November Q&A — Part Two

  • There will be advantages to corruption, that much is clear, but will the contrary be true too? Will we gain something by stalling the mark other than to curb the killing of 'innocents' (or not lose yourself in the process, perhaps, is the reward)?

I don't want to reveal much about the Corruption run at this point because it's finally starting in this Book — Book One was a build-up where things revealed themselves slowly — but now, I can get dirty.

I will s...

Lock the Door — Lance & Rafael (Mature)

Humming lips graze upon your throat.

You close your eyes, teeth sinking into your bottom lip to keep a whimper from falling out. But something must have slipped because the lips upturned in a smug smile.

The man of a million smiles had to pick now to try a new one.

The lips trail butterfly kisses along your jaw, at the skin beneath your ear, to suckle gently at the lobe. The whimper falls, unrestrained, as you arch against him, but he lets you go with a hummed chuck...

Apologies, I forgot to write a report last week.

But, as they like to say, better late than never— a fact that Alessa would not agree to, so I'm lucky she's fictional, and I need not suffer her disapproval.

I'm very relieved to have finished the code for Chapter Two — even if I've already been made aware of some small errors and bugs. I'll fix them once I'm done with the first draft! As well as the typos and grammatical errors. Right now, I'm sorry, but I can't look at the cod...

November Q&A — Part One

  • The first time the ROs have killed someone. Or if they have not done so, the first time they witnessed death?

The first time Hadrian killed, he was seventeen summers, and he had just gotten out of his first-ever boat ride. His legs were unsteady, the knees shaky, and his stomach had an unpleasant weight to it — the kind that threatened to come up at any moment.

His brothers in faith were busy leading the horses from the devilish ship or surv...

A little inspiration

Hello!

So, I was hunkering down yesterday to write this month's Bonus Content stories when... I didn't quite know what to put into my metaphorical paper. I have a few ideas, but honestly, they didn't inspire me too much, so instead of forcing myself to write them, I continue to work on Chapter 3.

That's why I'm coming here for your help. Would you mind doing a Q&A? Even if you don't have a question you want to ask, you can give me an idea for a short story for the ROs th...

"You remind me of her," Hadrian admits.

"So, you've mentioned," Salina says, unceremoniously grabbing your hand and pulling it to her.

"Ah!" you hiss when she spreads your pointer and thumb apart, making the cut open.

She gives you an unimpressed look. "You go around fighting at all hours of the day, and this is what makes you ...

Friday, at last!!

This week was divided between tidying up the end of Chapter Two and continuing to work on the first draft of Chapter Three. Regarding Chapter Two, I need to add the five different Hubris Call descriptions to the stat pages. And, of course, add the choice to ask Mist about his true name.

I'll update the complete Chapter Two early next week. ❤️

I also had an idea. What do you think of me adding a 'Journal' entry to the stat pages so that you can click ...

Gender Variants

Someone made a comment in one of my posts on Tumblr. It said that, in the mature scenarios, it was very distracting and immersion-breaking to read the parts when Romanus is male and female one after the other.

I'll admit, I never thought about that! Thank you to that poster for bringing it to my attention. My question is: do you all feel the same? I can post two versions of the scenario if people would prefer.

Edit: Alright! Thank you to all who voted. The posts will stay the same...

Misty Musings

So, just wanted to air out some of my thoughts. I know some of you were most interested in the option to ask Mist about Alessa, but the more I stare at the text... the more I'm tired of seeing Tarek repeat: "I don't know."

I think it's clear, from the options available, that the lord of the underworld knows intimately what happens in Tarragona — but his details and interest go down the more the topic strays from the city. He knows a good deal about the Theers' ascension and the Red Gu...

Chapter Two is completely finished!

All the code is done, and all the options and paths are filled. There are no more restrictions and blocked pathways. Thank you so much for your incredible patience these last two weeks while I sorted all the code and filled in some unexpected choices.

Without further delays, here is the link!

Gilded Chains — Alain & Ysabella (Mature)

His fingers sprawl on your lower back, lazily guiding you to move just as he wants to. You mindlessly follow, long having absconded thought or will, chasing the bliss that he's offering you both, drowning in a heat that sears through your very bones.

"Alain," you moan, your hands gripping his brown locks as your lips fervently kiss the lanes of his forehead and temples. They're damp with sweat, but you savor the tang of saltiness when it hits your tongue.

So very late!!

I apologize for not posting on Friday or Saturday! I spent so much time working on the Rose that when I finished the sessions, I didn't have any mental energy left.

I'm so glad I sent the updated game link to a couple of people before posting it here because I forgot to add a crucial string of choices/ flavor text for one of the possible paths. I developed this path later after I had finished the chapter — before, it was supposed to be a shorter one, but then I th...

Water – The Pirate King & Neia

Note: These are deep in the romances. They’re in love with you by now, body and soul.

The shock leaves you breathless.

Water splits with the ease of a steel wall, and your body breaks as it sinks into its freezing depths. And they are freezing. Cold streaks through your every nerve like lightning, immobilizing what little muscles survived the crash.

You open your mouth as a reflex, and water greedier than a fat merchant rushes through your lips, seeking t...

And are you to find yourself in deeper waters than you expected — if this deal brings you hardship — I will vow to help you out of it. Or, at least, to tip the scale back in your favor."

Finished Coding Chapter Two!!!!!

Whoof! That was a hell of a last stretch! I think I said before that this rewrite added around 30k new words. Well, I counted wrong! It's close to 55k! I knew the document looked way too long for just 30k. 😄 In any case, I loved to go over everything. There's a particular scene I really, really liked when I read it the second time. I wonder if you'll think the same.

I adore how the chapter t...

You listened at the door to the stables as Captain Warren spoke with one of her men. What was his name... Cedric? Aldric? Whatever it was, he was showing doubts about the order for Warren to leave her post at the gate and move to the Harbor, but Warren defended Lorn's decision.

They even mentioned the Red Guard! "Not all," you say, pushing forward with your elbows on the chair, your voice excited. "I listened to Captain Warren defend Lorn in the guard...

Coding has begun! And more than that, it has developed.

I had a half week to work on the Rose as opposed to five days because of that pesky flu that completely overstayed its welcome. But, from Wednesday forward, I was applying an immeasurable amount of % into the game file. What fun!

But seriously, it's good to go over what I wrote as I code it, especially when I wrote it without a first draft — what I'm coding is, in essence, the first draft, and boy, some pas...

"He was sent here as a punishment?" you ask, voice laced with surprise. "Isn't Tarragona one of the most prosperous harbors on this side of the Peninsula?"

"You've hit it right on the nose," Mist says. "Its port is its greatest asset. But, around fifteen years ago, when Rowan — no longer a bare-faced youth at that point — arrived in Tarragona, it was barely a shaky dock. King Jaime sent him here as a punishment; to get Rowan as far away from the prince-in-training as he could, but h...

Finished Writing Chapter 2!!!

With the last line of the rewrite added, so I reached the definite end of chapter 2. You can ask Mist whatever question, boon, or gold you desire in exchange for a couple of interesting items you may carry with you.

Altogether, I ended up adding 33k extra words. I'm so glad I took the time to expand on what I had written in the first draft; this is a much better version. I had so much fun with some of the paths. I can't wait for you guys to explore them!!!

Wind — Alain & Ysabella

Wind

Rushes past your ears, hollering in a screeching yell that makes your eyes sting and your cheeks wobble. You're slumped over the saddle, holding onto the reins with all the strength left in your body.

Your side screams in agony with every gallop, but you grit your teeth and spur the horse to go even faster.

The castle is just around the corner.

SO CLOSE!

Just as I had predicted, I've been having way too much fun with Mist and the unraveling of some small mysteries, that, of course, some of the interactions have grown much more than I had anticipated. The Devil's Guardian part, for example, turned out to be 3.6k words long, and the Theers were just a little over 3.1k. There are smaller ones, but there's one left that I think will reach the 4k words.

This is all to say that I've written 6 out of 8 ch...

Fire — Hadrian & Alessa

Fire.

Everything feels slow. Even pain. You feel it far away, but you know it's coming — like the slow start of a summer day, it crawls on the dawn of your consciousness. But it comes.

There's movement everywhere, heat and dust, but the only noise you hear, despite all this chaos, is breath.

Your own.

A pained inhale.

A muffled exhale.

Darkness invades the outer edges of your vision, the black creeping closer to the center. Fire burns from all sides, red ...

3K words today!

I just reached the end of my first full Monday writing session, and I wrote just a little over 3.3k words!!!

Nero, my dog, had an appointment at the vet in the afternoon, which cut some time because otherwise, I think I could have made it to 4k. The words were just... flowing. I don't have a first draft for this part, so it's all straight from my brain, and it's messy and a bit convoluted, and ...

Rising Steam – Hadrian & Alessa (Mature)

His shirt has a stain on it.

Hadrian looks down at it with an inconsolable expression. How did it happen? It’s impossible; when it was dry, he folded it and stored it safely in his bag. It couldn't have stained itself; fabric doesn't have bodily functions.

… right?

Hadrian's brows furrow, and now he looks at the shirt with different eyes. It couldn't move itself... could it? But what other explanation was there?

"What has you moping about?" Alessa'...

One of my weaknesses as a writer is my lack of imagination (and overall references) when it comes to clothing styles and jewelry. Imagining how armor fits a body, how a gown flows from behind a woman, or the perfect color scheme to the large rings adorning a nobleman's fingers is... hard for me to do.

What is also hard for me is to imagine weapons. Not the basic structure, of course, but how one might adorn it. Smithing is a craft, after all, and while I purposely gave Romanus humble we...

As most of you probably know, I've updated the Alpha link with most of Chapter Two — there's a last set of scenes missing right at the end of the chapter that I want to rework a little. The new idea I had for those scenes is actually making me more excited to share them than the whole chapter before. 😄

I will start to re-write those final scenes tomorrow! Since Tuesday, when I updated, I've been resting a bit from...
