In this artist talk, recorded from a live Zoom on the 28th March 2025, I spoke to printmaker Jemma Gunning about her past work and recent residencies. This talk is the first in our Spring planographic printmaking term, where we focus on a different artist each month whose work involves planographic printmaking processes like monotype and lithography.

Our second domestic photo-set sees a return to the bathroom where we shot our test for the idea of a domestic series. In this set we explored the compositional potential of the bathtub, partially inspired by Bonnard's interior paintings and partly by the narrative tension that 2025-03-28 10:00:07 +0000 UTC

Hi everybody,
For those of you who have been members on the Draw Patreon for a while you'll know that we had to pause the release of videos for my Portrait Course for a little while. The resumption of the course has been delayed by a range of factors but I'm really delighted to finally be able to share this next instalment of the course! Thank you to all of you who have been patiently awaiting this latest video and I hope you find it helpful.
Best wishes,
Jake

This photoset is the first of our new domestic series, exploring the potential of different rooms of a house as settings for painterly tableau of staged domestic action. In collaboration with our photographer Justyna Neryng and with Tobias Slater-Hunt assisting on lighting the models explored a series of interior narratives, inspired by historical and contemporary works of art. In this particular set we wanted to use the stepped doorways leading out of the dining room to create a series frame...

This photoset marks Hannah's debut as a model on the Draw Patreon, showing off some of her extensive wardrobe and in these photos, dressing for both the cooler days and the sun that is yet to come. The photos were shot as part of a series which we'll be releasing over the next three months, exploring a domestic interior with reference to some of our favourite interior painters. In this series we had spring, and the Belgian painter & filmmaker Michaël Borremans in the backs of our minds, ...

Hello friends,
Well the last three months has been a ride eh? In the midst of so much global turmoil and division I feel very lucky to be able to log in to our Monday portrait class every week and be able to draw in the company of such a kind, supportive, international community. It is a small comfort and I can't tell you all how much I appreciate you all.
Now, down to brass tacks...we've come to the end of our painting term here at Draw and we're now looking ahead to three mont...

And all of a sudden it is March! I can't say it hasn't caught me out, but here in the UK I'm glad to see the first flower pushing through the soil, tempted out by the sunshine that is starting to make it feel like spring is on it's way. It doesn't feel to premature then to share a preview of our March/April/May photosets, a series of domestic tableau and solo images developed over several days in the summer of 2024, when our photographer Justyna Neryng and lighting designer Tobias Slater-Hunt...

It's the 14th February, so here's one for all the lovers out there. In honour of the romance of the day we'd like to present a series of poses around the theme of a love letter being sent and received. Not wanting to be prescriptive, the images presented are ambiguous and open to your interpretation - please recompose them, reimagine them and use them for your own drawing, painting and printmaking reference as you wish. Perhaps the exchanged letters chart a heartbreak, or they are a new decla...
