I watched the human stuff her bag and face with food from the pantry. She seemed she was enjoying herself immensely, but this appeared a much less relaxed way to consume food than I was used to seeing. Usually, humans sat and immobilized themselves during this process. Maybe she didn’t know how to properly take a break?
That gave me an idea. I waited until she had finished filling her bag, then gave a few short excited beeps to get her attention. I wanted to share something with her. ...

I looked at the human in shock. Who knew she would be so bloodthirsty? Besides, exterminate what? I swiveled around, looking for a possible mess maker. All I saw were the water tanks. I supposed the tanks themselves did make a bit of a mess. They splashed and left water stains on the floor occasionally. As the water evaporated, salt and other particulates were left behind.
The calcium buildup was one of the hardest things to get rid of. In fact, I didn't think I could do it now, even wi...

Once the last person made it to the room, Zim shut the door. The light in the ceiling brightened a little, and Sevs looked around and was greeted with a familiar sight. It was a training room; there were no bags, though. It was just a large room with mats along most of the ground. The far wall was lined with mirrors.
Zim gave the last person a whole thirty seconds to catch his breath. It was the chubby kid who was the first to stop running. After a moment of silence, he chivvied them al...

The idea was that Spot would be sitting on something like pride rock and facing a fire demon behemoth. I was going to have a ash falling over lay and it was going to look EPIC. Well that was what it was in my head. I was playing with an AI a bit and had a lot fun doing it.
I thought I would share a few of the more interesting results with you all since I wasn't doing anything with them. Some look really dumb but made me laugh. Some were perfect but AI does not like roombas fr...

The small human looked to be feeling much better. Sadly, my pillow delivery was too late, as she had already woken up. I still left it on her blanket for the next charging session. She had been awake for at least a few minutes, judging by how she had already undone the wrappings on her ankle. Now she could move much more smoothly and didn't need the large stick she had been using. I was glad to see the repairs had gone off without a hitch.
When I rolled in, she was wiping down the glass...

Now is not the time, mysterious voice. I let out a distressed beep as I used my newfound energy to circle around the group of minor demons. However, the voice was not to be ignored.

Fine. I swerved around the pillars to put them between me and the horde. Fine, fine, fine. I didn’t know what a flamethrower was, but a fire, in general, wouldn’t be a healthy choice for the flooring or the rugs; that's not an option. Sandblasting might be nice if I intended to strip paint, ...

0600 came much too quickly. Sevs had gotten decent sleep, but when the lights came on bright, with a tall, grown man in uniform standing at their door and he was not ready.
“WAKE UP, wake up, wake up.” That was the refrain as he walked down the hall. Pounding his fist exactly once next to the head of every recruit. After the first call rang out when he opened the door, the volume didn’t change. It wasn’t particularly loud, but the pitch was just such that you couldn’t ignore i...

When I was at home, my best friend was the TV. Not that we ever talked. We just had a mutual understanding. I was lucky enough that my humans had placed my bed in the opposite corner of the TV. Therefore when I was docked, I could watch whatever was on the TV while I charged. I usually was a fan of dramas or home improvement/buying. The inside of houses for sale was always very well cleaned. However, I didn't really get to control the TV. That was the purview of humans. The large female human...

Sevs turned around. What was this, some sort of hazing? Once he got a good look at the source of the voice, that thought left his mind. Sevs’s bunk was second to the bottom, so the drawer sat just above his knees. A head popped out to a bunk behind him, the bunk closest to the floor.
“Sup, I’m Jason.”
“Sevs.”
“Man, why are you so old?”
“Took my time in the tutorial and had a bit of fun.” Jason seemed young. Like really young. Sevs wasn’t sure how ...

With a fair amount of struggling, Bee freed herself from the blanket’s grasping clutches. Carefully she stood up. Looking down at her injured leg, she saw the wraps loosely pooled around her foot. The swelling had gone down since this morning, even more than the previous day. What surprised her most wasn't the healing but the lack of pain. She moved her ankle and felt almost full mobility. It felt slightly stiff as if she had rolled it the day before. But that was all. She shifted her weigh...

Bee stared at the stacks of books lining the wall. While she prepared for her next round of treatment, Void had apparently been stacking books. Why? Just… why?
The stacks were not very high. They varied wildly in height, the tallest being only a couple feet off the ground. Looking closely and counting, Bee realized each stack was exactly 14 books tall. But why, though? This made no sense.
As she stared uncomprehendingly, Void beeped at her. It almost surprised her that the unear...

“What do you mean by somewhere? You don’t know?”
“Yes and no. It’s not that we don’t know where people are sent to. Well, we don't know where. It's just the place they are sent... it could be anywhere. Maybe eight of ten find their way back, or we can get to them. However, if your ship is destroyed... there is a very real chance you are not coming back.”
Then they were there. The first stopped at another desk where they scanned Sevs finger and eyes. So he wo...

That was not good news, Sevs thought. It was standard practice to have some orientation that helped newcomers learn the mechanics and get their feet under them. Usually, that meant a couple adventures where the guide gotta keep most of the rewards. He had actually helped set some of the first ones up. They generally were worthwhile and benefited both parties. This didn’t seem so. Unless the cost of living was really so high.
Alex, reading Sevs face. “I know it sounds steep. It reall...

Sevs stumbled again. As he walked, his balances adjusted. It was almost like being on a boat and getting his sea legs. The more steps he took, the more comfortable he became. He tried a few martial arts moves, but they didn’t come easy. Taking a minute, he spent some time getting used to the fact that Sevs could walk almost normally again. Still, with a slightly unsteady gait, he began examining the room. He found nothing but smooth walls, floor, and ceiling. The corners between the cap of ...

When Sevs got home, Father was waiting for him at home. Sevs dropped in his bag and plopped in his usual spot. When he looked up, he saw something was off in Father’s face. He looked Sevs in the eye for several seconds. Sevs returned his gaze, unsure how he could even begin to say goodbye. After a couple seconds, something passed between them. Father nodded. “You have to go then, son?”
Sevs just nodded. Father got up and walked to the liquor cabinet to pour a drink. Staring at Fat...
