re arranged the setup to make it simpler to play. So yeah now in essence its a pretty simple song to play. There are 2 main dynamic sections and before it was about 4 switches that needed switching near enough at the same time, but i just wired all of those up to the mega duck relay modu...

Livestream working on the next song out on 2 july

Im recording a live version of my new song which is out in about a week tomorrow in a white room and i need to practice it i figured i should play where im at on a really quick live stream. so people can watch it back.

i forgot to mix the vocals into the mic so it may very well be the instrumental part as the vocals i gotta practice tomoz to multitask haha

Sound Pack from the Strowger Setup

so ryan mentionned he would like more sounds in the comments on the patreon vlog i did about them so here we go! it is one long file however attached is the wav of it all. i recorded them with and without the motor whirring and also recorded all of the sounds from it including some rotary phones and bells.

also apologies about this being a bit of a deviation from the usual! will be back on synth mallarky in the next video as making the controller for the megadrone :)

New machine for tomorrow’s video!

So yeah. This is where the strowger trail has lead. It’s a perfect piece for the museum to be used behind a polycarbonate screen of course. I caught it at just the right time it seems as Richard was about to part it out and put it on eBay because he said he would have thought no one would want something like this as a whole.

Thanks a lot for helping us find this thing. I sold a couple of things the other week to pay for the 10x10 pixel strowger project which I’m still planning to d...

So tonight leaving no stone unturned. starting from the bottom. with an atari punk console from start to finish, from schematic to breadboard to stripboard to enclosure in an attempt to answer the most common question, where to start! this one is a public livestream, i figured i should do this video as a livestream because then people can watch back follow along, no edits etc.

Relay Speed Test And Relay Realtime Quantization Plan

So the relay sequencer is finally getting to the reliability and speed that this beat step pro style sequencer idea may actually work.

after the points covered in this video its the harsh realisation of the amount of relays required. also maybe a tester with less steps first who knows. for instance if I was to make a 128 step sequencer like I mentioned for melodies. plus 8 bit note memory bank for each step we are talking about 1600 relays just for the melody sequencer (x2 for 2 melodie...
