B5 Chapter 62: Innocent

I stared at the scene, taking in the people along with Myol’s ferocity in her gaze. If she showed surprise at my lack of a reaction to her aura she didn’t show it, or at the very least, kept it under wraps.

“First of all, what evidence is there? Very curious as to how this information came to your hands,” I said while directing my gaze toward Ulaeyes.

“I do not answer to you!” he retorted.

Myol applied pressure around his throat and shook her head. ...

Chapter 61: Detain Him!

(Moog is alive-- Also sorry for the delay, google docs deleted the chapter 85% of the way through and I had to redo it. Hope yall have a good weekend!)

Galarion exploded in a shower of flowers and cotton candy. His large form shrank into the size of a bloated puppy before he lazily floated closer.

Enjoy your meal?” I asked.

He grabbed the sides of my face and bashed his squishy head into mine. “Very… Full. Sleepy.

Go rest. Are...

B5 Chapter 60: Shakedown

Zagreus deposited Peter at my feet and sat back on his haunches with his tail wagging.

I patted the nearest head and gestured to the man. “Did you want some of his blood?”

Two of Zagreus’ heads hissed and the other two shook their heads.

No. Awful smell. Rotten body. Don’t want it.

“I see. He does look pretty foul. Do you want some of Sereza’s blood?”

Yes!

I summoned a pre-filled bucket containing some...

B5 Chapter 59: Underestimate

Prismatic specks sprouted from Zharia’s feathers. The flames surrounding her turned more solid, the fire dripping onto the sand and scorching the grains black.

Zagreus’s chest expanded and he leaned forward as the blood around his body bubbled and frothed. Dark red turned maroon followed by of black and green dripping along the edges of his scales.

He hissed and stomped the sand flat, shaking the earth.

“No matter how many tricks you reveal, you will ...

B5 Chapter 58: Mine to Control

The mana burned, twisting and thickening where it touched–attempting to consume my limb.

Bind! Shackle! Chain! Ground the bird. Remove it’s wings! Bi-

Ding!

Golden threads sprouted from my throne accompanying the chime bell. Around my soul a faint golden light suffused the world, tinting everything in it’s luster.

A pulse from its end shot down its body, inflating the bands around my arms like giant balloons. My claws found purchase ...

B5 Chapter 57: What You're Worth

Metal screeched as the hammer bore down. For a second, the shining aura of mana inside the device flickered out of existence.

Then all at once, a murky gold wave of mana exploded forth. The energy stretched across the sand, my body and theirs. It rose high into the air past the  pillar and well above the seats of the stadium till it stopped and folded inward.

Writhing threads branched out, connecting together. As they touched, they flattened and the muddled gold t...

B5 Chapter 56: What Are You Planning?

I kept my stance casual, spinning my spear while displaying a wide grin for Blondie. He avoided looking my way at first, but his eyes eventually veered toward me while the others pretended to size each other up.

His hesitancy quickly shifted to annoyance then anger as I widened my mask’s smile.

“You’ve been lucky so far. That changes today. It doesn’t matter if you have those damn Lightcrests in your corner. You’re but a misguided adventurer thinking he’s a...

B5 Chapter 55: Between Rounds

(So yes. Suuuuper late Friday Chap. There'll be two chaps next week as usual. Life just kicked me a little hard when I thought I could stand my ground. Apologies. Hope you enjoy, and hope you enjoyed the weekend :) )

What do you say, Galarion? Think we got this?”  I asked.

He grunted and slammed a tentacle through my brain, triggering a sequence of flashing images. They rapidly scrolled through my thoughts and I slipped forward as my vision vibrated. Piec...

B5 Chapter 54: Poison vs Poison

While Sereza made her way down the arena steps, my mind wondered back to what I had done. More correctly, what Zog’s skill had done to me.

Ragnarok was a thing from old myths back on Earth. Nothing more than a tale told to kids or used by television to entertain the masses. The name in of itself shouldn’t have meant anything. It was just a story.

However, so were elves and dragons.

It could mean nothing. Hells, it probably is nothing.

Yet the t...

B5 Chapter 53: Reactionary Aura

(Welp. I finished the chap. Had to rewrite a little bit to get a certain plot detail in and by doing so I realized I made a big boo boo. I failed to catch that I gave Zog's perk the same effect name as Cyrus' skill. Chaotic Resonance and Chaotic Resonance smh. I'll go back and change it throughout the weekend. Just know that Zog's effect is now called Chaotic Echo. Enjoy the weekend folks. --Llama)

Chapter 52: Enticing Display (Zog Pov)

Zog raised his fist looking toward the enchanted crystal.

He was in the top right booth. Watching, waiting, judging. That man probably wanted to go first, but Zog didn’t mind the opportunity to show off. If it helped convince him to fight Zog faster, all the better.

For all that he pushed Zog away, Cyrus couldn’t hide from him. He saw the thrill of battle fill his body all the same, like a true adventurer, like himself.

Zog lowered his arm and marched into...

Small Emergency

Sorry. Super late chal but there'll be one tomorrow. Was forced to handle an emergency that popped up and I'm just barely sorting through it.

Don't worry. As stated. There'll be a chap sometime tomorrow. And there'll be a chap on Friday. It'll happen even if I have to pray to some eldritch writing god to do it.

B5 Chapter 51: Just a Suggestion

“You’re being insensitive,” Celenae explained.

“Am I?” I pointed to the  letter. “The more I learn about this creature you call a dad the more I dislike him. Sereza isn’t a daughter to him. She’s property. Like a stray puppy he decides is valuable enough only if he can show it off.”

“That’s her father, Cyrus. Horrible man or not, he’s still her parent. Some sensitivity and thoughtfulness would go a long way for someone you claim as your friend.”

B5 Chapter 50: Oddity after Oddity

As I woke, I blinked sheepishly into the dimly lit room. I waited and waited. The snippet of impending smoke and ash didn’t come, instead leaving me with a peaceful silence and calm breaths.

“Looks like it worked just fine. I guess the smelly grease isn’t so bad after all,” I sighed.

Without nightmares to disrupt my awakening, I stood up and walked to the bathroom. With a tap of my tail, the room’s lights turned on and I leaned toward the mirror. My skin looked flawless ...

B5 Chapter 49: Rune Review

(longer chap, not entirely happy with it, but it'll do for now. Hope y'all have a great weekend!)

Soothing energy glided over my skin while mint and fresh berries filled my nose. I groaned and tried to sit up but a dainty hand firmly held me back.

Not yet,” Áine commanded.

I kept my eyes shut and let the fairy work. Slowly, the sharp stinging from the back of my head eased and I felt my nose itch. Two small hands grabbed onto the sides of my nostrils an...

B5 Chapter 48: Runic Knowledge

I set the book down and let it rest on the table. Closing my eyes did little to relieve the rhythmic pounding; nor did it help ease strange burning around their edges.

Galarion pulsed in distress, his tentacles reaching through my body like a ghostly parasite. The poor little guy couldn’t find his prey. For all the meals Galarion enjoyed thanks to the usual unwanted headaches or stress clawing at the insides of my brain, there was no sense of pain for him to devou...

Chapter 47: Conversation and Bathworks

“Is something wrong?” Zog asked first.

I approached and thrusted the steaming mug into his hands before plopping onto one of the  couches.

“Besides a lot of things, no,” I said.

He inspected the mug and sniffed the drink. After swirling the drink for a few seconds he daintily tipped some into his mouth and then swished it around.

“Sweet. New flavor, a hint of numbing spice.” He lowered the drink and wiped a drop from his tusk. “Rich brown, adde...

“No,” I said flatly.

“No?” Zog replied.

“No.”

“You haven’t heard what I wanted to say yet.”

“Don’t need too. Come on Khrem, let’s run away.”

“I don’t think that’s possible,” Khrem said, pointing to the gathered men behind Zog. “Your friend’s friends have blocked our path. I’d unleash a smoke explosive but that might be frowned upon.”

B5 Chapter 44: A Solution

(Didn't feel like making ANOTHER post as to how the chapter was still coming but a little late. TLDR, and I won't go into it, had some uncomfortable news during the weekend. Going to be a bit of a rough next couple of weeks for now, but it won't impact chapters other than when they get released. There will still be the 2 chaps for the week, just again not during the usual time. I'll try to post em when they normally would when I can, but no promises. Anyway, enjoy the chap :) )

B5 Chapter 43: Finishing the Day

The mountain lion-headed beastkin spun around. Fire broke across his shield creating a torrent of hissing steam. He slammed his staff against the stone, and sent the boiling water to the sides taking out the rogue pair pincering him into the corner.

The fire caster lifted their wand, a swirling ball of flames at its tip. Before she could unleash the fireball, the beastkin stomped and launched upward. The jet of water carried him like a missile, blasting him over the caster’s head.

Patreon Update Regarding Subscriptions

As the title says, and I'm sure some of you already know through other patreon creators, but there was an update sometime November regarding how payments work with apple pay.

TLDR: They are charging more, and taking more. Pretty much means that if you try subscribing through apple pay it'll cost more. I recommend to just go through Patreon itself.

Nothing too major, but enough that it's annoying. Late Update over. Enjoy the chap in half an hour, and enjoy the weekend!

Chapter 42: Finishing Move

In the pit, more fighters went down. Roughly eighteen fighters stood, fighting to secure a spot. Shiny boy, was embroiled in a defensive duel between a human warrior with a large, bulbous stick. His shield did an admiral job at blocking the attacks but the man’s skill was strange.

Every hit caused the  tumor atop the wooden staff to grow in size, and shift away from the chestnut-colored wood toward a sickly yellow.

The warrior swept in a diagonal line across Vincent...

Chapter 41: Zog!

Her body flew through the air in a tangle of limbs as her sword went flying below. To the caster’s credit, a second barrier sprung into existence, flowing from his staff as the slingshot band flattened out. It rose to defend them, catching the woman’s body in a swirling sheet of water.

She spun and tumbled then veered to the right as she rocketed across the slab.

Zog started to fall but he leaned forward, and activated his movement skill. Flames jetted from his feet and he...

B5 Chapter 40: Second Round

Scanning the area revealed nothing amiss to my senses, and Absolute Authority remained dormant. I only caught the tail-end of the mages guild repairing what damage the slabs have suffered, and then saw Yvonne sweep through the broken cogs of the enchantments and fix the frayed mana. When she finished, her eyes roamed toward our booth, earning a few sighs from those inside the booth.

“You need to stop attracting stalkers. We can’t handle another weirdo. What if she’s a sci...

Gently trying to remove her fingers failed. With more force I pried them loose and pushed her to an arm’s length. “Listen, I don’t think you understand me. I’m an adventurer not an enchanter.”

Her grip doubled in strength as she switched from vying for my collar to clutching my wrists. Yvonne leaned closer, her eyes blazing, in the dimly lit tunnel.

“Such wasted potential! Adventuring is admirable work, but with a skill good enough to replicate an enchanter’s wor...

It burned and my blood boiled as the supercharged air sought to cleanse me from myself. It invaded my channels but met the mana inside my body and paused. When the two collided the hesitation turned was enough for my ma...

Chapter 36: Boom

(A bit of a longer chap, enjoy! Sorry for the delay)

There was a lull, like an intake of breath around us. One kept his sword pointed toward my chest while more of the crystalline spines formed along his hands.

An arrow whizzed overhead but it wasn’t enough to disrupt the calm, the pause from his declaration.

Ruby shards glazed over his knuckles and his grip tightened, creaking the leather of his sword. “Remember to leave the final blow to us, and you’ll be compens...
