Commission Wlad (Sketch + Rough Color)

This commission's goal is to make it looks like an SSR gacha character art, by referencing it from a picture I've done before.

For me, this kind of illustration is super fun to draw! I like drawing dynamic action poses and this kind of platform-background thingy is also really fun~

In this picture, I tried to find a way to paint it faster. But I failed miserably XP

My approach is I tried to minimize the complexity of shading and color, and try to finalize the picture using various blending modes instead. But it still took so long.

Commission Choco Video Process

I made it hard for myself this time lol. I'm usually able to skip sketching a finer outline and go straight to rendering. But this picture has two people interacting closely together, so it's a lot harder than usual. I should've done a line sketch before rendering, it will save me a lot of time 😂

Aside from that, I think this picture overall isn't so challenging. I should've finished it sooner than this. But hey, at least I know not to skip lineart on a difficult pose from now on XD<...

Commission Choco (Rough color)

I have a thing for framing like #2, so I add it there just in case the customer will like it too XD

The midday overhead sunlight is really good lighting for a casual scene like this. 

Man, I miss going outside 😢 (But not really, it's hot. What I miss is going outside to some nice restaurant 🤤)

The customer of this commission gave me a lot of freedom on the composition, so I made 3 versions for them to pick from.

The customer wants the overall feeling of this picture to be relaxing and wholesome. I think from all these three sketches, the second and third capture the feeling the best. 

The second is more focused on the relaxing feeling with one character sleeping on the other character's shoulder.

During the rendering process, my layer management is so messy that it makes me confused which layers to show or hide for each versions XP

Another hard part is the anatomy around the waist-crotch area. I'm still unsure how does it work, so ...

I always love dark lighting with rim light like this~ 🥰 And glowing eyes in the dark always a good way to give an ominous feeling.

Usually, I'll draw only the outline and don't add grayscale to the sketch. But I accidentally did grayscale this time, so I have to use Overlay and Multiply to add color in. The only thing left is to clean this up and finalize the color!

In this commission, the tricky part is the placement for those men.  I have to be careful not to make them look too close, and I have to be careful about the perspective of their **** as well, especially the one pointing at the camera. Foreshortening is always my nemesis 😂

And I think during the rendering process, I have to make sure these men's perspective match the main girl too.

It's done!! In the end, I just add a normal belt to her hat. At least it's something and not grabbing too much attention XD

In the second picture, I imagine her using that pipe as a wand to cast magic. And also when she gets serious, she will wear that plague doctor mask and maybe do something like releasing a big cloud of gas that covers a large area.

Poison Witch WIP

A character design with the base idea being "Poison Witch". Then I relate this idea to poisonous gas and plague doctor. So it becomes a mix of witch/wizard + poisonous gas + plague doctor in this sketch designs XD

I might pick the middle one because I don't really like the corset's shape of the left design. And I don't like the white frills of the right design, because it separates body and skirt way too much for me.

I kinda want to add some decoration on her...
