well this is embarrassing i completely forgot about this folio and just stumbled into it.

ok i have a bit of a story behind working on this again.....i was doing a study in oil paint, just a skull, the same kind i did in gouache and inks, and i felt i wanted to do another study in oils from this folio.  so i opened up the files to see if i had a good line work and i thought "wait these are almost done.."  and yeah i think a whole bunch of you are saying "yeah we KNOW that" 

so you can all smack me upside the head as i will finish this folio along side "big wuf...

without using 3d bases im going to have to come up with a good work flow to make sure i can always draw the character right.  probably a set amount of rotations and poses to always draw the character in

the further in i get the less gestures i need to fix. a lot of the details need to be re drawn because they fight the perspective or proportions but the gesture is fine

base colors with copic marker.  the marker pigment does "sit on top" rather then stain the canvas but the alcohol should of dissolved the last of any grease left behind

getting back into bald space monkey with some character designs ....i have a LOT of designs to start cranking out

some colors like yellows and browns, really mix well on the board but blues tend to need a bit more effort

layering on the gouache now. and playing around a bit with "blending like oil" because regular gouache can be reactivated with a bit of water

so i had to change inks from the acrylic to a bottle that a friend gave me, though i do not remember what type it was, but it did cut through the oil on the canvas.  i did try to use an alcohol wash on the kitty censhi but as you can see it moved the pencil around so no way i do that for the rest.

now comes the part im looking forward to the most.  the gouache part

i learned a very important lesson today...rub these canvases with alcohol as there is often a grease you NEED to get rid of or your paint will Bead up.

back to finishing this set of commissions.  a bunch of line work needs to be cleaned up

now for ink lines i will be more refined with this ink work  because i will be using comic markers that dont cover up mistakes

yes! the pencils are done. next is the inks.  censhi will be a mix of gouache and copic marker because the "vermillion" marker is the exact shade of red i want censhi to be
