A few updates
- The end of Death After Death is in sight. I don't know how many of my Patron's actually read that satirical Isekai. That's only book one of course, I'll need to do a book two, but I need a break first to think about it. That will open up a hole in my schedule for the next book, Golemancer, in any case.
- In Tenebroum, the time skips are about to come back. I can't remember if it was a comment or a review that said, "Most dungeoncore stories eventuall...

Ch. 26 - A World On Fire
The goblins tore through the soft underbelly of the county of Greshen for the next few weeks on their relentless journey to Fallravea. Wherever they went, smoke followed in their wake. Krulm’venor made sure of that much. He was overflowing with power now, even if he bristled at the idea of serving anyone, and made sure to point that out to the lich in every conversation they had.
“But I am the stone burner,” the godling would say whenever the Lich ...

Ch. 25 - A Ruined Life
Simon’s first thought was to panic, but his second thought was to do it quietly. He didn’t know what his situation was, or how much worse it would be if he screamed, so instead he flexed and shifted to gauge the strength of his bonds and looked around.
Nothing he found made the situation any better. Not only was he tied up so tightly that it was hard to breathe, but he seemed to be being dragged slowly in the direction of his feet. He also couldn’t s...

Well, the week is over, and the year is over. Fortunately Steam saw fit not to put Dwarf Forge or Ixion on sale, so I've been reasonably productive between holiday activities.
I don't really have a new year's resolution this year. There's nothing big I want to change. I'm actually pretty happy with how things are right now, so I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing.
I'm kind of a big deal - I mean, I've got 7 whole Patrons and a story read by *Hundred*

Ch. 24 - Muddy Waters
Everything was in motion now. The swamp was used to having days and weeks to plan and decide, but for reasons not entirely within its control. One moment it was designing it’s first spirit traps, and commanding its dark messenger to lay a few of them up and down the river, so it could test them, and the next it looked up and everything was burning.
The Viscount at least was safe enough still, the swamp thought as it briefly checked on their progress. The ...

Ch. 23 - Traumatized
Simon lay there for a long time, just struggling to put the pieces of his mind back together. He was whole and unharmed, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t escape from the flashbacks that kept springing to his mind unbidden. In the absence of the constant fog of pain and hunger he’d been lost in for so long, his mind was suddenly too sharp, and suddenly all the terrible things he’d done were in better focus now than when he’d been doing them. The...

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all enjoy the bonus chapter. It was the only gift I could give on such short notice. Hopefully I can improve on that next year.
I hope you're staying warm wherever you, which is a pretty tall order with the weather as it stands right now.
I continue to make good progress of Death After Death and am glad the end is in sight on that one. I don't expect either of the other two stories I'm currently posting to finish until next fall, ho...

Ch. 21 - Uncertain Promises
Kelvun removed the wide brimmed hat to wipe the sweat from his brow as he gazed out at the broken, brick-red badlands in the distance. The hat was ugly, and he’d refused it the first day because it in no way matched his riding outfit, but once it had started warming up, and they’d run out of shade he’d changed his mind. The heat shimmer made the boulder studded hills waver uncertainly, he was glad to have the ugly hat, but even it’s shade didn’t h...

(Author’s Note: I feel like maybe this chapter should be lengthened and split into two chapters, but I didn’t want to dwell on Simon’s love story too much. Let me know what you think. Does it need more?)
Ch. 21 - Just a Barmaid
When Simon woke up in the fresh air and the empty bed of his cabin, a small part of him had died. He felt more hurt than he’d been by any of his deaths. The pain he felt as he imagined what had happened to poor Freya was worse than the fi...

So, I continue to make progress on all stories and have at least a week buffer across the board again, which is nice, but not as much as I was hoping for. I had a killer headache earlier this week, so that set me back a bit.
BUT - I have made enough progress to justify a Christmas present to all my readers, so next week there will be 3 chapters of Tenebroum instead of 2. That's because in two weeks I'm going to put out a bonus chapter for everyone, but you will get it first. ...

Last night someone asked on Scribblehub, "When will the lich get his own name? (Tenebroum)." I thought this was a very good question to ask. The answer is more complicated though.
The darkness in the swamp is still distilling into its final form. It is flawed, fragmented, and not yet a complete entity, hence why I sometimes refer to it as the wraith, and other times as the darkness or the swamp. It is a cesspool of minds, though only the most important half dozen really matter. Or...

Ch. 19 - Eye of the Storm
Thinking fast, Simon rushed across the room and brained the two that were trying to struggle their way through the gap in the boards. They just flopped there, like the world’s most disgusting cork, and their dead weight mostly kept the rest of them from coming through. He looked around and grabbed the closest trestle table, knocking it over to make a crude barrier. Then he started shoving it towards the breach. It was heavier than it looked though, and goin...

Ch. 19 - Dying Embers
Kruln’venor was disgusted by its circumstances, but that was nothing new. That was the first emotion it felt each evening, as it flared to life when the Burning Skulls added fuel to their cookfires and lit the bonfires at their shrines. During the day, when it was slowly reduced to embers, it lacked the awareness to contemplate such things, but each evening it was born again, and that meant that each evening it had to remember how far it had fallen.
Kruln...

Right now, two things are pretty clear: Most of my readers are Tenebroum fans (as are most of my Patrons), and due to working on something else for NaNoWriMo, I am slowly burning though my backlog. That won't be an issue. I plan to work a bit on all of my ongoing stories once I get over the halfway point on the thing I'm working on.
After that though, in December my focus will return to rebuilding my buffer (and making maps!) I have no plans to start anything new until Death After...

Ch. 17 - The Viscount
After the floodwaters receded the swamp focused most of its attention on the goblin tribes and their constant wars to the west of its domain, but that did not mean it failed to explore other opportunities. While the Goblins warred, and the zombies chiseled ever deeper into the earth it always kept a watchful eye out for new victims while it explored the edges of its domain.
No matter what else it was doing, ea...

Ch. 17 - Lost in Translation
“So there are actually other people here,” Simon said, testing his voice again as he lay on his bed. “Cute one’s too.” He smiled as he lay there. Sure, she’d killed him, but that was almost understandable. That sort of thing happened all the time in zombie movies. What really mattered is that there were cute girls in The Pit and that zombies weren’t so tough after all. There was even beer! He ju...

So as I mentioned in my first post, one of my goals with this Patreon is to raise the funds to buy some mapmaking software. Ideally, I'd like to do several maps: one of the dungeon (obviously), one of the expanding domain of the lich, and one of [Censored due to Spoiler]. The above is a rough idea for the second floor of the Lichs dungeon. This is the level the adventurers inevitably die in. It's sti...

Ch. 15 - Words of Power
Death by suffocation was definitely on Simon’s top five worst deaths so far. It had all the helpless terror of drowning combined with the pain and horror of having his face melted off. When he woke up in his bed though, he was more frustrated than horrified. How the hell was he supposed to kill something that couldn’t be stabbed and barely had a body to fight?
“Magic,” he said, answering h...

Enjoy the next two chapters of Tenebroum! Next post of 11/14.
Ch. 15 - Solovino’s Last Song
For almost a month, Louven Solovino had finally known peace again. The dreams had stopped almost completely, and for the first time in recent memory, he’d sung all the verses of a particularly bawdy song to a crowd of drunks in the common room of the tavern he was staying in last night. He’d told them all exactly how the maid had gotten waylaid, and even during the ...

Ch. 11 - The Leftovers
True to his word, most of Kaligos’ men died fighting, but to their credit they took down several times their weight in zombies before they fell. The swamp didn’t care. All the broken pieces were just spare parts that would be repurposed for other experiments. With the tribe of lizardmen and their strange worship of it all but extinguished it wouldn’t have enough energy to fuel so many constructs in perpetuity anyway. In time they might yet grow in number a...

Ch. 11 - Another Way Out
When he left the cabin that day he never planned on coming back. If that damn path looped around then he would just take a different route. Anything that got him out of this crazy hall of mirrors was okay by him. He checked the satchel on the end of his spear one last time to make sure he wouldn’t lose anything, and then he started walking.
“There has to be a way out somewhere,” he mumbled to himself as he walked to the ruins of the temple. It was ...
