as i was painting the gouache version of the knight something in me head clicked into place i regards to laying down color. because i have always had a hard time with color its difficult for me to articulate what happened in my head.

the idea i have for the process for this folio is to get the sketch mostly done digitally then print it out for pencil refinement, scan back in to put a simple color base. then print it back onto some large bristol board. polish up the shadows with copic markers and THEN paint over in oils

here's my method. i do most the linework in clipstudio then print it out on my biggest paper available at low opacity. i then refine the drawing with my pencils ( a 2H and HB) then scan it back in and add some simple colors. then i print it out again in full color and paint over with copic markers. finally i go over it all again with gouache.
my next experiment will be to print out the color version on canvas paper and paint in oils

i had another little face palm moment. i painted on these 4 for hours with seemingly little progress until i realized i was making things harder on myself again! i already had a good reface image from an old folio AND i can grab reference images from all over the net to help me choose the colors i need. i still have a bad habit of making things harder then they need to be
