Violet Evergarden: Movie #2 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Oh...oh this movie was the TRUE ending of the series. 

I think I went through every emotion possible watching this two-and-a-half-hour film. The length is SO worth it and I was greedy and still wanted more by the ending. 

The framing device, the animation, the soundtrack, the callbacks, the tension and emotional power of this film (YURIS @__@)...it was a tour de force, for sure.

I went from dread, to sadness, to surprise, to elation, to straight-up confusion in a matter of 23 minutes...

For the record, I LOVED THIS EPISODE. It's my favorite of the series so far, and there is SO much to love with it: The action with Hak vs. the Fire Tribe, Yona going "full Mulan," Tae-Jun's anguish (that animation!), Soo-Won's lamenting (THAT ANIMATION), and a surprise thematic discussion of man vs. god...ending with the ol' priest finally popping in.

Not going to lie, y'all. These episodes, especially Episode 69, were hard to watch.

Seeing our team slowly rebuild itself is one thing, but seeing our sunshine boy, Sawamura, genuinely STRUGGLE with clearly trauma from the Inashiro match; alongside jealousy at Furuya's growth and seeming transition into the ace of the team, the lack of proper communication from our new-captain Miyuki, and everything under the watchful eyes of our new "assistant coach" Ochiai...

...it hurt. A LOT. ...

Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll - FULL LENGTH Movie Reaction!

If I were to describe this movie in too words, it would be: Sweet and Wholesome! 

I can't believe we got major BENEDICT focus through a lot of this film (I'm SO welcoming it, though), as we take a journey with these two found-family sisters and their reconnection, with the help of our two main blonde fashionistas! 

The animation, of course, is still top tier, but I loved after half a season of straight up soul-crushing heartache, we got a story of happiness rediscovered ...

After watching Mo Dao Zu Shi, the donghua, and starting on my journey with the novel, audio drama, and manhua adaptations...it seems only fitting that I also give the final adaptation a go: the live action version! 

Knowing what I know about MDZS, these first two episodes were SO MUCH FUN! I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of laughs, swooning, and endless comparisons in the weeks to come as I go through this series!

The series finale...and it's structured like a series finale, but at the same time, it doesn't quite FEEL final. I'm so glad that we have two movies left, because I'm not ready to move on from this animation, emotions, and from Violet's journey. 

All I can say is I'm glad Violet and Diethard had the moments they did in this, and Benedict...BENEDICT! Coming in clutch, with them high heels! ^^
