I revived another piece that had been in a long development hell. It's the first time I've done a piece alternative version on this scale. I've been wanting to get better at it later and this was a great piece to practice on. I won't bore you with the details here, but it was quite a lot of planning and work to make it happen, and I'm pretty happy with the result. :>

I tried a bunch of sketches for her, initially in swimsuits, until I had this flashbulb moment of drawing her as a gyaru. She already has the tan skin, just dress her in the classic school uniform, add a little bit of makeup, paint the nails, curl the ponytails a little, add a bunch of scrunchies, and bob's your uncle. This is a fun one! This is actually a remake of the very first digital full color piece I made, all the way back in December 27, 2009. Sadly I missed the 10 year anniversary by a few months, but thought it'd be a fun piece to do anyways. :p
I wasn't sure how to modernize the look of her shirt, but then I had the idea of making it a tie-dye. I've never done one of those before, so it was interesting to approach it.

Touhou's awoo fluffer at the beach!
This pose was from a flash of inspiration I had and I really wanted to try capturing this idea. The imagery of that space between the belly and the underboob and the back arm as the girl is leaning over the light source, I that seemed really cool in my head. After putting it on (digital) paper I feel like it doesn't stand out as much overall, but it was still neat to try to capture it, and I think it's an interesting pose. :>

Boy, talk about deceptively tricky poses! For some reason this took me a long time. Getting the push on the shorts to look natural + fit with their design took more research than I had built up at the time. Stripes are also always a bit tricky, and whenever I redrew her arms I'd have to fix all the stripes. But I think it all turned out okay in the end. :p

Shantae's just out chillin, not being the genie nanny for once, when Risky drops in and challenges her to a beach ball duel.
I started this piece quite a while ago, when Shantae won a fanart poll. Then I added Risky to the mix and colored it, and it was in the simmer station until yesterday. Which, coincidentally, the new Shantae game comes out today! Perfect timing again. :p
