Sneak Peek Image - GT Waterwheel - Power Generator

I've done it! Now the waterwheel also generates electricity after placing it onto your lot. Unlike solar panels and wind turbines, weather doesn't effect how much electricity it will generate. This also means that it doesn't matter if it's day or night. Want to generate more power? Simply place more waterwheels.

I will also add this to the other waterwheels  that will be in this waterwheel pack eventually.

Future Sims4Studio Update - Pond Tags and more! (I already tested it!)

As I make a lot of mods that contain vfx and I also like those to be placeable on water surfaces and to be found in the Pond section in Build Mode, I reached out to Andrew once again to ask if those things could be made a bit easier.

Pond Tags (Water styles/Pond Objects/Pool Objects/Pond VFX)
Right now you'll need to go into the warehouse tab and add all Pond tags manually. Now I know how to do this, but it would be easier for others if this was made...

Sneak Peek Image - GT Waterwheel (New) Thumbnail

Thumbnail
As I've lowered the waterwheel to fit the concrete base a bit better, I also needed to remake the custom thumbnail. In the screenshot you'll see how it looks right now! Think it came out pretty well. :)

Power Generator
Underneath the description text I've also already added how much power it will produce, but I still need to work a bit on that. I expect to share more about it later this week.

GT Waterwheel Thumbnail and Power Production

Custom Thumbnail
In my post from last week I mentioned that I completed the custom thumbnail (As vfx don't show on game generated thumbnails). As I now changed the height of the waterwheel compared to the concrete support, I need to make another custom thumbnail as otherwise the image of the thumbnail wouldn't be the same as the object in game. So after I've done this, I will share the result with you.

Power Production
My idea of adding the possib...

Sneak Peek Images - GT Waterwheel - Adjusted Concrete Support

I've succeeded in lowering the concrete support, so the waterwheel fits it like it should (I think). This wasn't easy though as vfx can't be seen in Studio, so I had to go in and out of the game to check if the waterwheel reached the right height.

In the first screenshot you'll see how it looked before and on the second and third screenshots how it looks now. Besides that the waterwheel seems to hang on the right height now, the concrete support now also go's under the water surface ins...

Update on the GT Waterwheel object

Hello all,

I've tried to work a bit on the waterwheel today and as for the to-do list from my former post, I've only finished a few of them.

Former To do list:
Things I still need to do now for this particular object:
- Search for and add more water VFX (ripples/flow).
- Add custom catalog thumbnail βœ…
- Make it to be placeable on all water surfaces. βœ…
- Placeable on terrain so a small stream can flow in between. βœ…
- Double check everything...

Sneak Peek Images - GT Waterwheel + Concrete Base updates after a lot of problems

Instead of making all waterwheel vfx placeable as an object on their own, I focused on adding the Get Together waterwheel vfx to the concrete base today. This doesn't mean I won't be making versions of the waterwheel versions alone by the way.

The first thing I tried to do was adding rigs and slots to the concrete base object. Most of the debug objects don't have this option and without, I can't add the vfx of the waterwheel in between it as it needs a _FX_ slot for that.  View Post

Sneak Peek Images - Waterwheel (GT) - Concrete Base

Finally some more things to share as I've not felt quite energytic and inspired to work on the waterwheels the last few days.

The contcrete base you see on the images fits perfectly around both the waterwheel that can be found in Windenburg as well as the small waterwheel from Henford on Bagley. It's a debug object I found in the Get Together pack, but it doesn't seems to be used in the released game. Unfortunately it's too small for the large waterwheel, but maybe I can try to make it ...

Update on RL Work

Work in RL
A Small update about my work in real life. I haven't spend much time on the waterwheels yet this week as I'm a bit busy with other things. This is my first week I will only work one day at the animal shelter instead of two and two days at the Aquaponic Food Farm. So this leaves less time for me to work on mods as there're other things I want (or need) to do besides modding too this week.

I've also noticed that because of the work at the food farm and worry...

Sneak Peek Image - Axle Hole Replacement

I just found the missing part to fill up the hole where the axle should be. Left you see the vfx version and on on the right the object used to fill the hole. I'm not sure what the English word for this object in game is though. Maybe some of you can help?
It's a wall attachment looking like a wood log or something..

In this case I enlarged it 1x and used the number 9-key while MOO is enabled to raise it to the correct height. The other side of the waterwheel should still be placed a...

Sneak Peek Images - Waterwheel VFX

So here are all the waterwheel vfx (played with the VFX player) seen from a few different angles. The two on the foreground are the waterwheels that can be found in Henford on Bagley and the one in the back is the one that can be found in Windenburg.

Large Waterwheel (CL)
There're a few things that you might notice about these waterwheels.
First of all, the large waterwheel on the left has a strange hole in the middle where the axle should be. When you look at the...

Sneak Peek Images - Waterwheel Debug Objects

As mentioned before, the Get Together waterwheel can't be found in the debug section, but the two waterwheels that can be found in the Henford on Bagley do appear in there.

As you can see though, there're no vfx of splashing or falling water attached to these objects, so I dived into the vfx list to search for these and not only found vfx of the rotating waterwheels + water vfx, but also the Get Together waterwheel!

I'm going to make some screenshots of these items in game now usi...

Next Project: Waterwheel pack

I've decided what my next project is going to be about: Waterwheels!
In the screenshots 3 different waterwheels are visible. There're two from the Cottage Living world Henford on Bagley and one from the Get Together world Windenburg which I want to make placeable for the community. I'm aware that the Cottage Living ones can be found in the debug section, but as far as I know, they don't have any vfx like the splashing water attached to it. The Get Together waterwheel can't be found in the ...

Placeable Rabbits + Unlocked Rabbit Home Tree Trunk
With this mod you can place rabbits in whatever color variations you want and won't have to wait until you befriend a rabbit, to be able to buy de rabbit home tree trunk. I've also added some extras to the tree trunk to make it better useable.

Sneak Peek Image - Rabbit Home - Forest Scene

Have been busy today with making screenshots and videos for the final video for these mods and made this nice looking forest scene.

One of the reasons it's made like this, is to show that adding plants in front of the tree trunk  won't stop rabbits to come out of it or enter it. I think this makes scenes like this one to look a bit more realistic.

If you haven't seen the mushrooms before by the way, you can see a video about it and download it 2022-04-27 15:42:40 +0000 UTC View Post

Wild Rabbits + Rabbit Home Feedback?

I was curious if some of you already tested the Wild Rabbits and Tree Trunk Rabbit Home, and if so, if you have feedback about the objects or feedback on how to use them in game.

As I have a bit of an off-day today (which I already felt while working at the animal/bird shelter this morning), I won't be working on anything Sims related as most of the time I only get more frustrated when I do s...

As I can't fix the problems that sometimes occure, I've decided to share the files with you so you can play-test both of them too.

About the Placeable Wild Rabbits:
- Find them in the Pond VFX section in build mode or by typing Rabbit into the search bar.
- Choose which ever color variation you want.
- Placeable through other objects, so you can place them underneath a deco flower wagon for example. They will walk away from it theirselfs.
- When making a bun...

Sneak Peek Image - Wild Rabbit Trunk + Info

Reproduce issue - issue
A small update about the rabbits and tree trunk. I've been spending hours today to try to reproduce the issue with the dying rabbits and the 'crash report' I recieved after this, so Twisted Mexi can take a look at it. Now I don't know why, but my rabbits refused to die today. So after spending a lot of time without actually getting any further with this mod, I decided to work on the rabbit home a bit.

Update on the Placeable Rabbits

Hi all,

I'm feeling already a lot better and that means I got some time to test the rabbits some more. First of all, I'm not going to change the way the rabbits behave, so they will keep digging holes if they want to.

The following you might already know, but I didn't (as I haven't played that much with Cottage Living yet). To make the chance bigger that the wild rabbits will stay on your lot, you will need to place a rabbit home tree trunk. Instead of digging a hole, most of them...

Have been a bit ill past few days

Hello all,

I'm sorry for not giving any more updates about the rabbits, but I wasn't feeling very well the past few days. Sunday I went for a walk in the early morning to spot birds with some friends and everything was still fine. I even had an enormous energetic boost when I came back home because of all the birds I saw that day, including 3 new ones I never saw before.

But in the evening it felt weird in my stomach and that night I barely slept. Monday it felt like all of my ene...

Sneak Peek Image - Wild Rabbits

In the image above a sneak peek about the wild rabbits. These are all color variations there are in game and you can pick the one you want on your lot yourself, by selecting the right swatch in build mode.

In the case of the screenshot, I made a small bunny pen as I wanted them to stay close before running away. If you're planning to make such a thing too in game, remember to close the gate for everyone but your sims. I forgot about this the first time and they all immediately ran away....

Next Project: Placeable Wild Rabbits

Hello all,

I've decided that my next project will be about placeable wild rabbits.
I think it's possible to make all color variations placeable as an object. After placement, these rabbits will behave just as other wild rabbits, but you won't need a tree stump for them to appear.

I haven't observed them long enough in game to see how the behave, but I'm sure I will find out while working on this. What I did saw happening is that they dig holes in which they disappear. I hope it...

Update about my day discovering Cottage Living

I've spend quite a few hours today discovering everything Cottage Living has to offer as in buy/build mode objects, the world itself and a few of the VFX belonging to the pack.
Something I want to try, is if I can find something in the tuning so more cows/llamas or chickens can be added to the sheds, but I haven't took a look at the objects at all in Studio, so not sure if it's possible.

I've also found the waterwheels in buydebug which other Sims builders already used, but I'm curio...

Finally I can take a look at Cottage Living!

Hello all,

First of all, good to see everybody likes the improved invisible fence that much! I just saw I had a tiny bit over 5000 views for the invisible fence video ALONE the past few days. It's a very long time ago I had that many views on YouTube for a single video. It's also a very long time ago a uploaded a video at all, but still!

But now it's finally time for me to take a close look at Cottage Livng as I didn't had time for that yet while updating everything to work with t...

πŸŽ‰New Mod / Video!πŸŽ‰

Yeah, finally! Something totally new!
Though I see people thinking, totally new? It looks familiar to me..

Well, that certainly could be the case as I already made my first invisible fence back in 2018. That fence isn't looking that great though. The mesh looks weird, textures look weird, the way the textures look in the sun is just weird and the way to make the object invisible in live mode was nice, but could be made better now.

So that's why I made The Invisible Fence 2.0, ...

I've worked on the invisible fence 2.0 a bit more today as I discovered a few things that needed some tweaking, while writing the voice over and testing things in game.

I do think it's finished now though, so I wanted to share the mod already with you.
If you used my first invisible fence before, you will definitely see some great improvements as in the way it looks, but especially as in how it works. To be clear about that, you now only need to switch to live mode f...

🚨 My Animated Buoy Mods have been UPDATED!

Another pack of updated mods! This time though they can't be placed on ponds yet as I still miss an option in Studio to enable this for all DLC. You can place them on ponds if you use the MOO cheat though, like can be seen on the image above.

They all can now be found in the Pond VFX section and besides that, some of them recieved some additional fixes or additions too.
