When AMD merged with ATI, many said it was either a silly decision by AMD, or that it was a prude decision that would pay-off in a decade...not that many cared about the consolidation aspect.
Yet here we are in 2021 - Nvidia is trying to buy ARM, and Intel is gobbling up tons of smaller companies and groups of engineers. Meanwhile in gaming, Microsoft is buying up tons of developers as well to seemingly force their service into a success through monopoly. What do we think about it...

I cannot think of a better guest to have on after Alder Lake's launch than Steve from Hardware Unboxed. For this week's Die Shrink the MLID Brothers think it would be best to carve out a specific facet of the ADL conversation - Who is ADL for now? Who is Zen 3D going to be for? Who should just wait for Zen 4 and beyond?
There's also heavy discussion of how ADL compares to Sandy Bridge, and other upcoming upgrades like Rembrandt and Mobile ADL.

AMD's AM1 platform was an insane development for “Ultra Budget” Builders of the time. It allowed for builds that roughly matched (then) current gen console CPU performance at crazy low prices, and occupied a segment we hope things like AMD Monet or some Intel Gracemont-only architecture can occupy again.

Broken Silicon's next guest will be Keith Kadera - a veteran of Ubisoft. He is currently an "animator," but has been a concept artist, modeler, texture artist, rigger, UI artist, and much more in his decades at Red Storm.
