since i am not going to get the folio done today i decided to practice with copics and inks

to help me relax i inked an image from an old abandoned folio. it was relaxing and i will keep going with the rest of the abandoned folio

well today i had a really hard time figuring out my shadows and highlights.  i am not sure if i am just being hyper critical of myself or not but i did not get much done on this today.  i took a break and worked on some traditional works that i will post next

ok that is the last couple censhi pics for this folio.  today i focused on the pile of commissions i have so this is all i got done with folio stuff

ok the first sexy time is done.  now i need to make the xray part and then i can go back to the model and finish that

well this was just going to be a quick study because i wanted an excuse to work with traditional mediums with out the stress of "gotta be publishable" but it ended up taking half the day....but i do like the inky look of it and later i will start coloring

there we go. almost finished  just need a bit more polish and punch up the shadows and highlights then i can do that x-ray bit.  after this is done i can finish her model 

Triceratreagation update

still need to work on that title.  with cover this one will be 29 pages. tomorrow i will crank out as many pages as i can and they should look about the same as the orca sketches i posted yesterday.  now as i make these pages i will see if i can add a few more so it is up to the same size as "bald space monkeys" because i feel like 40 pages is a good number

there we go!  i would have had more done but most my day was taken up with family matters and car fixing stuff.  i think this folio and the comic with the triceratops will have the best of both worlds in how i use both 3d and free hand illustration.  after i get the base pose down i exaggerate the perspective and even change parts of the pose to push the the expression but maintain the form

WHEW! got em done! with some time to spare. on to the next folio 

kota allye update

half the folio is about done,  these just needs some last flourishes.  and i am still working on the last 4.  i want to get these done quickly so i can get stuck into the orca folio and triceratops comic, and even finish the peak wulf comic now that i found a much easier way to color flats

after crisping up the line work i added the flats....boy this "all layers" button on the paint bucket tool. makes adding in the flat colors SO much easier

line work done.  i think i have found a SUPER fast ways to fill in flat colors but i will wait until tomorrow to give it a test....if it works the way the youtube vids have shown then i will feel inspired to gets back to the peak wulf comic and finish it

sketch studies of a master

earlier today i was working on a character study for "demon quest 2" but it just looks off,  i was not using 3d figures for the base even though i have them because i want to push my skills more.  also it was taking way too long to draw.

so i grabbed some images from one of my favorite artists, Mark Schultz and tried out a study routine i saw another youtube artist suggest.
