Day 15 -- candle wax

Simple shrines known as 'remembrance trees' could be found nearby villages throughout Stag's Run, recognizable by a coating of wax on their branches.

Day 14 -- harvest

Every year as the fall harvest drew near, wispapple orchards across Stag's Run became a beacon for hungry travelers and beasts of burden alike.

Day 13 -- cloven hooves

A lesser-known but no less dangerous cryptid, the Manydeer of Indiana was thought to be responsible for several dozen trampled animals found in wooded areas across the southern portion of the state.

Cryptozoologists report the deer is easy to deter with a blinking flashlight or a shaken can full of pennies.

Day 12 -- warm knit

Not everyone grew heavier fur coats during the colder months; some had to be content burying themselves in layers to keep warm for a third of the year.

Day 11 -- crunch

It was a simple and accepted fact known to farmers in the Fallows: some of your produce will be destroyed by drakes and there's nothing you can do about it.

Day 10 -- hearth

For the wandering elemental mage, a cozy fireplace was never far away.

Day 9 -- night beast

Regular merfolk were dangerous enough, but their nocturnal counterparts were downright malevolent; there was a reason sailors in the Alabaster Gulf had a superstition not to look over the side of a ship at night.

Day 8 -- dust

Though a valuable magical reagent, pixie dust was highly volatile and hazardous to collect.

Sorry about the long video this time. This was a project that I kinda picked at whenever I had a spare minute over the course of weeks and I think that affected the length of the timelapse :')

Day 7 -- festive brew

During colder seasons, dauric spiced tea was favored by many in Stag's Run... some more than others.

Day 5 -- dark soil

Harvesting mud from arcane bogs was usually a pretty safe job, but it did involve the occasional awkward run-in with a dirt imp.

Day 4 -- feathers

The somewhat macabre tradition of leaving wings dangling from eaves and branches on one's property around harvest time is meant to draw favor from autumnal sprites that inhabit the Fallows, as it is said they tend to be easily entertained.

Day 3 -- morning fog

Folksy bedtime stories abound to explain the abundance of fog seen in the Fallows during fall; everything from fairies steaming their laundry to frogs cooking stew. The reality is... less charming.

Day 6 -- hunger

The ghost the haunts the coastline of the  Alabaster Gulf is known to locals as the starving captain, said to roam  in search of his traitorous crew that marooned him centuries prior.

Some  say he's nothing more than a convenient explanation for the bodies that  occasionally turn up in the jungle having been run through with a  jagged blade. Bandits are everywhere in these parts, after all.

Day 2 -- spice

Spices grown on giant trees took a bit of extra elbow grease to grind into an edible form, but the added intensity of flavor was a hallmark of dauric cooking known 'round the world.

Day 1 -- bare branches

Though human travelers found the snagging branches of the Grasping Wood somewhat of a nuisance as scarves, hats and loose hair were often targets of the mischievous trees, smaller denizens found the forest much more treacherous.

Drawlloween 2022!

I've been doing some form of Halloween-themed October drawing challenge every year since 2014 and now am at the point where I've done many of the most common prompts (pumpkin, cat, ghost, etc.) several times over. I was in the middle of scouting lists on google for this year's Drawlloween when I realized hey, don't a lot of artists just... make their own list? So that's what this is.

Some cozy clothing concept sketches for my homebrew world. Most thylans live in the tundra so I had fun researching styles of clothing from cultures that live in these parts of the world IRL.

Just wanted to pop in and thank y'all for bearing with me through what's turned out to be a pretty sparse month, content-wise. There's a new cat in the house and most of my spare brain juice has been diverted to making sure he doesn't eat string or get stuck behind the furniture; did manage to sketch a little doodle of the fella, though. He's pretty stinkin cute.

Pretty simple one this time, done for last year's Halloween art challenge. I had to draw 31 pictures based on spooky prompts and didn't have a lot of time to dedicate to each one, so I stuck with flat colors and simple backgrounds for the most part.
