Gotta wait and see if I can deliver on my other monthly goals but I'm happy that these pages at least got done. Eventually I'll get these juiced up with color but for now I'm just happy they're in this stage.

I found some really ancient screenshots on my computer of my desktop 10 years ago or so and it inspired me to play with an idea I'd had not been able to explore before now.

I think of it as being kinda not that different than some of the collage-y spreads of characters I've been drawing over the past year. Normally I just don't draw boxes around them or have this much overlapping.

I don't always get to act on it but I do kinda have a maximalist streak in me and this sort of thigs ...

Maybe it's a product of the way I make comics slowly over a long period of time but I'm always kinda surprised by how much I shift things around even at the last moment. I thought I knew how this chapter would end but I'm pretty sure I just changed it 😅

Lost in animation sketching land

This month I feel like has been a little bit light on sketches. When I've been wanting to zone out and doodle I've been moreso leaning on animation, which unfortunately means I'm just starting and not finishing things a lot.

When I was first learning animation years ago I started doing short daily 15 minute animation exercises as a way of taking the big scary edges off the process so I felt comfortable in it. Being comfortable is always my prerequisite for making anything.

Something's blooming in the garden

I really can't stop drawing Virginia Bluebells. They are such cute shapes and I was never totally satisfied with my Bluebell fae designs last year. I just wanted to draw something a little bit more impish, so this is more of a Bluebell sprite or something.

I think I'm still missing an opportunity draw some weird plant-y girldick but when I've tried to take the too far in the past it trips and falls into something uncanny.

There's some pretty noticeable dialog gaps I haven't filled in here. 😅 I was trying to make use of my attention span of the moment to just figure out the drawings and leave the dialog for later.

It's one of the ways I've learned to play with my brain's creative moods, is to do the work I can do when I feel like my brain's functioning in that way, otherwise I'd wait until I felt ready to tackle the whole thing.

Inevitably returning to horny garden witches

Well, it was probably always going to happen. I'm just sharing this as a WIP. I've been retweeting old witch stuff from last spring and remembering how much I enjoyed that simple watercolor approach, so if you don't mind, I think I'll be coming back to this.

Demonstrating my love of long ears in sketches

Yeah the cartoon thing is never-ending. I don't know what is up with that cutesy elf princess in the top left is all about. I think I actually had Sherlock Hound on the brain as I was drawing her. I love the proportions of the characters of that show.

The second image is another one of those "I need to draw Libby as a playboy bunny" kinda pages. Again with the light lines on a dark background. It's an interesting look and it's kinda weird to draw that way.

Libby&Holly Ch3.12-14 Roughs

Some might call it sloppy but I'm choosing to believe it's being authentic. These roughs have some pretty sloppy moments and possibly placeholder drawings but I'm okay with leaving some things unresolved so that I just solve those problems as I'm actually drawing the pages.

I think you can tell where I struggled by how many stray lines there are in any given panel because it means I erased, cut, transformed, pasted, etc. to make it work.

When life gives you lemons you draw horny cartoon characters

The single line gesture of cartoon characters is just so much fun. I find it really tantalizing to play with reducing information down for these drawings. I'm also trying to pursue the hard hitting questions: what would Libby look like if she had bunny ears?
