Just wanted to inform you that Patron finally added monthly subscription regardless of the day you sing up, you will get charged the same day and the next time a month later. Until now billing was only possible from the 1st of a month, thus you got charged when you signed up and then on the 1st of the next month again, which was annoying for those who signed up at the end of a month, they were immediately charged again some day later.

I was surprised how well the small Encore could keep up with the larger one up to maximum volume, but battery life is really bad which is the main reason I will return the Encore again, apart from that definitely one of the best and most impressive partyboxes from JBL so far.

After having finished the Enciore/Boombox 3 video I immediately shot this video where the Encore battery died. It was not fully charged but LEDs indicated like 75%. Having played for maybe 40 minutes altogether the battery performance of the Encore seems pretty weak. I haven’t charged the Tribit since my last videos against the Boombox 3 and it is still going strong. So keep that in mind if you consider getting the Encore. I was actually shocked how horrible these “Devialet drivers” performed. Although allegedly equipped with some tweeter the speaker suffers from heavy intermodulation and severe distortion issues already at low levels. And people are talking about “marketing fail” by Earfun. Now this is what I would call marketing fraud.

Unfortunately the camera got the last minutes of the video corrupted, maybe due to overheating, therefore at the very end there will be only a black image, sorry for this.
IMO the Encore is a better package for some outdoor party than the Boombox 3, with better and deeper and a more kicking bass while being lighter and much cheaper. Only negative point could be battery life.
It has to be seen how well the Tribit Stormbox Blast can compete here, so stay tuned!

Anker fixed the overheating issues which plagued the Motion Boom Plus with some new model, at the same time they fixed the weird treble response with the latest firmware 0.36. Definitely a much better deal than a JBL Xtreme 3 for example, but still not usable for low levels due to disappearing bass etc.
