house spirits are often lesser elementals, undead, fae, fiend, or celestials that inhabit a house. the home owner makes a deal with one of these creatures. it cares for and tends to the house ether with cooking cleaning or other tasks. and in return the lesser spirit gets a lair, a place of safety to protect it from much stronger entities that would look to harm it.
