DISCORD REWARDS!

5YL Update #10!

The part of the comic I'm on, I can't show anything from it yet, so here's a little flashback fact!

For Chapter 6: Weightless, the cover was to be a parody of the poster for Captain America: Civil War. As I usually do with my covers, I was attempting to do it in a more realistic/ detailed art style.

5YL Chapter 8 UPDATE #5

One thing that audiences commonly over-look in regards to the process of developing a web-comic is:

 LITERALLY. EVERYTHING. Has to be designed.

And not just a simple "Oh, what should this look like? What would look the 'coolest'?"

Every design has to be practical. It has to make sense to the character. It has to easily exist in the world that it is represented in. It has to match the theme of the character and/ or environment. And from and artistic standpoi...

Also, just cause I'm in a sharing mood, here is a look at raw art vs post-rasterizaion, clean-up, and coloring. 

Certain panels have characters too small for me to draw to show their features, so I draw them on a separate sheet of paper, then shrink them down.

As we continue to move further along the production of 5YL, it makes me think about the important of things staying on-model. I think it's fine for characters or objects to go off-model as long as they are still recognizable. For instance, when drawing Mickey Mouse, you can have the shape of his eyes change from circles to ovals all you want, but the shape of his ears MUST be perfect circles and NEVER be presented from a side-view. Recognizing the key elements to a character is very important...
