Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 33: The Battle of Iron

I took a breath as my heart thundered in my chest, several tons of concrete and rubble rested above me. The only thing preventing me and by proxy, Tsunade and Kakashi from being crushed was Kurama’s tails.

Taking control of the tails, I slowly flexed them outwards, forcing the concrete away from us and I was soon greeted to the sight of the snowing sky. The tails quickly retracted into my back, revealing Kakashi and Tsunade, both of whom were unharmed.

“To think that the Akats...

Breathe Chapter 13: The Regional Tournament

“You’re looking a bit green there,” Maria noted as she sat down at the table in front of me. “What, did the milk go bad?”

Blinking, I looked up from my cereal. “No, the milks still fine.”

“Then what’s got you down?”

That was a good question with a more or less simple answer. Today was the day of the Regional Tournament and in a few short hours, I was going to be competing to win the tournament and my bet with Jasmine.

“I guess I’m just a little ...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 32: Ironing Things Out

A few days had passed since the Raikage’s message and we were almost ready to leave. Tsunade had sent her response and had been organizing everything that was needed for our trip to the Land of Iron. An additional Jonin needed to come with to act as protection for her and seeing as we were going to be away for a few days, Konoha needed someone to keep everything running smoothly.

Ordinarily, Tsunade would have picked Shizune to come with, but Tsunade wasn’t going to be able to maint...

Breathe Chapter 12: Afterhours

I sat outside the principal’s office. I’d been waiting for about five minutes now. From the faint sound I could hear from her office, I could tell that she was on a call, but I couldn’t tell what it was about, the walls muffled the sound too well.

My second day at Sanctum Academy had proven to be much better than the first. Ivy and Rust continued to guide me around the Academy, ensuring that I got to the right classes and they ate lunch with me, but beyond that, we hadn’t really...

Pushing Through the LImit Chapter 31: Communication

I laid on my back with shattered rock laying below me as I stared at the tree leaves above me. It had only been half a week since I had been confined to Konoha.

Anko and Shizune had finished raiding the remainder of Orochimaru’s bases with my clones and much to my disappointment, they hadn’t found many more interesting things.

I had hoped that they might find Suigetsu in one of Orochimaru’s bases, but it seemed that by the time I killed Orochimaru, Suigetsu had yet to be abd...

Breathe Chapter 11: The Bet

School, as it turned out, was just as frustrating as I’d remembered. It wasn’t the learning that was annoying, no, that I could easily do on my own. It was the fact that I constantly had to change to a different class several times in a single day.

I was new here and as the teachers announced, I was a temporary student, so I wasn’t going to be staying long. Navigating to the correct class whenever the bell rang was an infuriating endeavor that I’d already failed once already, ha...

Pushing Through the LImit Chapter 30: Home Grown

I tiredly stood on top of the Shodaime’s stone head as I waited for Tsunade. The day I’d just had was extremely grueling. Even with Jiraiya’s advice, the progress I’d made with the Hiraishin had been slow at best. I now understood the baser mechanics of the Jutsu, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t incredibly complicated.

From what I understood, the Hiraishin was a form of summoning contract that you signed with yourself. That in itself didn’t sound too complicated, the compli...

Breathe Chapter 10: Calavera

Several hours had passed since I’d taken care of the Apathy and we’d left the Brunswick farms behind. Maria hadn’t exactly been pleased with my actions concerning the Apathy, calling it a needless and reckless endeavor.

She wasn’t exactly wrong either. The graveyard of a village didn’t see many, if any visitors. There weren’t any signs of anyone even coming near it, let alone entering the town.

Apathy, as it turned out liked to nest in dark places. Unlike other Grimm t...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 29: Stepping Back

I raised an eyebrow as I looked over the scroll that sat on my coffee table. It seemed that I’d forgotten to give Tsunade the scroll containing all of the notes my clones had pilfered from Orochimaru’s lab the day before, which was understandable. Yesterday had been a long day after all. Honestly, I was just glad that it hadn’t been destroyed by the version 2 cloak.

It shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I was going to be meeting with Tsunade again in a few hours alongside Anko a...

Breathe Chapter 9: Last Stop

I sat at the edge of the bed, tying my shoelaces while Maria double checked our bags, ensuring that we hadn’t forgotten anything. The weather had been clear for a few days now and our stay on the Pines farm had come to an end.

“Alright, it seems everything’s here,” Maria announced.

Nodding, I stood up and grabbed the bags, flinging them over my shoulder. We slowly made our way outside where June and Oscar were already waiting. I was going to miss this place.  It was h...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 28: Aftermath

I breathed heavily as I hopped from one tree branch to another. We’d only been traveling for a few hours and nowhere near our top speed, but I was already exhausted.

Unlike the last time that I used Kurama’s full Chakra, Tsunade wasn’t here to heal me, only Shizune and while she was a great medic, she wasn’t as skilled as her master… The best she could do was get me up on my feet so we could begin traveling.

As I landed on the next branch, my food slipped and I found mys...

Breathe Chapter 8: Moving Forward

I retreated several steps as the Death Stalker rushed towards me. I’d made a small mistake in underestimating its speed, thinking that it would move slower seeing as it was so large.

The Death Stalker swiped its claw at me and I brought my blade down to meet it.

“Sun Breathing: Dance”
-500 AP

There was a loud clang as my blade impacted the claw, stopping it, but doing very little else otherwise.

The Death Stalker lashed out with its other claw...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 27: Redrawing the Maps

From the moment we left our joined mindscape, both Bee and I started drawing on our partners chakra, giving both of us a three tailed cloak.

I’ll admit, as far as Bee’s plan goes with causing a international incident… I wasn’t a huge fan of it. I felt that there were better ways for our villages to work together, but at the same time, I knew Bee’s plan would, at the very least, force our villages to communicate with one another.

There was also the fact that I got to go a...

Breathe Chapter 7: Plans and Action

Sweat poured down my face as I ran laps around the farm. The Grimm in the forest, while strong enough to kill civilians were far weaker than the Grimm that lived around Black Rock. There was no challenge in killing them, so I had to find other ways to keep improving.

Instead of focusing on my ability to kill Grimm, I focused on improving my stats. Anything that required effort or hard work around the farm was something that I handled specifically. There was an issue initially with the r...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 26: The Akuma no Shima Incident

I think we could mark this as another successful A-rank mission. My clones had finished ransacking the laboratory and brought everything of interest to be safely sealed. All of Orochimaru’s henchmen were killed, with the exception of the doctor and the girl. Anko’s clone  would be detonating a Rasenshuriken alone with my own the moment we all got out of range.

“Do you really think it doesn’t make a difference?” Anko asked softly. It was the first time she spoke since I sn...

Breathe Chapter 6: The Middle of Nowhere

I still wasn’t sure if it had been a good idea to trust Maria to handle everything. According to her, we had more than enough money to pay for a trip to one of the neighboring towns and for a week’s lodging, which brought up the question on why she decided that we had to travel on foot.

“Come on, I could run faster than that when I was ten years old! Speed it up,” Maria taunted.

Correction, I was traveling by foot. Maria was sitting on my overinflated backpack that was jam...

Pushing Through the LImit Chapter 25: A Simple A-rank Mission

We’d been traveling for a few hours now and it was clear to see that we weren’t going to be arriving at the next one of Orochimaru’s labs before night fell. Ordinarily, that wouldn’t be too much of a problem. We were all capable Shinobi and the change in lighting shouldn’t affect us… however, there was a small problem.

Both Anko and Shizune had been acting oddly.

Shizune had simply been embarrassed by what had happened in Tsunade’s office and wanted to forget that th...

Breathe Chapter 5: Big fish in a Small Pond

I ducked under a lunging Ursa Major and watched as it sailed over me. They were physically stronger than me, fast when they lunged and durable to the point where I wasn’t strong enough to harm them without using Sun Breathing, but they had one major failing, the same one that all the Grimm I’ve faced up until now have had.

They were predictable.

With the numerous Ursa Major that I’d fought in the past week, I’d quickly noticed that they all had the same attack pattern. The...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 24: The New Normal

I let out a soft yawn as I woke up. Attempting to stretch, I found that something was keeping my arms from moving. All manner of situations flashed through my head, had I been kidnapped, had Obito struck early? My eyes snapped open immediately and I was already beginning to mold chakra before I suddenly stopped.

“Right,” I murmured.

Blonde hair was pooled on my chest and a pair of familiar arms tightly wrapped around me as Tsunade continued to sleep. It seemed that while showi...

Breathe Chapter 4: Progress

I kept my breath steady as I rushed through the trees. Hearing the sound of something swinging through the air, I dodged to the side, pressing my back to a tree as a plain wooden spear zoomed past me and impaled a tree in front of me.

“You’re gonna have to do better than that, Coal,” Maria called out.

I dropped to the floor just as her scythe cut through the tree I was hiding behind. Just barely avoiding her blade. Attempting to move, I soon found Maria’s blade stabbed int...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 23: Boned

Giving Anko access to a single tailed chakra cloak had been a decidedly bad idea, not because she went berserk or anything… I mean, she did go kind of berserk while tearing apart the base with her a pair of chakra claws, but I felt that was well earned. Orochimaru had been a blemish on her past and she had every reason to let off some steam.

No. The reason it was a mistake to lend Anko access to the chakra cloak was how she immediately acted afterwards.

“C’mon, just let me u...

My lungs burned as I took deep breaths of the ice cold air. My muscles were beginning to lock up due to over exertion and my I had pretty much lost all grip in my hands as I continued to drag the tree that I’d cut down back to Maria’s cabin.

I’d initially assumed that I was going to spend the next month activating my Aura while Maria walked me through tips on how to better control it… I’d been wrong. Maria’s instructions had been to exhaust myself doing physical things while...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 22: A Much Needed Conversation

Escorting Iruka to the hospital had gone pretty well. We talked for a bit, mostly about how impressed Iruka was with my growth, but other than that, not much else had happened... Well, there was the whole thing with Mizuki transforming back into a human that looked like he was in his 80’s while my clone carried him, but I doubt that had anything to do with me.

In the end, I left Iruka and Mizuki at the hospital with a clone and signaled an exhausted Shizune down to let her know that M...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 21: One Thing After Another

“C’mon brat, keep up,” Anko called out as she jumped from tree to tree.

We had been traveling this way for a few hours now. At the start, Anko had announced that she wasn’t going to hold back on my account and instead, she was going full speed. That wasn’t too much of a problem for me. I could safely use Kurama’s chakra for hours on end, more than that, once I used it, I would be more than fast enough to keep up with Anko.

However… I wanted to see how well I could ke...

Pushing Through the Limit Chapter 20: Responsibility

Several days had passed since I had returned to Konoha and I had to say, taking it easy was kind of boring. There was no internet for me to look things up. I had a TV, but it could only play tapes and I only had one movie about a princess, some samurai and some kind of different coloured chakra thing, which in itself was kind of boring to watch when I could literally spit fireballs and make dragons out of water.

Another thing, I hadn’t run into any of my friends other than Sasuke on t...

Triple chapter update for Pushing Through the Limit this Friday

I'm posting 3 chapter of Pushing Through the Limit this coming Friday. I just thought I'd let you all know.

It's a new arc, so I thought it would be nice to jumpstart it with a few chapters instead of one.

There is also another reason why I'm posting three. On the fanfiction website, I've gotten a lot of push back with one of my decisions for this story (Mainly the Pairing)... something that is brought up in the next few chapters.

So I decided that instead of worrying about ...

Breathe Chapter 2: Black Rock

A day had quickly come and gone since I’d woken up and true to her word, Maria was now escorting me to Black Rock, a small town on the edge of an enclosed ocean that was a few miles from her home.

The trip, while only a few miles, was extremely hazardous. We’d come across a few grim, which Maria easily dispatched with her walking stick that actually turned out to be a scythe, but the Grimm wasn’t the only danger.

The entire forest was covered in snow, so much so that it was ...

I never believed that I would feel such joy arriving back in Konoha, but a full day of walking coupled with Karin arguing with Tayuya, a quiet Jiraiya and sound four, Shizune fretting over Tonton and Tsunade who seemed more amused by my misery than she was annoyed by everyone else… It had been a long trip.

Just a few more steps and the sound four become someone else’s problem and I can finally relax for a bit.

Darkness, it was all as I could see as I slowly drifted through a void. It didn’t bother me, there really wasn’t much that could bother me right now. It was quiet, peaceful, relaxing. I felt like was between the moment where you’re awake and asleep.

I could have stayed here forever, but all it took for me to wake up was a brief spark of light. Just a small flicker that interrupted the darkness, something for my mind to latch onto and let me know that I was still here.

Update March 26th

Hey everyone. Just giving a quick update. Chapter 19 for Pushing Through the Limit is coming along nicely and will be ready for posting on Friday, but that's not what this update is about.

I had a relatively quiet weekend and in between writing for PTL, I started writing something else as well.

A RWBY fic that has precisely 1 chapter that I'm going to be posting tomorrow.

Pushing Through the Limit is always going to be my most prioritized fic, so don't worry about me delayin...
