Hi All,

I hope everyone's week is going well. Travis Baldree stopped by the discord server and let us all know he will start the audio of Uru's Third Temple on September 25ish. I will let everyone know when he starts for sure so you can watch him (he has a video stream) as he performs the book. It is really really fun to watch and listen.

I opened up The Last Messenger chapters 11, 12, and 13 for Root.

I opened up The Last Messenger chapters 14, 15, and 16 for Harvester.

Last Messenger - Chapter 19

Chapter 19 – Aael

Aael sat on the floor of his room and juggled four stones, the moon his only light. The repetitive motion quieted his misery. A week ago he’d nearly died and every day since had gotten worse.

Today, his parents had gone to Hylt and left him in the Abbey, like an infant that needed protection. Padda had embarrassed him in front of Mia, something about a lack of focus. Mia had avoided him since the night of the fight, and it made him anxious ...

Chapter 18 – Aael

Aael stood at the bottom of the arena’s stone wall where the torch light didn’t reach. He looked up at sun towers far above, their light pointed into the arena. Bacchus, the closest thing he had to a friend, operated one of those towers.

Aael faced Mia. “Which tower?”

Mia rolled her eyes. “Sea side, eighth spiral, forty second dagger.”

“And Bacchus?”

Mia sighed. “Foot shorter than you, black hair, big belly...

Chapter 17 – Mia

Mia hid in the idlewood trees and watched Aael’s front door. She wanted to vomit. She cursed Elu and the Council and their stupid obsession with prophecy. But she came, duty demanded it.

A cramp caused Mia to clutch her stomach. The lies consumed her, both physically and mentally. Her life revolved around the truth and this charade made a mockery of that. She twisted and touched her back. With her finger she felt the raised outer ring of her...

Chapter 16 - Aael

Aael sat in the darkness and his mind reeled. He could count on one hand the times his father had said he loved him. He hugged his knees. The words didn’t make him happy, they terrified him. It confirmed what he’d suspected. His father thought they might die.

Faint voices filtered through the dirt wall, three of them. Haphell had arrived. Aael placed his ear against the wall and listened for sounds of violence, but it sounded like muted con...

Chapter 15 – Caden

“How long were we,” Aael paused, “there?”

“A few heartbeats,” Caden said.

Aael’s eyes widened. “It felt like days.”

Caden nodded. “Did you feel the perfection and the utter believability of it?”

“Yes.”

Caden bowed his head. “Ghost Mages can keep you there forever. You would never know. It is a cruel thing, taking away someone’s belief in what is real.”

Caden sensed Thalt’s appro...

Chapter 14 – Caden

Caden walked through the double doors, located to the right of the central library desk, and entered the large instruction room. He stood at the top of the stairs and counted the other children already here: twenty-five. Rings of chairs, set in half circles, faced a small stage and the room sloped downward toward it. Like a sewage ditch, he thought.

A brown-haired man in a yellow robe stood on the stage. The red cushioned chairs and da...

Hi all!

I've always been a nerd. For the last couple of decades, every few years I'd build a new computer, or upgrade components with whatever I could afford. As I got older and had less time for games, I stopped doing that. Now, computers get used mostly for boring stuff.

This week, I finally bought myself a nice laptop. SSD, RTX card, 16gb ram, blah blah blah. It is the most powerful computer I've ever owned. I'm using it right now to type this, and it makes me happy. But it des...

Hi everyone!

I don't have much of an update tonight but wanted to get The Last Messenger chapters posted. From now on, I'm going to start the title with the series name since it gets confusing scrolling past all the headers that start"Chapter."

I opened up chapters 5, 6, and 7 to Root.

I opened up chapters  8, 9, and 10 to Harvester.

I added chapters 11, 12, and 13 to Step Master, Blapy's Favorite, and Divine.

Thank you so much for supporting these stories.<...

Chapter 13 – Aael

Aael gritted his teeth as his stomach floated as if weightless. He looked up through the tunnel at the distant sky above. A moment later, the tunnel collapsed, and he fell in complete darkness. He gripped his mom tightly, confused and scared.

Without visual clues, Aael couldn’t tell how far they fell, but eventually they slowed. Light assailed his eyes, and he squeezed them shut. His feet struck solid ground, and he bent his knees to soften...

Chapter 12 – Aael

“Take off your shirt,” Saniel said.

Aael did it immediately. His dad might be in danger, and he didn’t want to make things worse.

Saniel placed one hand on Aael’s sternum and the other on his back. “This will hurt.”

Pain. Aael stumbled, only the pressure of his mom’s hands kept him upright. It felt like his skin had melted, and he gasped, the pain too overwhelming to scream. It faded to a tingling sensation, and then...

“Tell me about the Gods,” Saniel said.

Aael stared at her. “Dad?”

“Very funny. Now answer.”

“Well, until the Separation…”

She sliced the air with her hand. “No boring history.”

After a few seconds, Aael tried again. “Thalt is our God. He represents light, life, and chaos. Worshiped in the north. His symbol is a six colored star that matches the six major branches of magic.”

“And Raln?...

Hi Everyone!

I'll keep this update short tonight as it's already really late. As you probably noticed I released three chapters this week. I did this because a lot of these chapters are informational about Ruwen's new Class. It is information everyone needs, but I realize some people dislike it as it slows down the pacing.

I opened up chapters 5 and 6 to Root.

I opened up chapters 7 and 8 to Harvester.

I added chapters 9, 10, and 11 to Step Master, Blapy's Favorite, an...

Hi All!

Hope the week is going well for everyone. This week's Last Messenger chapters might be a little more rough than normal. I've been focused on the Divine Apostasy book four chapters and didn't have time to go back over these chapters again.

I had an epic battle with a ceiling fan installation these last few days. I'm happy to report I finally won the war after losing many battles. Have you ever had one of those projects where everything that could go wrong did? That's what i...

Chapter 10 - Saniel

Saniel leaned out the front door and shouted. “Aael!”

Leaving the door open, Saniel walked to her favorite chair and sat. Plain and crafted from pine, the chair reminded her of mountains and snow, home. She waited. She really hated waiting.

A few minutes later, Aael’s head inched carefully into the open doorway, his body hidden by the doorframe.

Saniel sighed. “What are you doing?”

“I had a problem with a door ea...

Chapter 9 – Aael

“Si’Aln, what do you fear?” the Abbot asked.

Si’Aln was the Abbot’s nickname for Aael, used in private or to get his attention, and was the useless bits of aln left after a craftsman had finished their work. Aael couldn’t make si’aln himself.

Aael’s worthlessness was so great he couldn’t even make something useless.

Happiness that the Abbot had given Aael a special name mixed with sadness that it de...

Chapter 8 – Aael

The scent of the fury kisses smothered Aael as he carried the flowers to Mia’s new quarters. The Abbot stood with Mia in her new house and pointed toward the refectory.

“…if the cooks are gone, grab what you need. It is never locked,” the Abbot said.

The Abbot had said to meet them in the grove in an hour, so Aael set the flowers just inside the doorway and sprinted toward the idlewood trees before the Abbot found something else for Aael to do.&nbs...

Hi Everybody!

As people read The Last Messenger they are seeing similarities to the Divine Apostasy series. None of these are intentional. The Last Messenger was the story that brought me out of a long period of no writing a decade ago. I have been struggling a little to revise it as I'm a different writer now than I was ten years ago. Even with my revision, it reads differently to me than my current writing.

But, one thing that is interesting to me is how my themes haven't change...
