Desert Beauty

So what do you do when the wind blows?  You get out some fabric.  That usually stops the wind cold. :-)

And the model has to pose with things that will stick you if you're not careful.  You can see the wind a little better in this photo.

Behind the scenes of Jill getting ready to step out into the wind and desert.  The things the model has to put up with when she's shooting outside.  Not only is she subject to sunburn, but she has no access to a real makeup mirror.

You can't really tell in this photo, but the wind did pick up later in the day.  I just love shooting this woman.  She is truly beautiful.

Jill and I had set up another shoot but it fell through.  Our schedules didn't match up versus her "grandma dying" (that's an inside photography joke :-), models use that excuse a lot when they flake on a photographer.  Some models have had their grandma die up to 9 times.)  It was a good thing it fell through anyway since it turned out to be cold and windy on that day.  This day, Jill and I had to contend with 30 MPH winds is all. :-(

If you follow me on Flickr, you've seen some of the photos with Sarah Jane and Jill posted there.  Jill and I have kept in contact since that shoot and decided that we had to collaborate again.  She spends a lot of time in Canada, she's a Canadian citizen, and quite a bit of time in Nevada and Arizona.

I first saw Jill in some photos another photographer had posted of her along a stream bank in Arizona.  She and I had several mutual friends including Sarah Jane who I had photographed several times.  I had booked SJ for another shoot and she asked if she could bring a friend who turned out to be Jill.

Sierra Through the Years

One more pause and then I'll post the rest of the story, at least up to present day.  Sierra and I fully intend to continue shooting and posting until we're both too tired to do it anymore which I hope is many years in the future.  I know I have hundreds more of this beautiful woman which I haven't touched from a processing standpoint.  I can see a great deal of improvement in my photography and processing from they early photos and we'll see what the future holds. :-)

As always...

We had a little help with the lighting during this shoot.  We were using a golden reflector.

Sierra wanted to do something with an Indian theme during this shoot.  This series was shot at along a small stream near where I live.

Sierra Through the Years

We shot this set on a trail near where I live in Wyoming in August.  There were forest fires all around so we couldn't get any real good vistas, but it didn't matter IMHO.

Eight months went by without a shoot.  We both decided this was way too long between the shoots.

Quite possibly my favorite portrait of her of all time.  Never before posted anywhere.  Those eyes and that hint of a smile.  This photo is Sierra.  She doesn't often let you see this side of her.  You can actually see the reflection of the photographer in her eyes, if you look closely.

Okay back to February.  You can't help but get some great photos with this woman.

Oops I forgot the car show we did in January 2016.  Like I said, I've shot so many times with this wonderful woman.  Just kind of skipped a month.  She posed in a friend of mine's 69 Pontiac GTO.  Several folks came up to her and asked if she would pose with their car/truck. :-)

We next teamed up in February 2016.  She and I and "Little Bit" went out to another great spot that I know of.  Of course Sierra would make any spot great.  She was getting ready in this shot.  You can see the snout of "Little Bit" watching and supervising the makeup.

As we all know vampires cast no reflection in the mirror since they're the undead.  They avoid them at all costs.

Special Posting for my $5 patrons

So after I shot Fae Dcay awhile back at Photo Bang Bang and created a storyline around a vampire, I thought it would be cool to put together a shoot with a vampire theme with two of my favorite local models.  So here goes.  The models are Jessica (red headed vampire) and Brittany (her victim).  I always looked at the Bella Lugosi vampire movies as a love story.  The vampire chases a beautiful woman around trying to make her his forever companion.  That's the backdrop for...

Sierra, Through the Years

I think I'll pause this post right here.  There's still lots more to see of Sierra, but I don't want to overload you in one sitting :-)  Over the years this woman and my wife and I have become good friends.  We get together about every 2 months, shoot some photos, and gossip.  Stay tuned.......
