Some great news for once!!!
We recently received the amazing news that my dad's cancer is not metastasized as we were previously told!!
He has some unusual spots on his spine which lead doctors to believe the cancer cells had migrated there. But they kept studying it 'cause there were some doubts and finally they've definitively ruled out metastasis!!
Now his treatment will be much easier and safer plus his survivability rate increased dramatically!

Now something that DID work (see previous post).
I spent a lot of time trying to come up with something I liked and this was it.
I wanted to re-visit this character so I did, I call him Boots. It was challenging to get the look right and the portrait feel of the piece but I would say I pull it off.

Let's start with sketches that are no good in my mind. I spent days in all of these trying to make 'em work but in the end I had to abandon.
Being creatively active has a lot of moments of "despair" where nothing seems to work, these 3 are but a small sample of that, I have hundreds of sketches/ideas that went no were for different reasons.

My dad is doing alright at the moment, he's gonna start chemotherapy soon. He had to under go a kinda related surgery not long ago and he is recovering very well.
We are staying positive and we are taking things day by day.

Coming up with new ideas has been though lately so I decided to finally tackle this old piece.
I ended up changing a lot from the original back in 2016. The anatomy and perspective were off and my coloring skills have improved a lot on all those years.
I'm pretty happy with the result and I can finally say it's done!

I started working on this a while ago, waaay before we got the shitty news about my dad's cancer.
I kinda lost interest on this piece...
I need to apologize for the lack of content this month, my mind is somewhere else.
We received terrible news regarding my dad.
Earlier this year he was diagnosed with prostate cancer (as cancer goes not that bad I'm told).
He had a lot of tests done to check for any metastasis and his bone scan came back negative, so we were relieved unfortunately it was a false negative and after more testing they concluded the cancer had indeed metastasized to his pelvis and lower spine.

The kobold one is an exploration of style and color. I like the 'messiness' of it while still providing enough detail to the...important areas :]
The second one is a 20 min purely color practice (proportions are crap). The idea is to try to match the colors as best as possible (without color picking the reference) in a very short period of time, that way you don't get stuck on details 'cause you gotta work fast.
It's fun but very challenging. I gotta improve a lot!...

Wanted to just paint so I did.
I really like the result. I want to keep exploring this way of working 'cause it feels natural, dynamic and energetic? loose? don't know... at least looks like I know what I'm doing 😆
The final piece has no dialog bubbles 'cause I don't think they fit but if some of you want a version with it I could edit the post later. Let me know.

Recently I learned that yesterday the 31st was the international Zebra Day and today is the NATIONAL serpent day (apparently). So I put this, very rushed, sketch together to celebrate both 😅
I don't think I'll be able to finish it before the day ends so for now you get this very rough WIP

Hey people, sorry for the content drought. Life keeps piling on and the headaches still persist, though one good thing I found is that having something ice cold on my head and neck helps a lot when the pain is at its worst.
Still doing tests and checkups to find what da hell is wrong with me.

The headaches and neck pain make it very difficult to be more productive at the moment.

Took me days to finish this piece, first 'cause I didn't know how to paint it and second 'cause of the headaches after extended periods of working on it.

Sorry for the absolute lack of content. Its been rough. My health issues continue with no real answer yet. On top of that my wife had to have her gallbladder removed and my dad (most-likely) has prostate cancer.
I am having a hard time staying calm and collected at the moment.
