[366 Days of Monsters ] Day 092-93/366 - Illusory Skeletons and Spinning Heads

The malicious illusionist Uncle Skeleton has no favorite minions. If it can cause pain, death, or fear, he's sold. But there are a few minions that are decidedly "his own" that plague his designs.

Illusory Skeleton

Sometimes referred to as his "children" the illusory skeletons look and act like normal skeletons—that is until an adventurer touches one revealing it for what it truly is. From there, the skeleton cackles maliciously and attacks with its innate eld...

[366 Days of Monsters] Day 91/366 - Swarm of Droans

The dreadful insects known as droan look like fist-sized silver beetles with blood red eyes. They are one of many side effects of the Transmuter Wars and the Hand of the Three. Mutated from ordinary locusts, these voracious, carnivorous creatures possess a droning sound which has the ability to confuse and disorient those who hear the sound. Once a target falls unconscious from the droning sound, the swarm of droan covers the creature and starts to devour it while it is still alive.

Drown | New 11th-Level Adventure for Fifth Edition

An often overlooked feature of vampires is their ability to exist in environments that do not require air. As such, some crafty vampires move their lairs to underwater caverns. These remote locations offer vampires several advantages such as a lack of air for creatures who'd hunt it and an overall absence of sunlight. Because of the vampire's weakness against running water, these submerged lairs must be at the bottom of dismal swamps or murky lakes.

[366 Days of Monsters] Day 090/366 - Bugbear Kagan

Kagans are to Garrish bugbears as knights are to Pressonian nobles. Each representing one of the six clans of Loqosa, these towering goblinoids swear their lives to the Gray Banner and offer their name to the hobgoblin queen, Glonkad the Unkillable. If Glonkad accepts the gift of their name, she grants them a Life Quest. Typically, a Life Quest involves fulfilling a series of dangerous missions or causing havoc in the name of the Gray Banner. Until the Life Quest is completed, the bugbear kag...

Hey hey!

It's time for another quick Call for Suggestions. Just like before, anyone can make a suggestion. However, Electrum, Gold, and Platinum will get first dibs. Also, the two folks who got suggestions last time will get skipped over (shield guardian and fire giant/hermit/white dragon).

Your suggestion must include the following details (otherwise, I might skip):

[366 Days of Monsters] Day 089/366 - Ice Geist

When a group of travelers becomes stranded on a dangerous, snowy pass with no way to escape, sometimes they turn to murder then cannibalism. These evil deeds taint the terrain around it and the souls of the unfortunate become a single powerful, undead entity: an ice geist.

An ice geist appears as a huge, black cloud with screaming humanoid faces boiling to its surface. Supernatural blue light flashes through it like lightning. As in its last moments, the geist still hungers for bloodshe...

The Blind Cavern | New 10th-Level Adventure for Fifth Edition

The White Dragon's Lair

While they're not the smartest of the dragons, white dragons are certainly some of the most dangerous. And the adult white dragon Skullcollector is no exception. Born with a proper name, Skullcollector gained its vile nickname from its dreadful hobby: collecting skulls. Currently, Skullcollector is holed up in the old Blind Cavern near the base of The Knife, one of the tallest and most dangerous mountains in the tail (northeast...

[366 Days of Monsters ] Day 088/366 - Bloodroot Tree

Infesting the thick, black forests of the Xenem Dynasty and parts of Aegreya, the bloodroot trees are vampiric plants that act as a natural defense to the vampire citadels which they surround. The first trees were created by Xenem Shi's daughter, Ming and planted in his garden. Although thankful for the gift, Xenem saw them as a perversion of necromancy, what he considers a "delicate and beautiful" art. Thus, the trees were relegated to the grounds beyond Baolei.

Update on Physical Books

Hey all,

Just the latest update on monthly books for everyone.

Like many of you, I'm sure, I'm in self-quarantine with my family until the curve gets flattened a bit more.

Just before entering quarantine, I had all of Book #4 packed and ready to go (they're literally right by my feet as I type).

And as you've seen from yesterday, Book #5 is now ready.

However, there are some complications in shipping both of these books.

Who created these horrible things? Does it matter? Look out! Here comes one now!

Undead Nature. The corpse ball does not require food, air, drink, or sleep.

BroadSword #5 - April 2020

Here it is! There's still a couple boo-boos that we're fixing for the print versions, but overall this is the final draft.

Once I get the final final draft, I'll replace this here.

Enjoy!

BroadSword #5 out today

Hey all,

I hope everyone's having a great morning! I had a question about this early this morning in my inbox, so I'm letting you all know what's going on.

BroadSword #5 will be out at some point today. There one tiny little edit that needs to be made and then it's good to go.

Thanks for being patient! It's going to be awesome!

[Call for Suggestions] NPC Idea

Hey all,

I'm making a zany new adventure based on a popular '80s movie which ALSO happens to be a spin-off of Hand of the Eight Chapter 4 (the one in Orbea).

However, I need an idea for a zany NPC to assist the characters and act as a guide.

Give me your ideas. Best idea gets used and credited. Bonus if it's actually a character that you play.

You don't have to go into too much detail. Preferably keep it around 140-characters—if it won't fit into a Twitter feed, you'...

Quiet Again Today

Hey all!

Just letting you know that I'm working on a yuge adventure that should be out later this week. It's super top secret, but it's *awesome*—possibly the largest adventure I've created yet with tons of action, battles, dragons, and of course, dungeons.

Anyways, keep your eyes open for that.

I'll try to crank out a couple monsters here and there (yes, I'm dreadfully behind on 366) as well as a mini-adventure in the mea...

[Call for Suggestions] The Top Secret - 8 x 8 Project

Hey all,

A few neato artists and I are working on a big project that's slated for release late next month (don't worry, I'm just PM on this so it won't be eating into my word count).

It involves a bunch of 8 x 8 dungeon tiles, each with two exits evenly spaced on each side of the tile. (Cool kids call 'em "geomorphs.")

What kind of stuff would you like to see on an 8x8 geomorph? If you aren't sure what a geomorph is, you might check out 2020-03-29 18:41:06 +0000 UTC View Post

Invisible stalkers are relentless killing machines summoned by dark conjurers and employed to hunt, then kill or capture their quarry. So long as the quarry remains on the same plane of existence, the stalker can track its target without fail. And as elementals, stalkers are notoriously difficult to kill, resistant to most forms of non-magical damage.

[366 Days of Monsters] Day 085/366 - Crystal Runner

A happy accident created by the Transmuters during the Battle of Aspaeth, crystal runners were specifically developed as war mounts during Aspaeth's conflicts with the danaavrakt of The Obsidian Plain. A crystal runner looks like a colorful, seven-foot tall flightless bird with a long, featherless neck and powerful legs. In place of feathers, the crystal runner has sharp, crystal-like shards that act as physical and psychic protection.

More call for suggestions! Monsters

Hey all,

I've had a little writer's block this week, not going to lie. So I'm behind on monsters.

Give me some monster ideas. Just one (looking at you Darion)!

I'll try to knock out as many as I can tomorrow—at least to catch up. And then I'll pull from the list as I go... until it gets down further than I want to scroll at least, haha

No need to be elaborate. Just give me a twitter-length concept (140 characters).
