General update

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of content, I no longer have a buffer so the episodes have taken up most of my time. However I'm nearing the end of the season and when I start preparing for season 3 I'll have a lot of concept stuff to share.

As of now I'm planning for season 2 to end around late January but we'll see how it goes.

In other news there's been a new piece of castle swimmer merch in development and I'm really excited to share it once it's ready ;)

Kappa's S3 outfit?

I did this as a warmup on top of my episode lol. I want to give siren and kappa new little outfits for season 3 and I was thinking something with a similar shape to this for kappa's. But with a different design maybe. Perhaps with more ocean elements.

However I still need it to be easy to draw and It would be cute if they both had outfits with a matching material. For siren I was thinking something that covers more of his arm. BUT WHO KNOWS. I NEED TO BE FOCUSING ON SEASON 2 NOT SEASO...

Witch rough designs

There was originally going to be a fourth witch that was blind but there were too many characters to balance, so I sort of merged that character with Mono.

Usually when I name characters, I name them all after the first letter of their race. But with the witches I ended up reusing the names from the old version of the comic on Tapas. I kept Nethimir, I changed the name 'Muccus' to 'Mucku' and Mono was a new one I came up with.

Giving them names that start with N and M doesn't...

The evolution of Kappa and Siren

The boys from when I first created them in 2013 all the way to 2019 when I joined webtoon.

I sketched this after work today. I don't think kappa would ever wear something like this unless he was alone with Siren lol.

Deleted Scene

I've posted this online before but it's kinda hard to find so I figured I'd post it here as well.

This scene got cut from the comic when I transitioned to webtoon because it was too long and I needed a scene that was shorter.

Herm concept sketches

I can't remeber who inspired herm but my main idea for them was a hermit crab mermaid who sat in their shell like a chair.

I also wanted them to hoard a lot of items in the name or research which inspired me to make the inside of their house similar to the little mermaid. I hid some references in that part.

Lord Ogo concept art

Ogo was actually based on a giant robo crab that I created in my first webcomic called 'kappa'

Back then I was putting way more detail into my panels (to am unsustainable degree lol) and the design was more realistic and creepy.

The original was also based on a spider crab which has many long legs.

Pride2021 process

I went a little crazy with the rainbow gradients on this drawing. I stayed up late working on it because I was having a lot of fun. 

New Castle Design

Here's the rough sketches I did when I was trying to think of the new castle. I wanted something that was unique from the castles that have already appeared in the comic so I went with the weird, mutated Ferris wheel design lol. The multiple branches of the castle's 'arms' helped me figure out the next portion of the story.

I think most of this stuff was towards the end of college when I was preparing my first webcomic (which was an early crusty version of Castle Swimmer called 'kappa') I did a lot of these on the back of order sheets while I was a waitress. 

my art style is super different now so I sometimes I can't stand to look at these drawings lol.

These were the first sketches I did when I thought about making a mermaid comic. I think it was either late high school or early college. 

Kappa was originally going to have black hair and black spots and his name was 'Kai' the most unique anime boy name there ever was.
