50 Cartoon Crushes: Gluko ("Mon Colle Knights", 2001)

Crush Class: A (adult)

AKA 'Gooco' of "Rokumon Tengai Mon Colle Knight", one of the quirky girl sidekicks of a goofy Team Rocket-esque baddie in YET ANOTHER 2000s monster collect/battle show. I actually bought a figure of her 'cause I enjoyed the character. It was an anime I found fun to watch as it was pretty silly to start with, and the English dub leaned even heavier into it.

Count Eccentro: "It's so hot! We're all sweating like pigs!"

Gluko: "I don't sweat like a pig, I ...

Finishing up this comic with the high-res and WIP files. Thanks to you all!

50 Cartoon Crushes: Angel ("Rock and Rule", 1983)

One of those awesome cult animated films perhaps best described as 'What if "Heavy Metal" & "A Goofy Movie" had a child?'. You can tell who the best characters are by how mesmerized you are by the lavishly animated luscious lips on their faces.

50 Cartoon Crushes: Kitty ("The Great Mouse Detective", 1986)

A Disney movie character without much screen-time or plot relevance, but a strong fandom impact, especially in furry circles. Got a nice little talking cartoon mouse mystery movie? Shall we toss in a musical number sexy mouse burlesque girls in a seedy bar? Sure! Why not?

"Stellar Voyages: The Naked Never" -page 1

Here's the first page. Next month will probably concentrate more on Holly & Doug, as I'm still working on 3D sets & stuff for this comic with pages & art depending on that in part. Next in line is a nice hallway and crew quarters, then the main bridge.

Gotta love then foot-pumpies in the wall!

Cartoon Crushes July Special Preview

Coming around the end of July, receiving the special-edition color artwork will be Felicia Hardy, AKA Black Cat from the 'Spider-Man' comics/franchise from Marvel. As usual, if you have any suggestions for what she might do, or have done to her, I'm happy to listen.

Cartoon Crushes June Special Edition

Today Jessica takes an adventurous stroll down one of the seedier alleys of Toontown's 'Little Tokyo' district, sometimes called 'anime village' by those on the outside. This image took more work than usual for me, thanks to the contrasting detail levels and coloring styles.

(green dude is an actual character, BTW)

50 Cartoon Crushes - Jessica Rabbit

(from: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", 1988)

Crush Class:C (childhood)

Inspired by the actresses & racier cartoons from the 1940s such as "Red Hot Riding Hood", Jessica, with her extreme hourglass figure, was pretty much the late eighties' definition of sex incarnate.

"Roger dear, please don't jostle around so much."

"Holly & Doug's First Date" - cover

Starting out the second of our concurrently-running comics. Hopefully everyone's inner desires don't get out of hand.

I'm working on the first page of "Naked Never". Not sure if that will be finished before the end of the month, but we shall see.

50 Cartoon Crushes: Fifi La Fume ("Tiny Toon Adventures", 1990)

Crush Class:A (adult)

One of a very few decent things to come from the "classic characters, but now they're kids/teens/babies!" trend born of the '80s, Fifi was the younger counterpart based on amorous French HR-nightmare skunk Pepe Le Pew, adding a somewhat different dynamic that came from being feminine, curvy, & purple with the voice of Kath Soucie.

June Cartoon Crush special preview

Forgot to jump in early with this one, but this month's color special pick will be the curvaceous Jessica, from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". As usual, if you have any suggestions for what she might do or have done to her, feel free to post in this thread.

50 Cartoon Crushes: Princess Daphne ("Dragon's Lair", 1983)

Crush Class: C (childhood)

While I personally preferred Kimberly from 'Space Ace', The prior Bluth-Studio-animated Princess-in-distress Daphne was no slouch, looking and acting like something from a Penthouse magazine cover and the first apparent example of animated pointy nipples I had ever noticed.

"Stellar Voyages: The Naked Never" - Cover

We preview the new entry in the "Stellar Voyages" franchise with a new poster-style cover. This comic will probably progress at a slower pace than the Holly & Doug sister comic , as like the first Stellar Voyages comic, I plan to use rendered CG for ships, sets, and some other elements, and I have models that still need building.

More high-res and WIP page files for y'all. Hope you enjoy, and thanks!

UPDATE: Problem file in the archive is fixed. Apparently it was an IFF ILBM file given a .JPG extension.

50 Cartoon Crushes - Steelheart ("Silverhawks", 1986)

Crush Class: C (childhood)

Coming from the trilogy of Rankin-Bass "something-animal" action cartoon shows. I doubt I really need to explain the appeal of a seemingly nude reflective metal-skinned woman with wings (not to mention that luxurious pan up her body in the opening titles of every episode), like a more family-friendly version of a Hajime Sorayama illustration. Stay shiny friends!

Cartoon Crushes May Special Edition

One of the most wonderfully messed-up episodes of the G.I.  Joe cartoon was "Skeletons in the Closet", where Lady Jaye inherits an old Scottish castle, also the ancient home of  Destro's family, the two ostensibly sharing ancestry. Lady Jaye wanders around the creepy castle in a flimsy nightgown and gets lowered into a well, home to some "old ones" monster worshiped by a cult of Destro's mask-wearing buds. The whole place ends up blown to hell and apparently this whole cluster-fudge...

50 Cartoon Crushes: Lady Jaye ("G.I. Joe", 1983/4)

Some people may prefer Scarlett, the Baroness, Zarana, or even Jinx, but to me the javelin-tossing, slightly flirty Ms. Jaye was best girl. Seems some show writers agreed, given the times she wound up in revealing or even missing clothing from time to time.

Strange Times

It's been a funky time of late. I'm still dealing with some minor tendonitis. I'm doing much better than I was when it was at its worst, thanks to a doctor-recommended tennis elbow strap, but still not 100 percent. I've been dealing with this since early March, so it's taking its time to heal, and I'm not letting it slow me down too much. A new delay cropped up however when, after serving for years, my primary computer chair snapped in half, so suddenly I'm hopping on Amazon to  buy a re...

50 Cartoon Crushes - Britanny, Jeanette, Eleanor

("Alvin and The Chipmunks", 1983)

Crush Class: C (childhood)

The Chipmunks and especially the Chipettes were a significant part of my early influences for visual style and character design, especially their sleeker visual updates from "The Chipmunk Adventure" 1987 feature film, which thanks to fortuitous production timing employed laid-off Disney animators including Glen Keane and Dan Haskett after the poor box office performance of "The Black Cauldron".

"The Continuing Misadventures of Jane Cottontail" page 11

Looks like Jane and Fluffy just might just be sticking together as we conclude this chapter. Coming up next will be split between two different comic stories, "Stellar Voyages: The Naked Never" and "First Date" with Holly and Doug. Exactly how the time will be divided up is uncertain at the moment, as I haven't split focus between three different comics (including Sabrina Online) before, and they all (will) have different demands. Wish me luck!

50 Cartoon Crushes - Betty Boop (Fleischer Studios, 1930)

Crush Class:A (adult)

One of the first animated cartoon sex symbols, Toned down in later years due to censorship from the Hays office, then living on forever as a merchandising icon. I gained my true appreciation for Betty after becoming an animation student & enthusiast, learning of the fun and sometimes edgy cartoons from the 1930s

50 Cartoon Crushes: Demona (&Angela) - ("Gargoyles", 1994)

Crush Class:A (adult)

The show that made people say "This was a DISNEY cartoon?", inspired largely by the success of Warner's Batman animated series, and a rare early example of serialized storytelling in children's TV.  Demona was an impressive character from a writing standpoint, voiced by Marina Sirtis. (there were a TON of Star Trek cast members doing voice work in that show)

50 Cartoon Crushes - April O'Neil

("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", 1987)

Crush Class: C (childhood)

"Don't worry, I'll have you outta this in no time!"

There have been several different incarnations of April over the years, and the cartoon version wasn't the first one, but there's something particularly appealing (geddit?) about that banana yellow jumpsuit, and there's more than a couple folks out there who wouldn't mind seeing her... peeled.

50 Cartoon Crushes: Ariel ("The Little Mermaid", 1989)

Crush Class: C (Childhood ... borderline)

Disney princesses are a very common animated cartoon crush for a lot of people, but Ariel stands out just a little bit by virtue of wearing the least amount of clothing for the longest amount of screen time.
