People always warn me, "Dave, you'll get burned out." Of course, I've been writing an average of 17,000 words per day for nearly two years now. So I'm not afraid of burn out. Also, when I start getting tired of staring at a particular project, I don't stop writing, but instead switch to something that's a little "less cerebral."
Case in point: I took a break from the next TSH adventure to put together a simple room in the Neverending Dungeon.
It should be out later today.

So what have I been working on the last couple of days? Well, how about a massive globe-trotting adventure involving a mysterious lost city?
I can't give away too much, but this bad-ass 7th-level adventure will debut on Friday the 21st. Keep an eye out!

Hey all!
Hope you had a good Saturday. Today, I'm going to be working on the big Team Superhydra adventure for November, but I hope to get out a Neverending Dungeon today as well. Maybe a monster? Who knows!
As always, holler at me on Discord if you need something.

So a couple nights ago, the cartographer for Team Superhydra dropped not one... not two... not three or four... or even five... but SIX maps to our new adventure this month. LOL
The due date on this sucker is the 21st, so I've got some hustling to do. On the plus side, this adventure is going to be LIT as hell. However, some of the other projects I hoped to work on this weekend are getting shelved since this is priority number one.
Good news, though, as I do plan on releasing a ca...

I'm working on converting a 2nd edition adventure titled the Desert of Desolation. Within are some pretty nifty monsters that I just had to convert. And waste not want not—have fun with 'em!
Warning: this contains spoilers for my Saturday RPG group. If you're part of that—JOE—don't read this.

What are some types of NPCs that you feel are sorely missing from the Monster Manual? For example, I feel like there aren't enough variants of commoners like experts, etc. Also, the tiers for spellcasters are a bit weird in their general progression.
Let me know in the comments below.

Hey all! I've republished a few of my how-to articles recently and seem to have a pretty good response for it.
I was wondering, what sort of content would you like to see in these articles?
I've set up this poll below.

Occasionally, I get folks on Instagram and Facebook asking me how to create a monster for Fifth Edition. Of course, the DMG outlines how to do just that on pages 273 - 283. But for some that can be a little overwhelming. And there are lots of little rules that are easy to miss.
So, I thought I'd take the opportunity to go over how to create a monster for Fifth Edition. After all, I create, on average, probably 10-15 new monsters each week.
Here's a look into my monster de...

I spent the last hour or so collecting cool maps for the Attack of the Ice Vampires adventure. I'm not 100% sure all of these will make it into the finished product, but I'm pretty excited to see the adventure that I've got in my head come to life.
Thanks to Dyson Logos, JD Russell, and the folks at donjon for providing such cool maps.
More to come later.

Sometimes, you just need a totally gonzo name.
Above, you can see my rough outline for this crazy adventure I'm writing that's going to be like Curse of Strahd meets the movie Armageddon with a little The Thing tossed in for good measure.
Y'all ain't ready for this.

Welcome to the Neverending Dungeon! The adventure starts when characters wake in a dungeon with no recollection of how they got there. Each room of the dungeon is loaded with traps, monsters, puzzles, treasure, and more. As time goes on, I'll create more and more rooms, building out at least one room per week plus an additional room for every 10 patrons that follow my Patreon account.
You are free to play the dungeon as it lies, or you can take the individual puzzles, traps, and room la...

Hey all!
Today, I'm breaking ground finally on my big fat Vampire Stronghold adventure. Here's the image:

As always, thanks to the total bad-ass Dyson Logos for this crazy huge map. I know the bad guy will be the frost giant vampire lord (CR 21), which means this sucker is going to be high level. That's right—fourth tier!
But how high of a level?
Let me know below! I s...

Hey! I just discovered that Monday is holiday (yes, I'm slow), but that means I don't have day job on Monday. So instead of rushing and doing a shit job on Aberranterra for Thursday, I'm going to push it to Tuesday so I've got three whole days to work on it.
Of course, this means now I'll have to do something else for Thursday. Hmmm...

Just a sneak peek at a fun little room with the prompt "antimagic." I'm nearly done and will have it posted for tomorrow morning. Then, I'm likely to start working on getting all of Aberranterra together for Thursday.
Keen observers might note the number in the pit there. Muahahaha...

This article introduces a collection of special feats that allow you to explore the natural weapons inherent in your race. Many of these feats are associated with the wilder races presented in the official Fifth Edition book VGtM. Always check with your GM before incorporating an option into your character build.

Hell has its Tiamat. But the Abyss has its Beast.
The Beast is terror-come-chaosflesh, a creature borne of fire and damnation. In its true form, The Beast appears as a seven-headed dragon some 60-feet tall. Its very flesh writhes with fire and the faces of the souls it consumes. Magma coats its scales, glistening like water off a duck's back.
What few mad mortal dare worship the Beast know that were the Beast ever to escape the mortal realms, destruction would soon befall man. Onl...

Working on another request that I thought was pretty intriguing, from one of my long-time silver patrons, Keith T.
I'm still thinking a few up, but already I've got a handful of neat ones mostly intended for the races found in Volo's. Hope you enjoy!

This thing is a beast. Literally. These days, when I put together CR 30 stuff, I can so with the experience I have from running a level 20 group. So you know damn well it can beat the asses of heroes that come at it.
More fun to come with Tuesday Requestday.

Perhaps one of the most popular articles ever on my site (it gets nearly 100 organic visits per day), "How to Create a Roguish Archetype" gives a step-by-step process into creating a new rogue subclass for your own Fifth Edition campaigns. I've now finally got around to putting this into PDF format so you can enjoy it on your own time.

Just a quick sneak peek before beddy-bye. Working on Room 10 right now, which is tentatively titled "Tiamat." I haven't totally decided what I want to do with this one beyond the multi-tiered layout.
I'll also have some new monsters up tomorrow, probably some stuff for Aberranterra.
Have a good night, folks!

Here are the collected works of October 2019 in an easy-to-print PDF.
I might go back in and add a table of contents, but for now, it's arranged in roughly the same manner that WotC organizes their stuff.
Enjoy!

Hey all! I'm working on putting Buckler together today. It should be totally sewed up hopefully before noon CST. It's looking to come out around 40 pages or so. I'm doing it in print-friendly method so you can print it and put it into a folder as you so desire.
The only things I'm not including in it are Neverending Dungeon, Tether and Kobold Cauldron, and BroadSword #2. Everything else is getting in there.
This is for Silver tier+, so if you want a copy, be sure to upgrade this m...

Unfortunately, I don't have any fancy images yet as I'm working on top-secret stuff for some friends and my own D&D group, but I do plan on bringing you the following after a long day of creating:
Buckler #1 - The first counterpart to BroadSword, buckler will be a full-color PDF of all the stuff I made in October.
Neverending Dungeon Rooms 5 and 6 - I'll also be...

Huge month this month! Without ranting too much, here's what you can expect from DMDave in November:
Aberranterrra - Probably the biggest release this month will be the core ruleset for Aberranterra, the post-apocalyptic world that Miska Fredman and I are collaborating on. You can probably expect those rules around the 7th.
Buckler October - One of the first things I'm doing this weekend is putting all of October's content into Buckler.
