Beta Testers - I will be away until Monday

Life Sim 4 Beta 1 Released

Just giving a heads up that the beta has finally been released.  The main hangup was that I added 3,500 words of workout scenes, which will hopefully be considered much more enjoyable than the previous generic ones!

Keep the legacy bicep/squat/bench press workouts, or not?

Hello everyone,


Getting close to finishing up the workout scenes I detailed earlier.  We're looking at a couple thousand words of content here once it's finished - like the feats of strength, these are somewhat similar to an actual FMG story in presentation.

Update

Hands have recovered!


The big thing now is I've gone ahead and started writing a bunch of individual workout scenes.  It's now going to be similar to Feats of Strength where you get different scenes based off of the GF's strength level  (though even among these there will be permutations like how much weight she lifts).


Currently have about ~10 workouts outlined - may add some more, or cut a couple depending on how involved they are.

Alright - fingers started cramping up, which has reduced my ability to work for right now; need to try and sleep or at least rest my hands for a few hours.


Ended up getting a bit too ambitious - all of the systems are in place and (to my knowledge) fully working.  But I wanted to make the actual weight lifting scenes much more dynamic and (imo) intense.  Also have been adding more to the new community college, and living room conversations.  So these things are still ...

4.0 - the final stretch

Hello everyone,


I am officially in the final stretch of Life Sim 4.0.  This was, on my end, the largest update since the Intelligence + Shop + Job update a while back.  I will be 100% crystal clear: on your end it is not as big of a difference.  This is because I essentially recreated the game's structure to cut the number of passages from 229 to UNDER 100.  (All while adding MORE content to the game.)

Update - Current Strength Coding

Should there be superpowers in the future?

Would you like the possibility of an update in the future introducing superpowers?  These would likely be new stats that are strengthened over time (like telekenesis, telepathy, flight, invulnerability, etc.)

They would probably be unlocked by building a special machine, drinking a certain potion, finding a piece of equipment, etc.

Should the girlfriend have auras/electricity/etc at higher strength levels?

First off, just wanted to say that I'm not dead, and the project isn't abandoned.  Been going through some personal stuff (touched upon in a recent DA journal) and took a bit of a mental health break.


Anyways, something came to me recently - what if at the higher levels of strength (like 40-50+) the girlfriend had an 'aura' around her?  (Think anime / DBZ ish) or perhaps even a lightning effect around her biceps?

Version 4.0 Update 2

Time for...  Time!


One of the things being implemented to version 4.0 is... time!


There will now be a persistent in-game clock that advances when you perform certain activities.  


For example, working out will take 2 hours.  If you try to work out at 11PM or midnight, then you won't be allowed to.  (unless I messed up)

Latest Update

Hello everyone.


Despite my earlier grumbling, I have been grinding a bit on the strength update.  It's going to be a rather large update structurally.  I'm probably going to be physically recreating the game it in a new Twine file.  However, you aren't going to see that much of a change on your end (aside from the new mechanics, content, etc) - as the same descriptions and basic gameplay loops will be retained.

Wait a bit for the strength update, or make a smaller interactive experience for now?

Hey everyone,


So the strength update...  Well, I think it's going to improve the game a lot.  However, it's ended up becoming a rather large undertaking, because every single event that modifies strength has to be changed to some degree.  And also, there is a whole new system where you upgrade the home gym, and the actual strength levels are being revamped so they're more realistic (20 inch arms will no longer = strongest human alive)
