I had to get this one out of my system, just to see how this kind of animation is done.  It's a pretty crude first attempt, but it taught me a few things.  Barring any unforeseen weirdness, I'll be moving back to Unit 68 in the next week or so,

Just playing around with the new toy while files transfer.  I think the future is gonna be awesome.

Gummi Girl v2

While transferring my files over from the Mac to the Monster, I decided to have another go at the gummi texture.  The original version took three days, and timed out after 78% completion.  The Monster did 100% completion in eight and one-half minutes! I will resume Unit 68 just as soon as I can.

Opus_01 in Iray

Playing around with my new box while transferring files and seeing what housekeeping remains to be done.  Some of the files will have to be re-installed manually, but I won't know which ones until I actually try to use them.

This image took all of four minutes to render.  I swear this new computer is stupid fast.

Bad news and good news and bad news.

We'll start with the bad news.  Unit 68 is going on hiatus for a short while.  This is because of the good news, which is that I bought myself a new computer (financed in part by your continued patronage).  It is lightning fast at rendering, doing in seconds what used to take hours.  My old rig would sometimes not even finish some renders, timing out after several days in some cases.  The above image, which was only ever a rough test, took all of 25 seconds to render....

A change of pace

Hi, all.  I've been working on a little project for my friends at Metrobay, so no Unit 68 this week.  In lieu of that, I have made the first tale in Tammy's House of Curious Antiques available for the $1 tier.  Scroll back up a few weeks and you'll see it.  For you $2 folks, I should have something for you a little later in the week.  Of course, I will post my Metrobay work as well.

A word to the wise, don't shop for exercise equipment at Tammy's House of Curios and Antiques.

Artist's note: this was definitely an experiment, but one I shall continue with when time permits.  There are correctible issues, namely face and nipples (nibbles?).  I expect I shall have to use a different hairstyle, but no worries.  I have lots of hair props.  The major downside is that this render took three full days, and even then the render maxed out at 78% completio...

Unit 68 Chapter 5 - Bonus Image

One of the perks that goes along with the artist gig is that I get to see camera angles that nobody else gets to see.  In creating the image for page 20, I had to swing the camera around so that I could make sure the Hive Queen's hand was properly on the alcove's charging table, and this "massive orbs blotting out the sun" angle happened.  I thought I'd share.

Norah Wilde and the Gynoid

The woes of an artist.  I picked up this gynoid a while back, and thought I'd give her a try.  I'm mostly satisfied with her, except this model does not come with any sort of helmet, as seen in the first image.  In the second image, I tried adapting the Unit 68 helmet (Unit 68 gynoids and the red one above are different generations, so things don't always fit right), which worked, but doesn't cover the red bit up at the top.  There is a cool sort of helmet for this version...
