Photoset - Black and White Nudes

I recently had my first shoot with the fabulous Georgia, and it was one I had been looking forward to for quite some time. Back in June 2022, a model friend of Georgia's who I had shot with recommended me to her, but at that time Georgia could only shoot on weekends, and we really struggled to find one where we were both free. However, Georgia is now modelling full time, and our shoot finally happened last wee...

Photoset - Black & White Nudes on Location

On the run up to my most recent shoot with the fabulous Megan, I spent a fair amount of time driving around scouting for locations. Most of them were places I had been to before, but not for several years, and I wanted to check that they would all still be suitable for a shoot.

One such place is a working airfield, which also has two abandoned runways that are now areas that are open to the public for walking, skating, etc. As I was walking to these tarmac areas I spotted this small are...

Bonus Photos

I know some of you are fans of the stunning Tilly and have asked me to post some more images. These are the last two sets from a shoot I did with her a while back.

Some photographers will do a shoot and then send 20-30 edits a few weeks later. I tend to drip feed the sets, so that the models I shoot with get their edits over time. Sometimes these means that a set we have shot might get forgotten about for a while, but I'll then stumble across it when I'm doing some housekeeping with my ...

Photoset - Black and White in the Studio (Part 1)

I recently had the absolute pleasure of my first shoot with the stunning Josie. She was only here for a few hours, but in that time we managed to produce a lot of beautiful images of her, both in black and white and also with a red paper roll backdrop. Josie is a complete natural in front of the camera, and I am very much hoping for many more shoots in the future.

This is just part 1 of the images we made on that day. There will be many more to come!

(And I have included a diagram...

Photoset - Nobu Hotel Photoshoot

As I mentioned at the end of last month, I recently had the privilege of shooting with the stunning Leona, who was down in London from Manchester for a few days and had booked a room in the Nobu Hotel, Shoreditch. The room was a little on the small side, but had fabulous floor to ceiling windows, and so the natural light was lovely.

I just can't help but edit loads of images from some of the shoots I do, it's my toxic trait as a photographer lol, so there will be more of these posted at...

Some Lighting Diagrams

I prepared these some time ago, using a package called Set.A.Light 3D. I still have quite an old version of it, courtesy of a friend, so I'm not sure how many new features are in the latest version. It's an ok package, as it can be used to trial lighting set ups prior to a shoot. However, where I find it lacking is you cannot change the size of modifiers, and there is only a limited number to choose from. I'll explain more below.

The first image is my standard set up I use for a lot of ...

Photoset: "Mixtape"

As promised last month, here is the full set of images from the project I have titled "Mixtape", featuring the stunning Sian. You can read my explanation about the idea here. I am considering releasing a few images from this set as prints, I just need to work out the logistics as I'd like to include something extra as a limited edition kind of thing.

Hot Off The Press

I had my first shoot with Leona last week. She was down in London and had booked a hotel room for a couple of nights, and as I was due to be shooting in London with another of their models on that day, her agency asked if I would like to shoot with Leona as well. I had never shot in a hotel room before so jumped at the opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone again. We did a set with flash, but the majority of the sets we worked on were with the available light - it was a fairly smal...

Photoset - Queen of Hearts

Back in June I had my first shoot with the fabulous Tegan. I had been looking forward to this one for quite some time - Tegan is a very talented artist and as such has a very creative mind, which is like gold dust to me. I love coming up with ideas and concepts, even if sometimes I find it very difficult, so it takes the pressure off me a little if a model has ideas too.

However, for our first shoot together we had decided to keep it simple and focus mainly on my black and white style, ...

Photoshoot - Paparazzi with Tayla

I'm back from holiday and getting back into the groove of shooting and editing now. Apologies for the break being longer than I had suggested it would be, I needed a bit more of a break from social media than I had anticipated.

This is a set I shot with Tayla on Saturday. We hadn't done a shoot for a few months as she is working all hours, and when came over we didn't really have much of a plan at all. She wanted something a bit more commercial for her portfolio as a dancer, so I set up...

Photoset - Rural Double Denim

I posted recently to say that Meg had come down to mine for two days of shooting. I had hoped to do a lot more location work with her but the weather gods were not smiling on us for much of those two days. However, on the first afternoon she was here the forecast suggested we had a two-hour window between showers, so we journeyed out to a location that I have used a few times - there is a pedestrian tunnel underneath a dual carriageway, and a small wooded area. And in the five times I have sh...

Photoset - Red Light

A while back I had my first shoot with the stunning Suzi. When models arrive at my place for a shoot we invariably sit and chat for a while - it breaks the ice, settles any nerves and gives the model a chance to relax after their journey. I am told, and I firmly believe myself too, that it is one of the most important aspects of a shoot with me. And there have been times where this "sit and chat" has lasted more than an hour!

We also sit at my PC and look through PDFs I have made ...

Photoset - Black and white portraits with Tayla

Last time Tayla came to shoot, we didn't have much of a plan. But for shoots with a models who I know as well as I know Tayla, this is rarely something that bothers me. What I did know was that I wanted to do more portraits with her in black and white, but with a softer lighting set up that I normally use for my b&w work. For this, I would normally use my octabox on a boom, so it is placed above and slightly in front of the model, slightly to camera left (less by design and more by necess...

Teaser - Mixtape

A little insight into how my brain works, and doesn't work...

Back at the end of February, I was planning a shoot with Sian, a model I had worked with several times last year but who had then been out of the country for six months working. I had a couple of ideas that I really wanted to do with her, and those sets have already been posted on here - sets that would very much make a feature of the tan lines she had acquired over in the Caribbean. But I was struggling to come up with a con...

Studio Shoot BTS Timelapse Video

The stunning Meg Farmer recently journeyed down to my place for two days of shooting. I had planned for two days of outdoor location shooting, but unfortunately the weather had different ideas. We managed a couple of hours in a local field and wooded area before the rain started and then headed indoors.

During our chats I mentioned Rankin and Meg wasn't aware of his work, which gave me an excuse to get out some of my books. Meg immediately latched onto his 2023-07-14 13:31:46 +0000 UTC View Post

Photoset - Golden Girl

I think I have mentioned in a previous post that Sian had been abroad in the Caribbean for a few months and was worried about her tan lines and how they might ruin our images. I assured her that most of my ideas for our first shoot following her return actually involved her tan line and that I wanted to make them a feature!

The first set that we shot was the set with the ripped jeans, that I posted a while back. But I was also very keen to shoot a set on my red paper roll backdrop, and ...

Photoset - Black and White Sheer

Yesterday Megan recently posted one of these images on her Instagram, stating in the caption that it was a crime that she had not posted it until now. I then realised that I had never posted them on here either! Another crime!

The first five images were taken using natural light. The room I use to shoot in looks out onto our little cul-de-sac, which means I have to keep the curtains closed for my shoots. However, not long before this shoot with Meg I had purchased a large sheer wh...

Shibari Shoot Part 1

I recently had my first shoot with the fabulous Misty. Whilst we were planning the shoot, Misty asked if I would be interested in trying some shibari, and when I asked who would do the tying she said it is usually the photographer. This is something totally new to me, but she sent me a tutorial video on YouTube, and I practised in advance on a dressmaker's dummy.

This is actually the second set from that day, but the first I edited. The first set was in my usual black and white style, b...

Photoset - First Shoot with Sasha

I recently had my first shoot with the fabulous Sasha Taylor, a model I had wanted tom shoot with for quite some time, and I'm very happy to say that we are already talking about our next shoot. I covered a range of styles with Sasha, starting with my natural light black and white style, then moving into my studio space for more b&w and then some colour sets. Sasha had identified a set I had done some time ago with Sian that she really liked, and she asked if I could edit it with similar ...

Photoset - Red on Red

Anna was the first model I paid for a shoot, back in November 2018, and we have been shooting together ever since. I worked out quite early on that if I wanted to develop a portfolio which would attract models to collaborating with me on a TF basis, then I should pay a few models for their time. And I cannot recommend this strategy enough to any photographer just setting out on their journey. It's the fastest way to create a decent looking portfolio; you don't need to worry about not having a...

Natural Light Photoset with Tilly

I have had a few messages recently asking for more images of Tilly, and I was fortunate to have another shoot with her a few weeks back. Tilly has often said how much she likes my natural light, black and white images and I realised the day before the shoot that I had only ever created one small set of her in this style (it started raining just as we got started!). It's a style that really suits her, and I love the way her hair adds texture to the images.

Photoset - Window Light

As promised earlier this month, here is the first set of images I made with the stunning Sian at Burford Manor, Kent. We spent pretty much the whole day only using the natural daylight or the lights in the various rooms we shot in. This was very different to how I have been shooting for the past year or so, and it was really refreshing to wander around the house with a bagful of outfit items, looking for the best light.

It also gave me the ideal opportunity to really put my new Sigma Ar...

Photoset - Black and White Sheer

I recently had the pleasure of shooting with the stunning Carolin. As I do before all of my shoots, I sent Carolin a handful of pdfs: a montage of my b&w images; a montage of of colour images; and a pdf of inspiration images. Carolin identified two specific images that she loved -  a model wearing a sheer black top and tights - and so we took that as our starting point for this set, making sure to make it our own rather than just copy the images on my pdf.

Carolin is a fab mode...

Photoset - Black & White Implied

Prior to my last shoot with Tayla, she had asked if we could do some more black and white image and in reply I sent her an image of Lily-Rose Depp that had been featured on the front cover of I-D magazine (I have included it above). You will see one image that is similar to the inspiration image, but after that we just let things flow.

I've just this minute finished editing this set of the beautiful Katie Cooper, and I thought I would pop it straight onto my Patreon. I bought this top off Vinted some time ago and it was a few quid well spent, as it has been used for quite a few shoots, and there's plenty more life in it yet!

Photoset - Suntan and Blue Jeans

I realised as I uploaded a post earlier today that I had forgotten to upload the promised "Part 2" of the denim and suntan set I made with Sian. So here it is!

The tones are slightly different from the first set. I had finished a few of these and then realised that whilst I was happy with the blue tint on the bra Sian' wore in that first set, when it came to the topless images, I really didn't like that blue tint on her skin, so I had to head back into Photoshop to rectify that.

Sneak peak from a shoot with Sian
