I took a deep breath. And then another. And a few more, just to be safe. I downed a shot of gin to ease my nerves. It was hardly my shot of choice, but it was all I had.

It could have been a typical evening scene for any average household: The young couple sitting in the living room, watching television and reading the newspaper, while the baby sat in a playpen, occasionally rolling around or amusing itself the best it could with whatever toys were there.
A closer review would reveal that this was not all that typical, however. The baby, though dressed in nothing but a diaper, was 19 years old, and it took every ounce of strength in her body...
