GG Page 6 WIP - "Inseam Leg Measurement"

I've been wanting to draw this page since very early on in the process. I know I need to make more room for speech bubbles probably but I just fell in love with the erotic potential of split drawers ♥

There's still some very unfinished lines in places but I'm going to leave a lot of that until I can feel like I know what the book as a whole will look like and then I'll come back and refine details.

February Report

Poppy, Gibson Girls and other sketches and art thoughts

These are sketches I didn't know I was hoarding until now.

I'm feelin' green this month. I practiced a lot of a certain kind of academic figure drawing when I was back in school and got used to drawing with charcoal and white conte on paper that I toned with gouache. Back then I always used these bland af browns and grays because I was a very serious artist man, lol. It's funny to see this new stuff as an extension of something I did 10 years ago yikes.

Josephine Montilyet (Dragon Age Inquisition) Gibson style

Miscellaneous weekend sketches

peach tones and comic process thoughts

Well gang, this was one of those weeks where nothing went quite right. A lot of delays and last minute hiccups on my SFW stuff and then a bunch of technical issues(never install a new drivers in the middle of a project) meant basically no progress on the comic, which is frustrating, all I managed was these de-stressing, for fun sketches.

I know some of you might be a little disappointed that you're going to have to wait until after the Gibson girls for the librarian comic, or for Frazetta stuff, but I'm also impatient, so I'm just going to keep sketching different stuff as a break from the work on the Gibson comic!

Gibson Girl Roughs (1-16)

Most of you probably know the drill at this point but here they are. Sloppy as ever. I want to finalize some character designs before I fully jump in, but I'd like to flout some Gibson Girl convention and have one of them be a redhead (maybe even strawberry blondish?).

January Update - !Printer Acquired! + Gibson Comic Roughs

This is going to be a little bit of an out of the blue update, but remember how last March I said I wanted to sell physical prints so I could get a new printer to make nicer print comics at home? Well I finally sold enough physical comics to pay for it :)
After a stupid amount of research I finally decided on this fella, a Kyocera laserjet printer that weighs more than me but prints real nice, and can handle all kindsa different paper and even--get this--print on transparency, check it out...

Gibson Comic thumbnails + script snippet +reference library preview

At long last. I've got these. A set of 18, which is a little longer than I was hoping so I think I might yet rework the first 4 and try to condense them down to at least 2.

I promise I'll have more to show for this soon--the real tedious hard part is over I think. 

It might not look like it but these 18 boxes of scribbles are like 4 hours of work 😓 But either you figure it out at this scale, or you figure it out on the bigger page, and that takes a LOT more time.

I'm halfway through thumbnails for the Gibson Girl story right now and I gotta do some reworking so that it stays within a reasonable page scope, so I don't have an update on that quiiiiite yet, but I am committed to having at least a first page done before the end of the month!~

Big drawing drop

Drawing, stabilized

So for the longest time I'd avoided using stabilization on my lines because I hated Photoshop's smoothing, little did I know that it was totally fine in other software. It's amazing how long you can do a thing and just totally write off other options.

Anyways, now I'm obsessed with line smoothing. 😂 My main beef with smoothing in Adobe stuff was that it took any small hatch mark I made and smoothed it out of existence and made it difficult  to get the marks I expect to get, but ...

Comic Poll

I've decided I simply must get another project rolling even if I feel a little un-prepared at the moment, it'll be good for me to do something fast and simple and I'm going to make the burden of deciding which one yours to bear 😈

I'm thinking something around 8-12 pages. Short and sweet, maybe even in a square format like the Jessica comic? We'll see--make your choice!

I've been having a little trouble getting the next comic going, I know I'm probably over thinking things, but part of the process has been revisiting some old characters, like Holly, one of the hikers that went unused! 

I'm wondering  if she'd be a good companion for the librarian character I've been sketching a lot lately.
