December 9, 2023 - Update

Hi!

The chapters this week finally address an issue that has hung around since book 4 (a hint since I’m not a total jerk…town building). I think I might be as relieved as Ruwen to have that addressed. Couple this with the previous chapters relating to the Black Pyramid Quartermaster (items which stem from book 1!!!!!) and Ruwen has finally checked some stuff off his list.

Hello!

I had high hopes for this week, but last week’s travel left us all with colds, and I didn’t get to write as much as I’d hoped. Instead of having four chapters ready, I only have two.

November 25, 2023 - Update

Hi!

Super short update this morning as I’ve been up almost 24 hours due to travel. Another consequence of this is I’m only posting two chapters, and the second one hasn’t been edited. I will try and make up the chapters next week.

One of the complaints I’ve heard about book 9 is it seems fragmented and there is no clear direction. This has concerned me, and I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about it. My intent was to telegraph the end point of the book in the very beginning, which I did, and then take care of a bunch of the items on Ruwen’s priority list on the way to the end. We are in the last stretch of 2023, and I feel like this year especially went by in a blink. I didn’t reach the writing goals I set for myself for 2023, and book 9 has been the hardest book I’ve ever written. So I’m ready for this year to be over. October 28, 2023 - Update

Hi!

After sending out the update last week and talking about deadlines, I talked with Travis and got a better idea of the timeline. Right now, he has book 9 scheduled for Feb 12, 2024. That likely means the audio book won’t be available until early March.

That last couple of books I’ve managed to have a simultaneous release of ebook and audio. If I do that for book 9, the duration between its release and book 8 will be 8 months.
